Bruce_Wayne29 said:But it WOULD be a Superman movie. Just with the Smallville cast (well at least 3 or 4 of them).
A Superman movie that cost A LOT less to make, could have a much shorter running time, and come with a built in devoted audience. It may have been just another Superman movie, but it would have been a much more profitable Superman movie for WB.Bruce_Wayne29 said:But it WOULD be a Superman movie. Doesn't matter. Check the tracking data. SR is not attracting a 'wide' audience (see POTC 2 for what a wide audience is). SR is appealing to Superman fans (casual and hardcore), and that audience would pay to see an SV movie just like SV fans paid to see SR.Superman1980 said:A built in devoted audience, yes. but could it have reached a wider audience???

Verses Clark's love life as an adult?Kal-El 8 said:And it's more about Clark's love life as a teenager
Verses the man of steel dealing with adolescence?than about him moving from The Teenager dealing with adolescence to THE MAN OF STEEL
Nuuuu..... it's truth, justice, and .... all that other stuff. The Man that Stands For Truth , Justice & The American Way !!!
Give him time. He's still working on it. It's better than having him already BE the world's greatest superhero, yet act like he did when he was 13, right?I'm sorry but I can't see this guy one day becoming THE WORLD'S GREATEST SUPERHERO.
It'll happen. Wait for it...So No I don't hate smallville, But I think it need to start focusing on What's really Important, Clark becoming SUPERMAN.

Superman1980 said:I understand what you're saying and i guess we could go back and forth all day with our own views on the subject. I just feel that a Superman film using the Smallville cast wouldn't have had as big an impact as the film we've got because they'd be so many people (i'm not one of them, so don't get the wrong idea) that wouldn't bother watching a "smallville film" because they either don't like the show or don't see it as Superman

Oh, I like THAT love triangle.Kal-El 8 said:The Adult life Relationship with Lois has a lot more depth to it. Since the love triangle in the beginning Lois has no idea, that SUPERMAN is in fact Clark Kent.
THE MAN OF STEEL, is much more Mature in dealing with adolescence, than his teenager self. And he doesn't deal with it every single freaking day.
Chloe: I just want to know what you stand for.lol, you liked SR
Lana: I didn't know you were into astronomy.
You and me both!!!!I look forward to The Day THE MAN OF STEEL in Red cape & Blue tights makes his first appearence.
You're a good sport.I know .
Bruce_Wayne29 said:I believe those ppl feel this way because of the way it's being said "SV film" - they think that just because it has the same actors from the show is has to be exactly what they did or do now on the show. Forgetting that it's own time frame (the one the producers set for themselves) is often limiting and makes them have to stretch things for a long time (even because it's tv) and on a movie and after the story they proposed to tell on the show is over, you can have fun and do other kinds of stuff without having to delay the inevitable.
As for the impact the show speaks for itself, biggest and most watched Warner Bros. television show in the world, with a huge fanbase worldwide that generates over 200 million in profits from tv, dvd and merchandise sales. That is big business and that's a big franchise. And one big reason why the show made such an impact aside from the non-campy aproach and giving us a more human and relatable side to the mythology is the cast. They really hit the jackpot with 98% of the cast and their approach to these characters we love so much. And when you have a guy that acomplishes the feat of being already looked up as Superman without ever wearing the suit speaks volumes on how Tom Welling is a big reason why alot of us started to believe in Superman again and why the show is such a sucess. And a big reason why Warner invested in a movie again.
And when that feature has a guy that was chosen by a director (when the vast majority of ppl demanded TW in the role) to not only sell us the notion that not only he is Superman but the Superman we grew up loving (by exploring our emotional connections to Chris) and when the torch has already been passed for over 5 years, you put him in a horrible suit, in a dubious premise and make us relive the original movie over and over again to the point of rescuing several one liners to the point of being painfully unfunny, make him once again - and in a movie filled with nostalgia - once again fight natural disasters and real estate schemes and you make a 2h plus movie in which the character is being put in a Christ like images all the time thus destroying the relatable (that's why Superman comics went down the drain in the late 80's) image that was built these 5 years and why alot of ppl were pumped to see a new movie anyway, you're asking for trouble.
That's why Spidey is so sucessful. And that's why a movie with Tom, Michael, Erica, Annette would make a hell of a difference. And I know several ppl who don't like or don't watch the show regularly and they wanted Tom to play the role in a movie so I don't believe you have to be a fan to enjoy the actor's work be it Tom or the rest of the guys.

I was.lol, I thought you were quoting Perry White from SR.
He must have been concerned about Richard's welfare too - superhearing and all that.I thought it was sweet , In SR, he used his X-ray vision to see Lois, It showed how much he cares for her. And that she safe.
I got you in a good mood tonight. Awesome!Indeed
I have a good teacher

Sorry, couldn't resist.
I'm wondering if DC will undo the whole marriage thing down the road. Don't get me wrong - I like it the way it is now - but I have to laugh at that A&E special with the writer from DC who said they think about having it turn out to be a dream or something all the time.
Third sequel? LOLOLOL! Lets let them get to a second one first.![]()
I was.
But a lot of folks forgot about that line in Drone. I'm kinda glad they "undid" it last season though; it seems to have been a bone of contention among overly patriotic critics. It's the small stuff, I guess.

Kal, in all honesty (no chain-yanking this time), just because they're "signed" doesn't mean a film or films will be made. Nick Cage was signed to play Superman. Hell, he was even PAID to play Superman...Kal-El 8 said:Bosworth & routh plus Spacey are all sign on to do two more movies . So is Sam & Sups son Jason ., Who btw was an awesome Jimmy Olsen...
