The Dark Knight With the Prestige getting crap reviews

I just saw The Prestige, and the negative reviews couldn't be more wrong. It is a brilliant movie and the script is everything that BB should have been. Goyer couldn't write half as good of a story.

The Prestige is a stunner, even if you figure it out halfway through.

"Are you watching closely?" Those and Michael Caine's voice over are the most important aspects of "getting" this film. Remember that....

I just got back from the theater and I loved The Prestige. Great acting, great atmosphere, and an ending that makes you either go "what the ****?" or "HOLY ****!".

Bottom line?
Batman kicked Wolverines ass.
:woot: :yay: :ninja: :cwink:

Did he really? You saw the final frame. I don't think that was the case at all. I think...

That the final frame showed that there were (are) more of Angier's, and that possibly a duplicate of Angier is still alive.

Just my guess.

Just saw the Prestige a few hours ago, and I enjoyed it greatly. I'm not too sure about the payoff, but it's definitely a clever, engaging movie. It's very much a Christopher Nolan movie. If you love Christopher Nolan (I do) you'll enjoy it.

I will say this... There is absolutely nothing about The Prestige that should have anyone believe that the Batman franchise isn't in damn good hands.

What "crap" reviews? Considering how well the team of the Nolans ("Memento") have done in the past, and how Goyer will still give direction, and also how much Bale has shown he cares about the character, there truly shouldn't be any concerns with the upcoming film.

David Goyer is very much involved in TDK. He co-wrote the story of the film and has lots of input in the script that the Nolans are writing.

The only reason he didn't write the script himself is because he's so busy. He's producing, writing and directing The Flash for WB and just finished directing Invincible.

As for the reviews from critics. You can only judge the movie until you've seen it yourself. A lot of critics hated X3 and it ended making up making almost a half a billion dollars. Critics hated Scarface and its now a classic.So....

The title of this thread is wrong: The Prestige is at 74% fresh at RT and has a positive 7,1 average rating at this point.

i saw prestige last night, bar far the best and most intriguing movie ive seen in the past year

The Prestige is getting mixed reviews.

Critics say that it was done well, but there is nothing great in mind games.

But audience is opposite side of them. General public loved this movie and that's still success.

Well, critics were right with X3 and BO doesn't mean that movie is great.

But I'll agree with you about Scarface.

The same can be said about Fight Club and Requim for a Dream.

Now I'm really excited about this movie! I'll watch it as soon as I can.

After watching The Prestige, I think all Batman fans should be greatful that they have such a talented creative team behind the Franchise.

Absolutely agreed. It had "Christopher Nolan" written all over it and for a fan of his like myself that's a very good thing.

I would also agree that critics are more mixed/generally appeased than outright negative -- 74% isn't bad at any degree. Not as good as a rating that Nolan has recieved for any of his other films, but still pretty damn good nonetheless.

And the audience I saw the film with loved it, too. And I saw it on a busy Friday night and the theater was packed. They reacted in all the right moments and it was obvious when everyone was leaving by the volume of the discussions that they thought much of it.

I hated it.

I'm still trying to figure out why.

They didn't even have any ****ing magic in it. WTF.

I hope you're either joking or just have an incredibly dry sense of humor.

Yeah, the movie´s about illusionism, not flying on broomsticks.
