Will this be the last one?

with the goblin story finished (maby) after sm3, I'd still like to see one last movie.

Keep em coming, AS LONG AS, Raimi and the orig cast stay together. If they have to recast this movie, i say NO, end at 3.

There are still more Spidey tales to be told but you certainly don't want the franchise to overstay it's welcome. I think anything past a 4th film would be stretching it.

Well, I think the Lizard would be cool, but I mean, they already did that. It was Doc Ock, if you watch the dvd pop up thingm they said that, they wanted to make Ock into a sympathetic so they merged him kinda with the character of Lizard. You know, making him have a wife, and being a good person but turned evil due to an accident.

Yeah, the goblin story is really the only reason there are sequals. There would be no point of other movies if Harry didn't have a grudge against Spidey or if he didn't find his father's gobby stuff.

No it's not.....

It was Sam's choice to stretch out the "Goblin subplot" it's not that it was needed to continue the franchise.

Spider-Man has a history of good source material to pull from that I would argue even rivals the X-Men stuff.

If Sony wanted to they could continue this series for years....

Spidey 3 will be a closing chapter of sorts not the end of the movies. The whole Harry/Parker Goblin thing will be resolved but something new will start in this one that will carry over into the next.....

I think Sam would continue if he and the rest of the cast still felt excited about the storylines and believed they weren't just repeating themselves....

If Sam decides to bow out then I'm guessing Sony will take a small break and start looking for a new cast and director. I don't think Toby would return without Sam being there. He has a good relationship with Sam and he likes working with him.

I still think there's a lot of life left in this film series and I'm willing to bet Sony's going to keep making them as long as they keep bringing in cash.

Im new so sorry if this thread is already started but i was reading an old interview from october 2004 after spiderman 2 came out where Raimi said 3 would be the last one but i also read that Amy Pascal wanted 6 movies and raimi said if he still feel's the way he does now he would direct them all so im confused will the 3rd probably be the last or have things changed since the interview in 2004

I feel that this one will have a conclusion. But there can be more movies I guess.

I think it will be the end of this "set" of the movies... maybe it will start up again in 5-8 years afterwards.

I agree with the Shadow if Raimi leaves so will Tobey but if he stays i believe Tobey would stay as well at least for one more

I think a good solution for the MJ/peter problem with Dunst could be solved with peter and mj breaking up for awhile at the end of the movie when peter is gonna propose to her have mj finally realize that peter was right in SM3 that they can never be together as long as he is spiderman and she moves away to continue her acting career

then in 4 and 5 (if made) have peter look at new love interests like dating betty brant in 4 for a little then finally hooking up with Gwen then have gwen die at the end of 5 kind of like the comics and peter be devastated and thinking he will always be alone and bring back dunst for 6 and have mj/peter get married at the end.

cuz although tobey is 31 and much older than his character Dunst is like 23 pretty close in age with mj so when she comes back she will look like she should for the age i think thats a way for her to do other jobs for 5 years and help finish the story just an idea though

I also think if Raimi doesn't want to direct the next one or further sequels maybe have him be a executive producer and pick a new director and help him keep the story intact without massive change like the difference between the first 2 X-men movies and the 3rd

^Venom wasn't even created by the person who created spider-man,so if they were going to do the Magneto route and have the same villain in every movie, why should Venom get it?

^And I was sick of seeing Magneto in all of them just like alot of people were...

While Venom, Green Goblin and Hobgoblin are the only villains i can think of that could be a main villain in one movie then an secondary villain in other movies. and since the green goblins die and Hobgoblin has yet to be shown and there's no 100% proof that Venom dies in part 3 i'd say Venom is the most likely. if i had it my way it would be the Hobgoblin but i don't think that's not what's going to happen. if they give Hobgoblin a cameo in part 3 and 4 but don't let you know who the "shadowy figure" causing ***** is then have him as one of the main villains for part 5 and maybe part of the sinster six in part 6 would be cool IMO

I would like to see them do a manspider story like they had in the animated series.....

If Sony was smart, they would of made the villains in S-M3 Hobgoblin and Lizard, and in S-M4 have Venom and the Sandman. You think Sony would of wanted to spread it out so they could make more money...

That would have been interesting to see up there on the big screen, but I have a feeling that it would probably recieve a Batman Returns reaction from parents. But unfortunately, people will continue to b*tch no matter what you present to them. :o

It the part 3 continues the quality of the first two films then I am all for part 4. I believe comic book films do have the potential to go beyond a third or fourth film. It would be interesting to see what comic book character has the potential to become the "James Bond" franchise of comic book movies.

didnt sony say they where gonna do 6 movies either with raimi and maguire or without. if they leave venom alive at the end that would set up the next one if raimi did that he wouldnt want to leave. well singer did it with xmen i guess.

There are no firm commitments to any future Spiderman films at this time, though there is hope. Sony is taking a wait-and-see approach. There's no doubt that this film will do tremendous box office, but Sony will be gauging fan burnout with this one. As has been reported, the budget for SM3 is expected to be in the area of $250 million. To do SM4, the stakes will need to be raised yet again, and that means an even bigger budget. $300-325 million is not out of the question.

Sony will be attempting to determine whether Spiderman as a franchise still has all it's legs underneath it. Make no mistake, they are concerned by the fact that SM2 dropped in total box office from SM1. They'll be looking not only at box office, but also at what future interest the core fanbase and general public will have now that Venom has been introduced. Can the series survive and thrive despite the likelihood of stepping back to "lesser" character villains for future installments?

The fact that each subsequent entry into this series is expected to be bigger and better(and more expensive) is a significant reason why Raimi buckled and brought the symbiote/Venom story into SM3. He, along with everyone else at Sony, just doesn't know for sure if there will be a SM4. So they're going for broke with this one. If SM3 can't bring in at least $375 million with the promise of the Venom storyline and the fx of Sandman, then it's unlikely that anything they could do in SM4 would hit those kinds of numbers. They need to know that for $300-325 million, they have a good chance of making a few (million) bucks on the deal.

We will not hear officially whether or not SM4 will happen until at least a month after the release of SM3, and it may not come until after the dvd is released.

Finally someone with something Sensible to say:up:

Thats what I thought. I also remember that Raimi was very much open to the idea of returning after part 3. He loves the character, and the stories that can be told and it seemed like his return wasnt totally out of the question.

I agree with Pagrebo who I think nails it on the head. The vague sense of "there will be three more," "there will be no more," "we may do one more" and so on is based on testing the waters. If this is as big as SM1 (I see it possibly topping opening weekend, but certainly not $400 million or even $375 million) than they'll continue but the prospect of making the biggest and most expensive movie of ALL TIME for the third time in a row for this franchise (for Spider-Man 4, if ever made) seems like a high bill, especially if your cast deserts you.

I think they are making this as a conclusion film and if it is HUGE they may continue it next decade. If it is big but not as big as the first movie, they'll decide to go out on top and leave the door open for a "Spider-Man Returns" maybe 10-20 years down the road then.

Not gonna work... with all the uncertainty after this one... how could you hold off Venom??? What if everyone left after three... no venom or sandman... ever... they had to do it this way... the only problem I have is that they don't seem to be planting seeds to the next set of films... Brock dying meaning carnage at best... MJ and Peter living happily ever after possibly at the end of this flick... all of that equals no where to go afterwards... Lizard/Kraven would've worked nice as sh:t in SM3 with maybe Jameson bringing back the symbiate as a cliff hanger (but then again where do you fit in the GG2 saga)... but only if they did Ock the right way... I'm afraid there is no where to go after SM3... unless yall want to see the quadrouple way love triangle... it should've went like this...

SM3: Sandman/GG2 and symbiate cliff hanger (mysterio cameo), Eddie, Stacy's
SM4: Black Spidey/Venom, Sidevillain (Rhino opening sequence)
SM5: Lizard/Kraven/return of Ock (or King Pin)/Black Cat
SM6: Sinister Six (Ock, Shocker, Mysterio, Hopgoblin, Electrode, Scorpion) or Carnage (if you don't like Sinister Six)
