Would you kill someone if you were offered everything and anything you ever wanted?

Would you kill a stranger for your own gain?

  • I'm picking out a casket for him as we speak

  • No way! Thats F***ed up!

god only said to "bind" isaac on an altar not to sacrafice him.
No, that's not true. Here is the text for you:

And he said, “Here am
I.” He said, “Take your son, your only son
Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of
Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering
upon one of the mountains of which I shall tell
you.”

He asks for him to sacrifice his son, i.e. kill him, on the altar. The descendants of Isaac being 'the chosen' is not addressed until later in genesis. Abraham is informed his kin will inherit the Earth, he is only informed it will be through Isaac later on. So at the time Abraham had no reason to believe a Ram would appear in his place.

however the heb. word for sacrifice also means to place on an altar without killing. abraham just misinterpreted.

This thread has officially been killed, as they always are. That said, I'm done. This was an interesting quandry for a few seconds, but alas.

Enjoy the religous debate guys
I blame ShadowBoxing

Only to those fiercely determined not to believe in God.

Oh, grow up:whatever:

What's amazing is your sheer certainty and blindness.
I would say that just as some are "fiercely determined" not to believe, you are equally "fiercely determined" TO believe.
Two sides, same coin, both equally iDiOtIc.

Now, can this thread please not devolve into a religious debate? That would be so much less interesting than the actual thread topic:down

I'd kill whoever the guy told me to kill, then after I got all my stuff, i'd kill him too.

And when Curly gave unto the horse,
the pepperinos. Thy horse did fly,
Thunderbolt was like a thief in the night,
Pray that Moe does not slapeth,
Pray that Larry rideth like zephyr,
Run away on the cattle with thy faith.

:thing: :doom: :thing:

Why kill the guy who could give you whatever you want? Just chain him up in your basement like Gimp from Pulp Fiction. When you need something else, go down there, pull the ball-gag from his mouth and tell him what you need. He'd be like your own personal ATM. :o

But then he could escape, and shrink your genitals to the size of mini carrots and two snow peas. :( No, better to just ask for like, 10 Billion Dollars and then off the guy. :o

In what way? How or why would maturity automatically require the rejection of faith?

What's amazing is your sheer certainty...
Thank you.

...and blindness.
Under what pretense are you assuming my faith is blind?

I would say that just as some are "fiercely determined" not to believe, you are equally "fiercely determined" TO believe.
You hit the nail right on the head with this one. When every excuse finally disappears, all people are divided between two camps: the will to believe in God, and the will not to believe in Him.

Don't forget the people who don't care!

and the people who don't believe either way.

I wouldn't be able to live with the guilt, so no. I feel guilty about getting a good grade on a half-assed assignment... so I can't imagine what killing someone would feel like...

Everyone cares about what will happen after death. They may say they don't, or even think they don't...but in their heart of hearts, that question still exists. People want to know that there's hope for us after mortality is done.

There is no such thing as a true atheist. people may fiercely reject (or even hate) God as defined in the Bible, but there's still a determination deep within them to either believe or not. Everything boils down to that.

do we need a religous debate threaD? ......actually i'm starting it right now.

Plus, it's not like it's gonna stop people from talking about it here.

Mmmmmm, snow peas.

You do know what an atheist is, yes?

Nice Wilhelm-speak. You need more font and size changing though.

I wouldn't generalize like that. I, frankly, don't care.
