Why do they think these commercials make people want to buy Macs?

Are the commercials...

  • ...effective promotion for Macs.

  • ...effective promotion for PCs.

  • ...ineffective promotion for anything.

Seriously, I would much rather buy the product John Hodgman is representing, just because he's John Hodgman.

And my PC can "do" movies, music and podcasts so I'm not sure how that's a selling point for Mac.

They don't make me want to buy a Mac.

They don't make me want to buy a Mac.
They don't make me want to trash my PC.

Useless waste of my life. On the plus side, the guy that is the PC role was on Jon Stewart and said: I'm a PC. and I got a kick out of it. other than that. its complete ****. Not effective at doing anything.

Considering that it's a commercial for a Mac...yeah, they do expect the commercials to get people to opt for a Mac than a PC.

If you're a person who has no idea about computers or the history between Mac's and PC's...than the commercial is going to, most likely, effect the persons buying habits. But if you're a person who knows computers fairly well, knows the history, knows the technology...than you're going to buy what's suitable for you...and not because some lame commercial told you what to buy.

But, I mean...I thought that would have been blatantly obvious. Considering ANY product that puts out a commercial is expecting it to have an effect on people, and make them buy the product.

I thought this was going to be Big Macs. :(

I wouldn't change my PC unless there were several mindblowing things that you could do exclusively on a Mac.

Depending on what you're using your computer for, there is a difference. I'm going to school for film/video and graphic design, so obviously a Mac would be better than a PC for such fields of study. I bought a MacBook Pro last week and I'm glad I did. Not only is this one powerful little laptop (had it maxed out with speed and memory) but the differences in performance, navigation, and production is blatantly obvious. If you want a computer for e-mail, instant messaging, web browsing and other things like games and stuff (you know, a basic personal computer) then you could go with PC. Macs are superior in production and performance, they just are. They're better computers. Not to mention they're a flipping blast to use.

PC still has right-click though, hmmm.

I'd rather have a MacBook if I need it for a certain work purpose, but for a computer at home for personal use I'll take a custom PC.

...porno...? :) you mean porn..don't you?

I really don't see the point for two different systems, when they both can do the exact same thing anyway.

All I know is Mac.
I'm completely confused when it comes to having to operate anything else. Maybe one day I might buy a regular laptop. If I could ever get away from the Hype :(
