The Avengers Would Marvel have put Spider-Man in the Avengers if they owned him?

Spider-Man isn't an Avenger. He's a Bendisvenger. They are not the same thing.

Spidey works best on his own, sometimes teaming up. But he shouldn't be an actual member of a team.

That said, yea, if Marvel had his rights he'd probably be in Avengers.

Spidey & Wolverine will be Avengers long after Bendis is done with them. You might as well get used to it.

We'll see. Either way, neither of them should be Avengers. Wolverine especially.

I don't mind that spidey is an avengers. Seems fitting for his character

Yeah, at the time it was a logical step in his career as a superhero. As for Wolverine, I wouldn't mind him being one if he wasn't on the X-Men at the same time. It's even worse now that's he leading a team of X-Men.

Spider-Man is definitely worthy to be an Avenger, and he does suit them, unlike Wolverine.

But I prefer Spidey working on his own, only teaming up every now and then like he does with the F4.

And he's wasted on Bendisvengers. Well, everyone is to be fair.

It may not be true to the comic, but heck yeah, I'd love to see Spider-Man in The Avengers.

But not Garfield. I want Tobey. (Yeah I know, fat chance of that happening, right?)

I don't see why Spider-Man couldn't be a member of The Avengers though. Fury said in the Trailer that "We decided to assemble a group of extraordinary people to fight the battles that we couldn't."

Wouldn't a guy like Spider-Man, who swings around New York and constantly saves people's lives be sought after by S.H.I.E.L.D?

I think they would go the Ultimate Spider-Man route where he is a kid that Fury keeps tabs on.

The rights to Spider-Man's films (along with Ghost Rider's) are owned by Sony. While, the rights to X-Men & I think Fantastic Four/Daredevil are owned by Fox.

I'm not sure about FF/DD since Fox hasn't done anything with those rights in a while. Fox hasn't done anything with the DD license since 2005. Those should hopefully end up with Marvel again soon.

I'd probably give my left hand in order for Marvel studios to reacquire the rights to the spider-man movies

I hope that happens and that you're missing a hand. :woot:

if you don't have the guts to give your right hand it's probably not going to happen.

:woot:
Forildo: almost nothing on God's green earth would make me happier than having a Marvel Studio's produced Spider-man film. Dare I say it, that'd be even worth the right hand.

^ I hope you are sitting in the movie theatre, reaching for your popcorn and finding just a stump there.

Not initially...

But I'd expected to see Spider-Man maybe in Avengers #2 or Avengers #3.

absolutely he should be in the film series, even at the cameo level.. if they follow the "traditional" arc of the comics, Spider-Man is largely mistrusted by police, etc., and early attempts to join the team were derailed for an assortment of reasons.. and in the Ulitmates world he's clearly under 18, so SHIELD does not officially recruit him..

You Fury was waiting for the kid to be legal and now he has to wait for the new guy.

Very true :woot:

I don't even think Ultimate Fury is in the Ultimate universe anymore. He's in some other universe or something.

Well I'm of the mind Spidey works best as a solo character who a few close connections to other heroes/anti-heroes like Black Cat, Fantastic Four and Daredevil...but he's not one for big team-ups or a sustained team dynamic. Marvel's recent push of making him an Avenger, much like everything they've done to him recently, reminds me of how I've always felt about Batman being in Justice League....why? It doesn't fit the character's personality and that personality doesn't gel well with the rest of the assorted characters.

Anyways, Marvel would likely have Spidey cameo in other heroes' movies to raise awareness but keep him out of the Avengers film until an inevitable sequel (or at least an after-credit scene).

But it doesn't matter, because Sony owns the rights. And unless TAS completely bombs, that ain't happening. And I don't see TAS bombing. Underperforming due to it being essentially a remake of a very popular movie from ten years ago? Sure. But it will make enough for Sony to want to make more in the series.

Marvel would input spidey because he is icon in the world & he's can work solo or team...can't doubt it...so why not??

Spidey is no Avenger, never was, never will be. Just wait for better times when Bendis finally leaves the books and someone else takes over. I can't wait for the inevitable "It was all a bad dream!" explanation.

I don't think that Spider-Man belongs in the Avengers, either. Neither does Wolverine, for that matter. They seem shoehorned into the team. If/when they decide to retcon Spidey's presence away, my money's on Wanda as the deus ex machina, or maybe Mephisto.

By the way, how many Avengers books are there now? The last time I looked it was a confusing mess, with a secret team and a dark team and light team and a semisweet team....
