World of Legends The New DC RPG: Character Application:
Character Name: Red Robin (Timothy Drake/Wayne)
Alignment (Hero, Villain, Walking the Line): Hero
Character Speech Color and Font (actually say what it is, like Blue Comic Sans): Dark Red Verdana Bolded/Unbolded
Powers and Abilities: Possessing a keen analytical mind from as early of an age as nine, Tim's prowess as a detective was only strengthened under years of tutilage from Bruce Wayne. Trained in several forms of martial arts by Batman and his closest allies, Tim's also a profound gymnast, a skilled mechanical engineer, and knowledge of a majority of the world's dialect, among other skills acquired as a longstanding member of The Bat-Family.
Character Origin/Backstory: As a small child, Timothy Drake was one in a large crowd of spectators that watched as trapeze artist Dick Grayson's parents were brutally taken from him. The event burned in his fragile memory, Tim was shocked to notice something familiar from the event, years later, in a televised broadcast of a hostage situation being defused by Batman and his new sidekick, Robin. The Boy Wonder had seemingly mastered a move only able to be performed by a few people in the world, including Dick Grayson, who had performed it the very night Tim and his parents had attended Haly's Circus. Piecing together that Robin was Grayson, and by association, that Batman was in reality billionaire Bruce Wayne, who had publicly taken in the boy as a ward, Tim kept the knowledge to himself until the time was right.
That time came years later, when The Dark Knight, blinded in his grief after suffering the loss of the second Robin, began to act irrationally in a fit of rage that left behind scores of victims across Gotham City. Taking matters into his own hands, Tim journeyed to Wayne Manor and confronted Alfred Pennyworth and the adult Dick Grayson, explaining what he knew in an effort to coerce Grayson into reassuming the Robin mantle, explaining that Batman needed a Robin in order to keep him from succumbing to darkness. When his plan failed, Tim adopted the garb of Robin himself and earned the position after bravely taking on Two-Face to convince Batman of the same. Wayne hesitantly decided that he'd train him, and in the years since, Tim proved that he was above and beyond a worthy successor to the mantle of Robin.
When Batman was believed to be dead at the hands of Darkseid during an event known as the Final Crisis, Tim refused to give into the notion that he was really gone. Ousted from the Robin identity in Dick Grayson's attempt to rehabilitate Damian Wayne, the new Robin to Grayson's Batman, Tim was forced go about his own mission to find the missing Bruce Wayne in a new disguise inspired by a figure from a parallel world - Red Robin. By the time he'd proven everyone right and aided in bring Bruce Wayne back from the recesses of time, Tim had also proven himself his own man, reaching adulthood as an independent crimefighter.
In the nine months since the death of Alfred Pennyworth, Tim has worked in tandem with fellow crimefighters Oracle, Batgirl, Black Bat, and other members of Batman, Incorporated to protect Gotham City in the absence of The Dark Knight. And while they've been marginally successful, it's become clear that they're on the losing side of a battle for Gotham's soul. Tim's slowly began to build up a resentment towards his former mentor for abandoning them, but secretly, he hopes to see Bruce finally move past his grief and return to the role he was meant for as Gotham's Caped Crusader...
Why this character? Out of all the Robins, Tim was always my absolute favorite. As a character, he combines the best aspects of Batman with the best aspects of Nightwing, creating a uniquely compelling individual all on his own. Playing Tim along with Batman himself allows me to not only further the overall story for Gotham in this season, but awards me a chance to play a character less rooted in darkness and have a bit of fun with everything.
What can you bring to the RPG? The fever, the rage, the feeling of helplessness that turns good men... cruel.
And puppies that SuperFerret hasn't murdered yet.

"We know what we're doing."
I hate this. I mean, I'm really starting to hate this.
It was one thing when he decided to take some time away from the cape and cowl. That I completely understood. Alfred was like a father to him - hell, he was like a grandfather to the rest of us, so for him to take it harder than anyone else is perfectly reasonable. We all needed a little time to get our heads together after a loss that sudden, and that was one of the worst. But whenever he decided to get back in, I figured it'd be a little more... literal. Instead, I feel like he's watching over my shoulder at every turn. I never felt that way in all the years we worked together as Batman and Robin. But I guess that's because I felt like I was dealing with more of a person back then. After all the attempts we've individually made to get him out of that mansion, I'm starting to feel like it's more and more of a lost cause.
"Hey, Tim. You maybe wanna tone it down in the 'bitingly angry' department? We're kind of in the middle of something important."
I almost want to ask Stephanie if she remembered to isolate the com-channel so that she didn't just blurt out my name infront of Batwoman, but I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt.
"I'm not angry, Steph."
"Well, don't act like it, then. You're starting to act like this all the time."
I go to say something derogatory, but I stop myself. Then smirk it off, realizing that she's right. It's not just some random hoods we're dealing with this time. This is Two-Face, otherwise known as one of the single most dangerous criminals Gotham's ever faced in a city full of scumbags who'd qualify for that title. I've got to get my head in the game if we stand even a chance of remotely seeing him go back to Blackgate. And eventually, back to Arkham, if they ever get around to getting that rebuilt for the three hundredth time.
But it's just so frustrating to deal with. I don't know how much more I can keep working with him if he's gonna be like this. Last week, Steph asked me if everything was alright between me and Bruce. And I told her everything was fine, but maybe I lied. Maybe I'm a little mad at him. And maybe, just maybe I'm going about it in the least subtle way imaginable. But after all these years, and with the all the leeway he's given Dick and Jason to call him out on everything he's advertently or inadvertently done with complete disregard for the rest of us, I think I deserve the occasional biting remark, at least. It's about the only thing I have left to say until he starts acting like himself again.
"Okay. Alright, I'll... try and lay off a bit."
"That's all we ask. And just so you know, we're all a little mad at him too. It's okay to admit it. Just... remember where your head's at, alright?"
I feel a small smile emerge from under the doom and gloom that's probably etched on my face right now. I don't know how she still manages to do it after all these years, but Stephanie always seems to get at least one of those out of me. When she's not, y'know... admitting to faking her death for a few months or something. Still not sure if I've given her enough grief about that one.
"Alright."
"..."
"Steph, uh... did you..."
"Yes, I remembered to isolate the com-channels."
"Right. Cool."
"Jerk."
