As I can see, SR makes BB's numbers with not bad legs.

Well it can make $130m at the end of this week and then $205-215m in total.

Will it be flop? Because the official budget is $260m.

And if it makes near BB's numbers, will we see sequel?

If yes, then will Singer come back?

What you think?

I absolutely think there will be another Superman movie in the nearish future. The exact nature of this movie, I couldnt say. might be a sequel with everyone returning, might be a sequel with a different director, might be a reboot.

MISS CLEO SAYS: Nattin' is set an stone. T'anks fo' colling.

You better your ass they will even if the movie doesnt make 260 at the box office... DVD sales will show and help witha sequal for sure!

Yes...Maybe they will make the 21 century prequel..for this movie...i know they made one years ago..but I want the General audience to get atleast what went on in the second movie...Routh and Boswoth was kinda young to carry a plot dealing with a 5 year old kid, that was a problem I had with the movie, but It was still a great movie ..

Well with $215m domesticly and DVD sales, SR will have some potential sequel, buy WB need to make budget for sequel lower.

$150-180m is enough I think.

It'll use SR as vague history pre-sequel to the sequel of the pre-quel.

lol, my brain exploded after reading that. -_-

I have no doubt there will be a Sequel. But the problem is Singer will more then likely not have the Creative Freedom he had the first time around

And that might be a good thing in this case.

Well... at least it won't be a remake or a requel of an origin movie and it's sequel...:o

I definitely see a sequel coming, here's why:

1) The general audience was a little skeptical about this about Supes 3 and 4, similar to how the general audience was skeptical about Batman Begins after Forever and Robin. The film will have lasting power because of that skepticism- maybe not the same lasting power of Batman Begins, but close, and I see domestic Box Office still being around 200mill.

2) Combining foreign B.O. Gross, the absolute worst case scenario will be breaking even, and that's if it has a horrible foreign box office.

3) That leaves dvd sales and the insane amount of merchandising this film has.

4) Then, after those profits, the general audience will be ready for a sequel, after realizing that this film wasn't as bad as they were afraid of.

Do young people even remember Supes 3 and 4? I don't really buy that, Batman and Robin came out in 97.

I agree with most of this assessment. My assessment reposted from another thread:

For those of you saying there won't be a sequel, I say put your money where your mouth is. If SR hits 200 domestically and continues to do well overseas (in the area of 300 mil, give or take), there will be a sequel, 40 mil in failed projects included or not. Why? Because DVD and merchandise sales will carry it the rest of the way, ESPECIALLY if the DVD is released during Christmas time. Will only 200 mil domestically be disappointing? Of course it will. Who in their right mind didn't believe it would make more. But it is what it is. Nonetheless, WB didn't relaunch this franchise for nothing. So for those who didn't like Returns, sorry for you, hope the sequel is more enjoyable for you (I really do). For those who did like the movie, don't get your panties in a bunch, I'm 99.9% sure there's going to be a sequel.

Oh and I also agree with whoever said that Singer probably won't have as much creative freedom the next time around.

WB will definetly make a sequel but it wont feel right with its low BO numbers.

All depends on how the final BO numbers look and there projections for DVD , toy and game sales look and once everything is said and done if it shows a profit.
For those of you who think a sequel is set in stone you would be wrong a studio is just not going to produce a sequel to a movie that cost them money.

So short answer if it shows a profit sure a sequel will most likley be produced depending on that profit with a reduced budget as well possibly.

If it does not show a profit after DVD toy etc etc sales a sequel is not that likley.

I'd be all for a reboot with a VERY abbreviated origin story. Like a Prologue synopsis brief. Have some family moments with BOTH living adopted parents to establish his humanity, then send Clark to Metropolis.

Saw the title of this thread and was just about to post the exact same thing but you beat me to it.

Another Superman film? YES!

Sequel?
Reboot?
Director?
Cast?

Who the heck knows? But another film WILL happen. Count on it folks.

I'm 27, I don't know if I consider that young or not, but I was in the theater joyfully watching Superman 3 when it dropped.

There no doubt will be another Superman movie, but if it is a sequel to Returns, remains to be seen.
