Wolverine Trilogy...do you want it?

  • Yep, Wolverine can go a long ways!

Because FOX doesn't give a crap about telling truly compelling stories OR being loyal to the X-Men mythology.

1) Wolverine is not 6'3".
2) Wolverine is not the central hero of the Phoenix storyline and the only one who can stop the Phoenix.
3) Wolverine, in his "berskerker rage", would kill his own teammates (especially in the early days)... he doesn't just huff, puff, and stab some soldiers in the chest.

4) Wolverine doesn't make wisecracks like a class clown making fun of the other students. he gets shots in sometimes, but not like a clown
5) William Stryker was a preacher who murdered his newborn baby and his wife in cold blood the moment he saw his son was a mutant. He was not a scientist in charge of the Weapon X program, he had nothing to do with Wolverine in any way... we're going to get more confusing garbage like this...
6) Sabretooth was not a two dimensional moron who grunted and snarled once in a while

My point is, Avi Arad and Fox don't care about staying loyal to the subject matter. They have proven that point time and time again, but the X-fans keep coming back for more asian callistos and a wolverine who isn't only taller than wolverine is in the comics... but he's actually much taller than the average height! I understand that some things need to be changed in the transition to the big screen, but they barely even stay loyal to the underlying THEMES of the X-Tales. Now we've got yet another X-Men movie with the main actor working as producer. That is absolute garbage and shouldn't even be allowed in my opinion. That doesn't mean he's working hard to make sure the movie is good, it means he wants control or he's not doing it fools. He did it on X3 and we all remember how great of a film that turned out to be...

I want a FAN who understands how to translate to make the X-Men movies... not somebody who admits to never having read them before.

that's because you're trying to cram every little detail and in comic land, that's impossible. You have to stay true to the THEMES and important events. There are like 30 years of Wolverine story... of course it won't fit. Know what? There are like 50 years of Cyclops stories... there are 70 years of Superman stories... of course you can make a single movie about ANY comic book character. Wolverine is not on the top of the comic book character list when it comes to compelling storytelling. I say that belongs to the icons like Superman, Batman, Spider-Man, and the X-Men TEAM.

What you know Benioff was a big Wolverine fan and ditched other projects to do the movie script. He said he read a ton of his comics and his history can be peiced together in them.

Points one through six are not changeble now and have no issue in effecting his origin besides the fact that Sabretooth sucked in the X1.

Cyk has 50 years right? 50 years of being the same boyscout character that says and does everything right.

Superman has had 5 movies now and another coming so I think Logan can have one about his beginning.

What is not compelling about Wolverine...the fact that he had clues of his unanswered past and he went on searches to find out the truth....if it is not compelling then why is it the anchor of the X universe in the fact that they alluded to his past and the puzzles to them....the most compelling part is the fact that we don't know it all. We don't know everything that happened to him, whether he was a good agent when he worked in the gov't, whether he agreed or was tricked into doing the Weapon X project. And most of all we don't know what he'd do if he found it out and went back retracing his steps. If that's not compelling than what is? Cyclops' first pair of goggles. His leadership roles which are always the same. Flat characters don't make for compelling films. Rounded one do, mystical ones do...Wolverine is all of this.

Swifty that is one of those statements in which I can't understand where you would get your evidence from. Who hates Wolverine? If Wolverine is so hated then why are his sales on his Origin story going up and why is the DVD of X3 one of the hottest on the market. Who would boycott this? An anti-Marvel fan? This is what half the Xmen fans have been waiting for! I'm pumped

Trust me I'm with you on this, it's just that I've come across many negative comments from fans... like he's over used, he's becoming a lame character, he's drawn too much like Hugh Jackman, I hate the X-men trilogy cuz of too much wolvie......and so on so forth. Don't get me wrong I really do hope we get a wolvie trilogy.

Cool, trust me I understand why people hate the Wolvie in the X trilogy but I kinda like it. I kind of understand that the movie business and the comics are two different worlds. So we got our Wolvie in the comics and our Wolvie in the movies....know what I mean. The translation from comics to film is difficult. I wish they had done it better but I'm proud that they made a great effort. I do think we get the real Wolvie in some parts but in others...not so much.

You see I LOVE the Wolvie in the comics and I just LIKE the Wolvie on film. I do wish it could be more like the comics like Larry says. Oh well, I'm still satisfied.

Oh and I know people are tired of seeing Wolvie in X films but it'll cool down by the time the movie comes out in 08 or 09. I hope we don't get annoyed by the same old Wolvie from the movies but on the contrary it sounds like he's gonna be a lot different. Especially cause there's a new writer and Marvel Studios(there own film studios...yes that's badass) will have creative control.

Blade Deserves a Trilogy not Wolverine!!!!!......

I like Blade...but seriously...beyond his first film the series went down hill and not much was expected with Blade as is Wolverine. They really didn't have to follow Blade's comic book story for it to be successful. With Wolverine there are alot of diehard fans and it would be a travasty to me if they threw all his past, his struggle to deal with the past and his closure to be in one film. Blade is sweet, I love the movies but I don't respect them as great films bc no one went to see them expecting Blade to be parallel to his comic character. Wolverine has expectations, atleast from me, they can't just be beat 'em all up and have him fight Sabretooth to be a prequel. Besides, though Blade's past is sad and he sought revenge for what was done to him, his past is not as deep and long as Logan's. But once again let me convince you...I love Blade.

Is there a reason he doesn't deserve a trilogy or even a sequel? Serious question that cant be answered with he doesn't deserve it.

I think the second Blade was pretty cool. Now Trinity was where it went downhill. But I think the people in control can together a Wolverine trilogy and make it good. They really need to think about the story and everything. I read somewhere that Vinnie Jones might be returning as Juggernaut, and I ask, why? Do not put Juggernaut in this movie. Sabretooth is the right choice.

I wouldn`t mind a Wolverine trilogy as long as they made more X-Men movies...I love Wolverine and he is one of my favorite X-Men but I want to see my other favorite X-Men get to shine in some movies like Colossus,Angel,Gambit,Iceman,Beast,Bishop and Emma

I agree about Sabretooth and no Juggs. I want to see more X movies too. But most of all I want to see Gambit in those movies.

Being a Wolvie fan I would like it, but I already know it won't happen.
I remember Hugh saying that he does love this character, but he DID say he couldn't pull it off forever. (He's getting closer to age 40, and his age showed in X3, but then again, it would have been just fine if he had better hair)

But the character has looked 35 to 40 something his whole X career. Hugh getting older really helps with how Wolvy should look. The last thing I want is a replacement. And if they can get a trilogy or one sequel done before he turns 46 then that means he just doesn't want the part anymore. And I don't think thats the case. I think he just met for X4 or X5 and on.

Actually Wolverine is supposed to be like a 35 year old in his prime, even though hes over 100. Hugh looks about right. Basically looks the same in all 3 movies. Besides, this is Hollywood were talking about. Good example is Terminator 3. Arnold is like 59 but he looks 30 something. Hugh's got plenty of time to do a trilogy.

Why not? Give Wolverine as much screen time as you can, but PLEASE have it written well. I hope they do more than have him fight Sabertooth though....

Atleast we know Hugh doesn't look old at all. The older he gets the better for the character.

Yea, he does look more and more like Wolverine with every movie.

Personaly I'd like three. I'd handle this one as a main Weapon X storyline, with brief jumbled flashbacks of scenes from origin to show that he had a seriously messed up past, but keep the audience guessing.

For the second movie, I would have it be after the events of X-3 and go with a Japanese themed story, preferably the Shingin/Mariko storyline, just because I think that storyline is awesome. You could end with with Wolverine being Happy with Mariko, and give him a sense of closure.

Then, for the last movie, go back and do a prequel yet again, but have it be just the Origin storyline, and that would fully complete Logan's story.

I would think a Wolverine sequal would involve Omega Red, but it would be about something other than the tired old "Carbonadium Synthesizer" plot.

Hey, it's not tired in the movies and that's what counts.

Yea but that plot doesnt have enough depth for it to be in the movie, or maybe it could with some creativity. Doesnt matter to me, as long as Red is in the movie. Although he may not be in it if Wolverine kills him in Origins #9. Then again, Sabretooth might also be killed in Wolverine #51. http://marvel.com/catalog/?book_id=5967
