The wolfman design itself was practically the original :
I loved the retro look of the Wolfman. It really felt like the classics in some aspects.

Yeah, on DVD it's only Full Screen according to Amazon.com. The movie is on Blu-Ray in Widescreen format though.
Sounds like most of the negative reviews are complaining that it's not more upbeat...lol

Boy critics are hitting this hard its at 32 percent and Percy Jackson is pulling around 60 percent. I am seeing both no matter popular opinions.
But a lot of the fans on the facebook page are saying that it's an awesome, amazing movie.
A 5-Star Review OMG LOL WTF? said:As a Wayans brothers fan, I was totally pleased with this film. It is so funny and hilarious that I couldn't stop laughing throuout all the movie. So clever and well made that everyone must watch it
Facebook (Flixter) is one of the worst review sites around. 90% of everything on there is rated higher than the ratings from objective reviews, and the ratings were supplied by people who were determined to go see the movie and enjoy it.
Look up "Little Man (2006)".
"Funny", "Hilarious" and "Clever", is basically Failblog content as far as Little Man goes. This is typical of Flixter. Rotten Tomatoes at least makes this kind of thing more the exception than the rule.
PS. My Flixter rating for The Wolfman was 2 stars.![]()

Which one of those two quotes, and how so?
The second one.
You say "practically the original" like it's a bad thing, when that's the whole point of the movie. It is an homage to the original. Rick Baker said that he and Benicio wanted to go as close to the original Wolfman as possible, while also updating it to a more savage and ferocious look.
I agree...it's pretty much plain old fashioned ignorance to think it would look more like other werewolf films and way more animalistic on all fours.
And tell me something. did you go into this movie with any kind of negative preconceived notions? Due to the delays or anything like that?
Be honest.
I guarantee you most people did. Go back numerous pages and you'll see just how many people were claiming this film would suck and be horrible due to the delays. I'm a huge werewolf fan and I've been looking forward to this film because of the cast and well...it's a werewolf movie. I am in no way biased when it comes to these films because I'll even admit the only good one that has really come out in the last decade was Dog Soldiers in my opinion, the rest were crap.
I'll go into this film with an open mind and hope that I enjoy it but from a lot of the reviews, I don't agree with a number of their negative points. A good number of them in alternate words were basically saying the film wasn't bright and some what cheery.![]()

That point was not lost on me at all. In fact that point gets sledgehammered into the viewer quite palpably, and I for one found that to be to a cringeworthy degree.
The other problem I have with the design is that this is supposed to be a horror film and yet it stops being that every time Teen Wolf Del Toro takes the screen. I'm pretty sure I'm not supposed to start giggling.
Delays? I don't know about that. I wasn't following the hype for it. I knew the movie was happening, then the trailer came out and I figured it looked pretty stylish. Eventually I got to see it under fairly optimal conditions; A deserted cinema complex at midnight, with only me there to test the print and lock up, is good for getting the nerves jangling for horrors...
It was creepy and freaky. Then Fang Face showed up and it just ranged from boring to funny from that point on.

What was so funny about him in this film? I don't get the Teen Wolf thing at all, it truly doesn't make any sense.

Fang Face? You deny it but you obviously held it against the movie that it was a remake of the Wolf Man not just another quadruped type werewolf. Have you even seen the original? If you have I have a damn good feeling you didn't appreciate even that one. Or maybe because the face wasn't entirely done in CGI for the entire film.
