Will Spidey 3 Pull A Superman Returns?

if low box office numbers is what your referring to when asking if it will pull a "superman returns" then no. however superman returns was an excellent movie.

I hated Superman Returns, it was long and boring IMO. Plus, I think the thing got way to unreal at the end, and SR Lous Lane was nothing like comics Louis (attitude, not looks).
Surely, Spidey 3 will be at least entertainment, so I don't fear a new Superman Returns.

Spidey 3 can't bomb. After SPidey 1 and 2 spider-man became more popular.

Spider-Manis the most succesful supher hero film franchise next to the X-Men seris.

I would rather Spider-Man 3 be a good movie and do poorly, than be a terrible movie and be a hit. I loved the Hulk (I know many would disagree, and that's fair) because it had a solid story behind it.

Some would argue that it would mean no more sequels, but wouldn't you want the last Spider-Man movie to be a good? the law of Hollywood is to milk a franchise dry, at least this way the franchise would die with some dignity.

To be fair however; I am well aware of the fact that I sound like a fan boy saying this, but if you can't be a fanboy on this forum, where can you be? :P

again some prefer deep story, others action, and as much as people can argue this, there is no way to have one without sacrificing the other. You can find a balance, but in doing so, neither story or action is done to its fullest (again, another debatible subject)

actually it's the other way around

xmen is the most success full next to spider-man because spider-man has more of a total gross (not including x3... but spidey 3 doesn't even need to break records to beat the franchise total gross)

What do you mean not including X3?

he means on a faire 2 film comparison considering spidey 3 hasn't been released...

technically the original statement was correct though, x-men is more sucessful but they've also released more films.

I don't believe thats true. Look at the numbers:

SM1- $403.7 (N. American)........$418 (International)
SM2- $373.3 (NA)....................$410.4 (Int)

Total...$1.60B

X1- $157.1 (NA)..........$138.7(Int)
X2- $214.9 (NA)..........$191.5 (Int)
X3- $228.5 (NA)..........$195.6 (Int)

Total....$1.12B

Yes, even with two films Spidey has made more (by a good amount) than all 3 X-Men films.

oh cool, thanks for the numbers. I just didn't want to count my chickens

Spider-Man 3 will surpass Superman Returns in just about every aspect (just like the first two Spider-Man's have done)

I expect the movie to do well in the box office. Since the teaser trailer was released, there has been a buzz among casual Spider-Man fans about the prospect of seeing Venom on the big screen. The moviegoer who knows nothing about the story I think will be intrigued by the darker story. I'm pretty sure everyone here wants to see it.

If you're talking about quality, I don't really think that Spider-Man 3 is going to make a huge drop, if at all, from the previous movies. It'll be entertaining at the least, but I have faith Raimi will manage the (many) things going on in this story well.

AAAHHHH!!!!.....you beat me to it. But yea, Spiderman still made a lot more with only 2 films so far...compared to xmen with 3 films.

I dunno, Superman returns got to me :) I liked it

when he gives his son the speach Jar-l gave him

*sniff*

so good!

:supes: :down did returns do low numbers in the states then? *smug* it's nice to predict things correctly.......

SR did not make the amount for opening weekend that WB would have hoped for... not a miss but not the blockbuster WB expected it to be.

DVD sales will push it up though

Spider-Man 3 is going to be awesome...i don't know why anyone would fear that it wouldn't.

spidey 1 did great, as did spidey 2...spidey 3 is highly anticipated and there is no doubt in my mind that it to will be great. it has no limit in my opinion, from what i've seen already. even before we had anything i just knew spidey 3 would be incredible.

Spider-man 3 will make more money than Spider-man 2 just like Return of the Jedi made more than Empire Strikes back

I haven't seen SR, but it looks damn great.

In box office, sure. Spidey 3 will make much more than SR.
