Would you / Would you not thread

I don't know if that is such a good example for this type of question. there is a poster called ultimatewebhead, who is a firefighter, and he says that situation in Spider-man 2 is a lot of baloney, that he would have been dead pretty much as soon as he spent any time in the building, and explained why.
and that's the point, life is not like the movies..

It's very true and thanks for the reference. :woot:

Now, the only way I would enter a burning building to save someone, would be if i knew I had a good chance of saving both that person, and coming out alive myself, and I really do not know how you would evaluate that situation in real life, you don't have x-ray vision, you don't know how bad the fire is, or are educated , like the firefighter, on what level of fire is survivable, and for what length of time.

This. It makes no sense to put yourself in harms way unless there is a chance for both of you to survive. What good does it do anyone to have two dead people instead of just one? Here's another point...did you start the fire? Did you put the person or persons that are trapped, inside the burning building? If the answer is no (which I hope it is) there is no reason to feel guilty about not trying to save them. Especially if you get close enough to the building and it's too hot to even go inside, the chance of sruvivability for that trapped person is pretty much a 0. It is no joke about how traumatic an incident as losing someone in a fire...I know, I've seen it and there's nothing movie-like about it. First rule though, protect yourself.

Would you or wouldn't you become a superhero if you attained special abilities?

I probably wouldn't. If I saw someone in trouble, then yeah I'd save them. But that wouldn't be my focus. I'd goof off and maybe use it to get ahead too.

i know for a fact I'd become a bonafide superhero rightaway, so many a****** in the world that need sorting out, who are just getting away with murder.
I'd go to organisations like amnesty international, get the lowdown on all the best situations to take care of.

I... wouldn't want you trying to save the world. You might destroy the world with one, long, run-on sentence.

As other people said, it depends on the powers. But also, life isn't scripted like a comic book or movie. How often do you just happen to stumble across a crime in progress, or needing to save someone from danger? So short of having powers like Superman, where you can see/hear these crimes from miles away, and have the ability to get there quickly, plus the invulnerability and strength to overcome the obsticle, there really wouldn't be any point. Also in real life, no matter how much "good" you do (and I put it in quotation marks because good is subjective) the government would consider you a national security risk.

In risk of sounding like a monster, hell no! I'm not a trained fire fighter. If I ran into a burning building, I might just get myself killed. How would that help anyone?

I missed the fire question, but it is pretty much this...unless it is someone I cared about and knew I could make it out with both of us surviving. As others have mentioned, what good would it do if I went into that maze of a apartment and died?

Now, for the current question, as people mentioned, it depends on the powers. If I got Superman's powers I'd probably gain the confidence to try my hand at world domination. If I had powers like the ability to talk to machinery...I'd just sit in my corner and ignore it.

Would you or would you not take some money from a missing wallet before returning it? Even if it's just one dollar or less?

Personally, I wouldn't. I'm somewhat of a 'boy scout' so I wouldn't even take a cent.

If it was a decent amount of cash I would take it.

I wouldn't. This has actually happened to me. I found a wallet and it had quie a bit of cash in it at my old school. I just turned it into the nearby office...

My policy is that if I find money on the ground, it's mine. If I find money inside of someone's wallet or purse, it belongs to the owner of the wallet or purse.

I wouldn't take the money. Not unless I was incapable of finding the owner.

:up::up:
I found a wallet in a parking lot and turned it into the stores customer service department once.
I also used to find people's school ID's all the time. Their school email address is on them, so I used to always try to return them.

I feel the same way.

Would you or wouldn't you become a superhero if you attained special abilities?

I would as long as I was super strong and invulnerable. Flight would be a plus but not needed. I would definitely cover my entire face and body so I couldn't be identified. Not even by race.

Oh yeah, if it's the money on the ground by itself alone, then hell yeah it's going in my pocket. If there are people around I may ask, did anyone drop any money. If I'm lucky enough they will be honest.

That's one of the biggest downsides to being a superhero. Some people won't trust you and everyone would try to track you down.

I would, and I have.

Would you or wouldn't you kidnap and run away with a younger sibling if both of you are young, parents have just died, and they're going to separate you in foster care?

I would kidnap my sibling and run away. This scenario is often done in tv dramas and I've related to it due to the fear of bouncing around an orphanage and knowing how important it is not lose family. Kinda personally invested too due to being an orphan albeit adopted, so kinda colors how I view the scenario.

How young are each of us, exactly?

You're at least teenaged, under 18. Sibling ranges in age from four to just a year or two younger than you.

I wouldn't.

I don't steal.

Depends on alot of factors.

Just beacuse you get seperated in foster care doesn't necessarily mean you will lose contact and be seperated forever like in the movies.

Not all foster families are evil or bad people either.

If we run away will we be able to feed, shelter ourselves and provide a decent future for us. It may be short sighted to runway for a tempoary separation.

Would you or would you not run into a apartment fire to save someone's life?
If I thought I genuinely had a chance of saving lives then yes I would run into a burning building
Would you or wouldn't you become a superhero if you attained special abilities?
No I wouldn't become a superhero. Superheroes wouldn't work in real life.

I would help people if I saw they were in trouble but to be honest I would mostly use my powers to create finacial gain for myself.

.

I had relatives that could have taken us in. So fortunately I don't think that would be a problem.

@Ultimatehero: Not if my sibling was going into good care.

Not really the notion of 'evil foster parents' but the need to hold onto one's blood relatives. I mean my adoptives are practically the Kents. It's just kind of difficult to explain lol. That connection/tie? I'd fight to keep it. Plus orphanages scare me for some reason. Not what they're doing, that's good and awesome. But the notion of being stuck in one my whole life is still a valid and very real 'alternate reality' to me.

Would you or wouldn't you help teens sneak into a rated R movie you're going to (and you don't know these teens)?

Might be because I'm young, but I would and do. I think restricting is taking a free will and right away. A parent says it's okay if their kids see it, why do they need to be with them? I've been through this before myself. I've never understood that. So I've always helped the 'little deviants' get past the cops lol.

I guess it depends on the movie. If it's a movie filled with sex, like... say... Shame, then HELL NO. The only reason they're going to see something like that is to see boobs.

But if it's an action movie, like The Matrix or Gladiator, then I'd totally let them in.

However, if it's my job on the line, then no.

I took my niece and her BF, both teens to see Expendables with my brother. I forget how old...they were just about to start Highschool or just did. Yeah? Think I'm taking them to see new one. I never got asked if they were my kids. The law got changed from parent to adult...at least for Carmike theaters.

Wouldnt take from someone's wallet.
I might run away with my younger sibling. Depends on the foster care I guess.
I wouldnt become a superhero, but I'd try to help people
Wouldnt sneak kids into an r rated movie
