Gee thanks... didnt realise I had ever said anything to you that would make you hate me. Whatever...?

I don't hate you. I hate everyone else....because no one is allowed to like me. I get all 'Pickly'.

Though, you can smile at me when I'm not looking. :O

I completely understand there. I remember back in the day when the RotS fanboys tried to convince me that I liked Episode III. I like talking about movies, but at the end of the day, this movie was too emotionally polarizing to have rational discussion on either side. That and RotS was easily the worst movie of 2005.

I completely agree... I can't stand RoTS...

*shudder*

Sometimes, I just don't get it. How can they watch the pilot and say that this is a bad show? The pilot is an amazing piece of television--some of the best I've ever seen. And trust me, I've seen a lot of television in my 21 years on this planet. :D

I totally agree... aside from that one House episode from last season where House is teaching the diagnostics class (Three Stories, which won an emmy last year) I think Smallville's Pilot is some of the best TV I've ever seen.

What's not to love?

does it bother anyone other than me that we sv-ites have to constantly endure sr-ites coming to our forum praising sr when we obviously dont care?

That's not true, it was just Milkman defending his movie, let them, if it makes them feel better, and what do you expect with a thread like this 1?

Let the numbers and the general audience speak. The rest are just opinions on the internet of no importance. :D

I can understand your feelings. I hope I'm not obnoxious about it, cause it seems like I talk about it a lot. :O
You're never obnoxious, TK. And there's nothing wrong with liking SR either. It's the people that can't like SR without feeling they have to put down SV in the process. I found SR to be mediocre at best, but I have no desire to make the fans that loved it feel badly about it, at least not in a forum that's intended for fans that loved it. I wish we'd get the same consideration here.

And yeah.. the SV/TW bashing on B.T. gets to me. Especially the backhanded slaps like - "SV (or TW) is okay, BUT..." attitude. Puh-lease.. just save it for an SR forum..

Next time, do an IP check before jumping to conclusions. MJD isnt Kane. I just talked to him on aim, he only uses hollywoodland, the mods closed the others.
IP checks are next to useless.. and, do you always believe everything people tell you.. AND.. I'm afraid I don't really know you well enough to take your word for anything.

I can't have people liking me...then I won't have a 'schtick' anymore. :(

I'm not MJZ you know....the whole world doesn't love me like that.

Well I liked you..usually, even if I don't like some of the things you post.

Is my humor that bad? :(

I was joking about 99% of the stuff I posted..'hate' comes to mind. Except about MJZ, the world is his oyster.

I guess you can call it defending, but I think of it as just another view on the situation (which is another opinion, right?) I do agree with Hulk, it's underperforming pretty badly, but only when compared to the bloated budget. When compared to other films within the genre, it's performing adequately I guess.

I'm not a SV hater by any means, and most people should know that. I just challenge it. I watch the show so I come on here from time to time, that's all.

Looking forward to another season of SV as well as other film incarnations of Superman..............

I don't even know who Kane is.

Um... I think you've got it reversed. Shouldn't you be asking the dissenters that question? Here, lemme help...

Does it bother YOU that a $204M blockbuster film *about* Superman is apparently less popular with mass audiences than a popcorn film based on a Disney theme park ride, or a hackneyed comedy about working for a hard-nosed fashionista?

Since when does the box-office dictate how good a film is. Hell Citzen Kane bombed when it opened, there's been plenty of films not even liked untill long after they came out.

Does it bother YOU that the only film the TV show actor headlined made back its production budget at the domestic B.O. in NINE days, while a film directed by Bryan-X-Men-Singer can't seem to do the same without divine intervention?

I take it your talking about Fog, never seen it every review I read of it it got either one star or in one occasion a simple "OUCH"

Does it bother YOU that the actor who was chosen to headline the film can't act his way out of a phone booth, never less do a shirt rip in one?

The guy can act, so moving on

Does it bother YOU that at least four names in the "no" list above (Hal Jordan 8472, Hollywoodland, Silver Lad and Vandal Savage) are the same person?

Why would it?

Now I have a question for you, how does any of the post disprove what I said, just because Superman Returns didn't do so well doesn't automatically mean that a Smallville movie is going to be great?

I like Smallville, hell I prefer it to Superman Returns which was average at best. But lets be realistic here, there TV actors who will occasionally support major stars in major movies but thats the best they can hope for. Does it make them bad actors? No. Dennis Franz is a terrefic actor but he's only starred in TV shows like NYPD Blue and is in the occasional movie like Die Hard 2.

This dicussion happens with nearly every TV show like this, their fans put to much stock in the acting ablities of the stars, I remember I few years ago when Angel was still on fans were talking about its stars as if they were the future Tom Cruise's and Nicole Kidmans, David Boreanaz was piped to play Superman, Amy Acker was up for Lois Lane and Alexis Deniof was actually mentioned as a canidate for the Joker. What happened? Dvae is in a half decent cop show with an extra from Spider-Man 2, Amy is sometimes on Allias, Chrisma is on charmed and I haven't even heard of the rest doing anything.

Face facts they're just not good enough and no small but loyal fanbase will change that.

MJD that's your opinion and it will remain your opinion. If you think that ALL the SR cast was GOOD ENOUGH, then obviously you didn't watch the movie or you didn't pay enough attention.

What does Angel have to do with this? Who cares what happened to the Angel cast after the show?

You don't have a crystal ball, you don't predict the future, and you're obviously underestimating the SV cast and all the TV actors.

I love how started off by stating my opinion is just an opinion and that stated your opinion like a fact.

I used Angel as an example of a similar show with similar fans. It's a fair compariosn.

And no I'm not underestimating the SV cast. The best actors out of them all is John Glover and Michael Rosebuan, Glover is apparently a good stage actor but his biggest movie role was playing a dick in Scrooged and Michael Rosenbuan starred in Zoe Duncan Jack and Jane.
