Where I agree with Tobey, it would not be that big of a deal if Kirsten did not come back. For a 4th movie she could be written out very easily as doing a photo shoot overseas (like in Paris or something). From there the next movie could start out on a down note where MJ breaks up with Peter via a “Dear John” letter saying she is having problems with his "line of work" and that she will always love him and keep what they had "between them" …as in his secret.

This would allow a storyline where Spidey can flirt with another love interest like the Black Cat.

IMO at this point, Kirsten is completely expandable where the franchise is concerned. :spidey:

I know this sounds odd, but I'd like to see the cast come back to voice an animated feature film a year or two after part 3. That would be so badass. :O

I kind of agree with that statement. For me,Dunst leaving is not a huge deal, but Maguire and Sam Raimi have made this series what it is. Tobey IS Spidey! I hope that they all at least sign on for a parts 4 and 5. Then maybe, depending on how it does, give the series a rest and maybe start it up again a few years down the line with new actors in the roles.

That doesnt sound like a bad idea, as long it was a good story and lengthy

^They should of held off on there better villains, because using there best ones first will be hard to top.

It should of went something like this:
S-M3:Hobgoblin,Scorpion,(Rhino cameo)Opening sequence could of been John Jameson crash lands the shuttle and JJJ creates the Scorpion to kill spidey because he blames spidey for his son being in the hospital in critical condition.

We could of seen spidey have a tough time fighting Hobgoblin and Scorpion at the same time in the movie somewhere.

Then at the very end of the movie spidey is fighting Scorpion, and Hobgoblin comes flying into the picture, and spidey thinks it's double trouble again, but the Hobgoblin helps spidey defeat the Scorpion. And the cliffhanger could be black spidey. And we could of got a black spidey swinging through the city at the end of the movie.

S-M4:Lizard,Kraven,(Shocker cameo)black spidey uses the symbiote to his advantage to take these two villains out at the same time.Spidey takes the symbiote off at the end of the movie, giving us a Venom cliffhanger.

S-M5:Sandman,Venom(Vulture cameo)

S-M6:The Sinister Six.(Doc Ock,Chameleon,Carnage,HydroMan,Rhino,Mysterio)We could see the Chameleon at the beginning of the movie breaking into a military base and see him freeing villains that the goverment has locked up in a secret base.

sounds good but you got to add Electro in somewhere there. when i heard that the first Spider-man movie was finally being made i want to see Hobgoblin, Venom, Carnage, Sandman , Electro , Lizard and Scorpion in a movie so as long as i seen them in aleast one movie each i'm happy

I would normally have said yes (as I love the spiderman movies obviously) but from reading this thread, how CAN they top SM-3? I dont think a sinister six movie would be a good idea.....

Sony/Marvel has come out and said they plan to make 6 all together. And currently they are making a ton of money off of these movies, so why would they stop at 3?

With all the spoilers flying around they are hinting at going beyond 3 anyway.
It is still up in the air if Peter and Mary Jane are together by the end of the movie (remember that is the focus of these movies). It's rumored that the symbiote gets away at the end. Setting up of the lizard. Alfred Molina saying he wants to return as Ock. Seems to me there is enough to go on to keep going. And enough to make most fans go Ok where's our Lizard movie?

Also I know I have seen the article where Dunst says she doesn’t want to come back. Or at least she said, she thinks the series should end at 3. But I can’t say I remember seeing that Sam Raimi wouldn’t do anymore or Tobey.

The one rumor is that they brought Gwen in to replace Mary Jane. Well if that’s true, can’t we all continue on with Gwen in 4? I personally wouldn’t like such a drastic change from the books, but if it has to be done it has to be.

Also remember that Warner Brothers continued after Keaton and Burton left the Batman films. Heck they even gave Schumacher 2 attempts at it as well ;)

I think if Rami and Toby stick around we’ll get six strong movies all together. I also have a feeling they’ll talk Dunst into staying.

If they bail at 3 then we’ll get a 4th that will ride the coat tails of the first 3, but not do as well. And a fifth that bombs and makes the series look bad. And then in 10 years they’ll restart the series again ;)

I do not think Marvel/Sony are going to say. Hey we made enough off the first 3 and there is too much artistic integrity at stake to continue the series. Come on be realistic. They’ll keep making them no matter what.

It will not work.

MJ is Spidey's girlfriend for all times.

Just when you look at some other movies... trilogies always seem to work in most cases... I think the movies are fine they are shaping out as a trilogy... look at how pirates is shaping out... and franchises before it... trilogies usually work best... we'll see what happens though...

I hope they all return for more after #3. If not then get a cast and crew just as great, but one thing's for sure. There will be more Spider-Man movies

If you can accept new writers/artists taking over a book, recasting shouldn't matter. New actors have new takes on characters, so it is essentially the same thing. I have no problem if they recast the roles and continue after 3, but I think it is more likely that the franchise ends at 4 and everyone (except maybe Kirsten) comes back for it. That is just how I see it going down right now.

Funny. It worked in the comics just fine.

I remember when talk began about how there would be 6 Spidey films, and I really hope that's the case. I would go as far as saying that Sam Raimi is one of the best director's out there, and the ONLY one who could make the Spidey films a masterpiece like they are. I think Raimi will give us more Spider-Man films soon, and that as long as he's attached Maguire will be too. I could care less about Dunst (honestly, I'd prefer if they killed her off), and I think Harry may bite the bullit in 3, so it's only Raimi and Maguire.

I don't see Tobey doing one without Raimi, but I think it would still be possible to do one sans Tobey (I love him as Spidey, but they could find a more than capable replacement if it was a necessity).

Either way, let's just keep bringing on the Spidey films... just preferably with Raimi and Maguire, then down the line with a similar director's style and a capable actor, similar to the Superman Returns route.

As do I. They can kill off MJ in 3 or early 4 to avoid recasting and continuity issues. As for Raimi leaving, I think if SM3 does excellent(breaking all records and such)then he will be back to do a 4th installment. I do hope we keep Tobey as Spider-Man but it would be easy to replace MJ with another love interest like Gwen, Felicia, or Betty. I hope we at least get a 4th and that most of the company stays for it. I can reasonably loose Kirsten, would hate to loose Raimi, and deffinitely do not want to loose Tobey.

S-M4 can be really good,if Raimi doesn't add Black Cat to it.

I just odn't think the mass audience will follow us or the franchise if Maguire is gone. We lose Maguire....well the series drops to B-status and we don't want to see a bad director (look at what happened to Batman and X-Men) to be handed it at this stage to drag Spidey's good name through the mud.

3 is enough.

Because creators wanted to choose ultimate girlfriend for Pete. And to make it more like tradegy they used Gwen as the victim.

Besides, not anything, what worked in comics, will work in the movie.

At Comic Con if they announce that the Lizard is in this movie, then part 3 will be the last one.

As much as I'd love to see Liz on the big screen, I hope not. :(

Liz would be a cool villain...but there is just too much happening at the moment.
