The Dark Knight Rises Why no new batsuit?

Should Lucius have presented Bruce with a new batsuit with the batwing?

  • Yes!

  • No!

  • Bring back the old batsuit... or a hybrid of both!

I always loved this suit, but something about it is better in TDKR. Not sure what it is, but I know for a fact the cape seemed to hang over the shoulders more, and the neck seemed to be a bit bigger, not as much as a "helmet" look like TDK.

I think the 'no new batsuit' thing highlights the lack of Batman since 2008, the eight year absence. I was fine with seeing TDK suit again the whole time.
the 'no new bat-vehicle' could have also highlighted that :cwink:

I know what you mean, and I think it is because we see Batman in his batsuit during the daytime a lot, like in the final battle. And obviously, if we see the batsuit in the light, we're going to get a better look at it

I thought for the final battle, they should have bought back the BB suit. It would have fit into the story quite nicely. When Bane breaks Batman, they strip him of the new suit and probably discard it. When Bruce returns to Gotham, the Begins suit could have been the only one he had access too.

Then the finale chase would have mirrored the Batman Begins final chase; Batman chasing Ra's and the bomb on the train, like Batman chasing Talia with the bomb on the truck....both with the BB suit on.

^ someone on the other page pointed out how there are 2 copies of the second batsuit.

When we knew the suit wouldn't changed, I was angry, but now after seeing the movie, I'm happy as hell. They lit it beautifully this time around. It looked great.

Talia stabbing him between the plates ties into Lucious mentioning in TDK being more flexible and more agile but the separation of the plates would be susceptable to knives....

^ which is why, in 8 years, Lucius should have gifted Bruce with a new batsuit to go along with the batwing.

Lucious never gifted anything unless Bruce asked for it. Only exception is the Bat.

Plus he is obviously in no shape for a new suit, he has been retired, no need.

Me and my fiance both wondered why Bruce wouldn't revert back to the BB suit given that it was meant to be stronger.
I agree with you to a point. He would definitely be protected better, but he would not be be able to move around as good as he would be able to in the newer suit, IMO. That was the whole point of a new suit. Yes that would sacrifice a level of protection from the seperation of the armor plates, but he is able to move faster because of those plate seperations. Both suits defintiely have their pros and cons.

Bruce needed more mobility than the first one had, so he made the next one bike-friendly. In this movie, his joints wore out after all the trauma he's received, so he used bionics. There was no need for a whole new suit.

He could've incorporated some mail and made it more knife resistant; the Joker exploited that ruthlessly in The Dark Knight, and [BLACKOUT]Talia[/BLACKOUT]'s stab would've hurt less at the very least. That's about all I can think of to improve the design for the kind of urban combat Batman engages in.

Bat Suit looked a Lot better in TDKR as compared to TDK.

Maybe that was because Bale was in a better physical shape this time and that they made some minor changes to neck and Cape.

I liked the way Suit and Batman looked in this movie than the last two movies.

John Blake said to me that he's making a new one, with a little R & nipples.

^^ haha

But yeah I loved that they kept TDK suit, it would of been cool to have the begins style one, but im guessing it must of hampered Bale a bit too much for the bigger fight sequence. Also TDK suit has become a very iconic look to batman in this story of his progression of Batman through his career. And lets be honest on the last fight it looks brilliant!

No suit because the story didn't demand it.

It makes no sense to me.
My three reasons for a new suit.

1) new movie (I can't think of a Batman movie that kept the same suit as the last one throughout)
2) 8 years passed! You would think tech wise, he could update it a little
3) Adjustments for the second fight with Bane, battle suit, anything!?!?!

And my own personal reason, the TDK suit is so boring to me.

To disagree, if I may:

1) It's good they don't feel the need to follow previous movies, they did something different by not changing it.
2) He was out of action, Gotham didn't need Batman so he locked it away
3) It made it more impressive that the only thing Batman had gained in the second fight was the will to overcome him, instead of just beating him because his suit was better, which would of made it less impressive imo.

I liked both of the batsuits, but I felt that the Begins one was a little....fat? It was intimidating but I think the suit from the final two movies was better. Those movies were more like war movies and his suit looked more practical and dangerous.

And as for Bruce getting another suit so quickly, I imagine he's got a few lying around. After all, they had to order 10,000 units of some of the parts. It only makes sense he would have a few backups since there were probably a handful of prototype suits made for Wayne Enterprises. Just like there were multiple tumblers.

Busting out a new piece of kit to defeat an enemy, happens too often, glad it didn't

He may not have used the BB suit, but it was definitely nice to see parts of in the film. Or am I the only one that noted the gauntlets in the wall slide out in the Bunker? Also, ai liked that he still had the Bunker in addition to the Cave. So very Batman to have 2 stashes of gear.

It would have been interesting to see a marriage between the two suits as a pet project of Lucius. Obviously Lucius was into how Bruce's requests challenged him. He was working on the Bat in his spare time "just in case." Heck, he basically encouraged Bruce to get back in the saddle. I think he would have worked on melding the two designs to enhance protection and intimidation ala the BB suit and maintain mobility and lightness ala TDK.

Um yeah, that's why I said along with the Batwing...

If he's in no shape for a new batsuit, then he's in no shape for a new aircraft either.

I know that the suit was the same suit from TDK... but did the neck look a little thicker in certain scenes?

Like the shot of Bruce in the batcave without his cowl, the neck looked quite thick there. It looked like that in other shots with masked Bruce too.

There was no need for a whole new suit.

There was no need for another suit.

Yes there was.

If it took Lucius less than a year to engineer a new batsuit, and 8 years to create the Batwing, then in that time he could have definitely engineered a great new innovative batsuit.

And it is necessary because Batman was shot by Dent, and was stabbed by the Joker several times. Oh, and at the end, what does Talia do to Batman that could have been prevented with a new batsuit?

Plot holes, plot holes, plot holes...
