Watching the NXT Women's Division now reminds me a bit of the WWE Divas Division during the last year of AJ Lee. Outside of AJ, there was Paige, Naomi, Tamina, Natalya, Alicia, Nikki, Brie, Layla, Summer Rae, Rosa Mendes and Cameron. Paige was a great in-ring wrestler and so is Natalya, but Nattie doesn't have her uncle's charisma and I don't think she was seen all that often during the last year of AJ. I think today, Nikki is an okay wrestler. Not great but okay. Same goes for Brie and Alicia. Naomi is decent. To me, all of the recent NXT call ups since AJ left were due to the mass exodus of females from 2010 to 2015.
For a few years after Trish and Lita departed, there was some stability in the Women's Division. Outside of Candice Michelle, there weren't any significant departures from 2007 to 2010. It started in 2010 when Mickie James left. In 2011, we saw Melina, Gail Kim, Maryse and Beth Phoenix leave. Kelly-Kelly left in 2012 followed by Eve and Kaitlyn and in 2015 months before the call ups of Charlotte, Becky and Sasha both AJ Lee and Layla left. That's ten women in a span of five years, many of whom played significant roles in the division in the Post-Trish/Post-Lita Era.
The current crop of Women is commonly known as the "Women's Evolution Era" but I also call it the "Post AJ Lee Era."
