Well I don't know what Jason says, but there is no such thing as bisexuals... bisexual men are just scared guys pretending they like women because they are afraid to come out and say the truth :p
ooh great....you're one of those:whatever:

I'll just put it this way.

''THEY WISH TO CURE US, BUT I SAY TO YOU WE ARE THE CURE. THE CURE FOR THE PERFECT CONDITION CALLED HETEROSEXUAL."

''Who will you stand with, the heteros or us?!"

you forgot my favorites! :cmad:

"Welcome to the future....brother."

"And I will bring you hope old friend. And I ask only one thing in return...don't get in my way."

"The war has begun..."

"You are a god among insects. Never let anyone tell you different."

"You should have killed me when you had the chance! "

you know...anything from Magneto's mouth is pure gold

ACtually it should be said anything from sir Ian McKellen's Magneto is pure gold. Comic book Magneto isn't nowhere near as cool as McKellen's Magneto :p

I love the whole "You will not be safe" speech in X3... that is to drool for :p

Actually all of Movie Magneto's lines are just perfect

^Definitely! :) I don't understand how some people can criticise Ian's portrayal of the character. I mean sure he is a bit scrawny compared to his comic counterpart, but he is way cooler and has a definite edge to him. I never even knew who Magneto was before I saw X1. :woot:

there isnt.... its part of the bargaining phase

yay!! we are legion!!! Down with the self-deluded, self-proclamated "bi"!! It's either the gay way or the highway!!! It is impossible to walk the line between. You're either with us or against us :p!

:whatever:
bisexuals can, and do, exist.
sexuality is fluid. it's the emotional connection that makes you gay or straight.

i find plenty of girls attractive, but i don't feel romantic feelings for them.
that's the difference.

nope, it's a matter of who i actually like at the time, it doesnt matter if it's a guy or girl.

Did "Grey's" Brawl Force Knight Out of the Closet?

T.R. Knight"Grey's Anatomy" star T.R. Knight told PEOPLE exclusively that he is gay. But was this coming out of his own free will, or as a result of the much-hyped fight between "Grey's" stars Isaiah Washington and Patrick Dempsey?

PEOPLE released a statement from Knight today that said, "While I prefer to keep my personal life private, I hope the fact that I'm gay isn't the most interesting part of me."

But the National Enquirer may have tipped us off to the story when they reported that during the fight between Washington and Dempsey, Washington yelled, "I'm not your little ****** like (name deleted)."

The Enquirer said they withheld the name of the co-star Washington mentioned "because of the extreme nature of the slur."

Does Knight's disclosure confirm the Enquirer's story?

Calls to Washington's reps were not immediately returned.

Melissa Etheridge and her partner Tammy are the new parents of a son and a daughter, PEOPLE has learned.

Their son Miller Steven and their daughter Johnnie Rose were born on Tuesday. Both Tammy and babies are in excellent health, according to their rep.

"The creation of life brings about immeasurable love, and pours hope into the future," the couple said in a statement. "The joy will help carry us through our upcoming sleepless nights."

Etheridge, 45, and Tammy, 31, who has acted on TV's Committed and The L Word, exchanged vows in Malibu in September 2003. Etheridge already has two children from a previous relationship with Julie Cypher: daughter Bailey Jean, 9, and son Beckett, 7.

Bailey Jean and Beckett were conceived via artificial insemination courtesy of friend and rock legend David Crosby

In October 2005, Etheridge told PEOPLE that having more kids was in the works. "I look forward to bringing more children into a loving home and having them there my entire life," she said. "It could heal a lot of things that have happened to me."

Etheridge, diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004, made her post-chemo stage debut at last year's Grammys, where she stopped the show with her rendition of Janis Joplin's "Piece of My Heart."

Crediting Michaels as being instrumental in her successful health battle, Etheridge also told PEOPLE in 2005: "We thought about children before the diagnosis but were sidetracked."

When the couple announced this pregnancy in April, the singer and the actress said in a joint statement on Etheridge's official Web site, "To answer the obvious question: We used an anonymous donor from a bank."

They also said, "These are our first two babies conceived together, but not our first time mothering together. For the past five years, we have been parenting two children from a previous time in Melissa's life. The twins will be a joyful addition to our loving home."

Saying, "We are a blessed family," the two requested "that no gifts be sent. Any gifts we receive we will donate to a local women's shelter. However, well wishes are more than welcome!"

NJ court stops short of gay marriage OK

By GEOFF MULVIHILL, Associated Press Writer 54 minutes ago

TRENTON, N.J. - New Jersey's Supreme Court opened the door to gay marriage Wednesday, ruling that homosexuals are entitled to the same rights as heterosexuals, but leaving it to lawmakers to legalize same-sex unions.

The high court gave lawmakers 180 days to rewrite marriage laws to either include same-sex couples or create a new system of civil unions for them.

The ruling is similar to the 1999 decision in Vermont that led to civil unions there, which offer the benefits of marriage, but not the name.

"Although we cannot find that a fundamental right to same-sex marriage exists in this state, the unequal dispensation of rights and benefits to committed same-sex partners can no longer be tolerated under our state Constitution," Justice Barry T. Albin wrote for the 4-3 majority's decision.

Outside the Supreme Court, news of the ruling caused confusion, with many of the roughly 100 gay marriage supporters outside asking each other what it meant. Many started to agree that they needed to push for a state constitutional amendment to institute gay marriage.

Garden State Equality, New Jersey's main gay and lesbian political organization quickly announced Wednesday that three lawmakers would introduce a bill in the Legislature to get full marriage rights to same-sex couples.

Gay couples in New Jersey can already apply for domestic partnerships under a law the Legislature passed in 2004 giving gay couples some benefits of marriage, such as the right to inherit possessions if there is no will and healthcare coverage for state workers.

Democratic Gov. Jon S. Corzine supports domestic partnerships, but not gay marriage.

Supporters pushing for full gay marriage have had a two-year losing streak in state courts including New York, Washington, and in both Nebraska and Georgia, where voter-approved bans on gay marriage were reinstated.

They also have suffered at the ballot boxes in 15 states where constitutions have been amended to ban same-sex unions.

Cases similar to the one ruled on Wednesday, which was filed by seven by gay New Jersey couples, are pending in California, Connecticut, Iowa and Maryland.

"New Jersey is a stepping stone," said Matt Daniels, president of the Virginia-based Alliance for Marriage, a group pushing for an amendment to the federal Constitution to outlaw same-sex marriage. "It's not about New Jersey."

Not sure if any of this is covered at all, I skipped a few pages, but I did manage to catch the tail end of the "bi" discussion.

I myself identify myself as being bisexual, whether or not people believe it is up to them, but I would say my big draw in the X-men world are the characters who are conflicted. Where do they belong? Everywhere? Nowhere? I'll focus mainly on the Jean Grey/Phoenix duality. The struggle for each of them is to be in control, Jean wants to control the unstable Phoenix (in the movie universe, I am not well versed in the comic storyline), while Phoenix wants nothing more than to control Jean and thereby be free. There are these two sides of her that war against eachother. I find that this character is a very fitting metaphor for someone who is has not learned to deal with or accept their homosexuality.

Some gay people and even bisexual people would argue that to reveal themselves, or to embrace and flaunt their sexuality would be dangerous for them, and those around them. They could be persecuted, threatened, or even killed. In terms of reading sexuality into the movie X-men, I see Jean's struggle with herself as a great metaphor for those who feel conflicted and repressed sexually. Xavier even warns her that she is a danger to herself and those she loves, and pleads with her to let him help. If I am going to continue to read into this, that scene could make a nice parallel to someone trying to help someone "control" their sexuality.

Continuing to read into the movies this way, Jean has been tampered with, altered in her head to block out this other side of her, slowly the other side of her, repressed, begins to show itself more and more violently until it eventually wreaks havoc on those she loves. For those who feel that their families or friends would be hurt or affected by them, they would not want them to see their other side. In this way, Jean represents a feeling that can be identified with easily I am sure by those who are struggling to understand themselves for who they really are. Jean is conflicted, is she an X-man, or is she a member of the Brotherhood? The dichotomy of the Jean/Phoenix character seems to hold a wealth of comparison not just for the uses of this topic and the presentation you're writing, but for anyone who feels conflicted.

This is the english student in me rambling on... take it with a grain of salt,
hope this gives you something to work with on some level!

Bishops adopt gay outreach guidelines

By RACHEL ZOLL, AP Religion Writer 40 minutes ago

BALTIMORE - The nation's Roman Catholic bishops adopted new guidelines for gay outreach Tuesday that are meant to be welcoming, while also telling gays to be celibate since the church considers their sexuality "disordered."

Gay Catholic activists said the approach was so contorted and flawed that it would alienate the very people it was trying to reach.

The statement, "Ministry to Persons with a Homosexual Inclination," was adopted by a 194-37 vote, with one abstention, at a meeting of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.

The bishops also overwhelmingly adopted separate statements encouraging Catholics to obey the church's widely ignored ban on artificial contraception, and directing parishioners to examine their consciences to decide if they are worthy of receiving Holy Communion.

Anyone who knowingly persists in sinful behavior, such as gay sex or using artificial birth control, should refrain from taking Communion, the bishops said.

"To be a Catholic is a challenge," said Bishop Arthur Serratelli of Paterson, N.J., chairman of the bishops' doctrine committee. "To be a Catholic requires a certain choice."

Presenting the gay ministry document at the meeting, Serratelli acknowledged that gay and lesbian Catholics "have a difficult task in this world, but this task is necessary and good."

"The tone of the document is positive, pastoral and welcoming," Serratelli said. "Its starting point is the intrinsic human dignity of every person and God's love for every person."

But gay Catholic groups thought the bishops' approach was flat-out wrong.

Francisco DeBernardo, executive director of New Ways Ministry, an independent outreach to Catholic gays that has run afoul of some church leaders, said the guidelines "do not reflect good science, good theology or human reality."

"This document proposes that lesbian and gay people be viewed not in the entirety of their lives, but in one dimension only — the sexual dimension," DeBernardo said. "No other group in the church is singled out in this way."

The guidelines condemn discrimination against gays and say it's not a sin to be attracted to someone of the same sex — only to act on those feelings.

The bishops also underscore Catholic opposition to gay marriage and adoption by gay and lesbian couples, but also say children of gay Catholics can be baptized if they are being raised in the faith.

Under the guidelines, parishes are instructed to help Catholics avoid "the lifestyle and values of a 'gay subculture.'" Gays also are discouraged from telling anyone about their sexual orientation outside a close circle of friends and supporters in the church.

On the subject of therapy to change same-sex attraction, the bishops said there is no scientific consensus on whether it can succeed. But church leaders say gays are free to seek counseling to help them live a chaste life.

Sam Sinnett, president of DignityUSA, an advocacy group for gay Catholics, said the document is damaging because it recommends that gays "stay emotionally and spiritually in the closet."

Separately, the bishops voted to restructure the conference's Washington headquarters, so American dioceses would send less money to the conference, which would in turn cut jobs and committees.

Bishops have complained for years that the funds they turn over for conference work are badly needed in their home dioceses. The bishops are trying to streamline their agenda, focusing on support for married couples, an increase in the number of candidates for the priesthood and better educating Catholics on church teaching.

The bishops ended their public sessions Tuesday, meeting behind closed doors through Thursday. On Monday, the bishops urged national policymakers to leave behind the campaign season's "shrill and shallow debate" over
Iraq and help end sectarian violence, so that citizens of the war-torn nation can find peace.

wow...Carol Channing is pretty stupid for saying this...

Carol Channing Damages Her Relationship With God, Gays?

Any vaguely sensible star knows that you’ve not truly made it until the drag queens start impersonating you. But Carol Channing, who has earned a coterie of crooning women-who-happen-to-be-men performing as versions of her in their acts, has angered many of her most committed fans by lashing out at the gay community. In a recent interview with The Gay People’s Chronicle Channing was asked about her relationship with her gay fans and reportedly said: “I don’t think about them. They’re terribly loyal to me. But I’m knee-deep in the Bible and you know what it says about that.” That sort of talk is enough to warrant a ***** slap or five, but Channing didn’t stop there. “I don’t think about [gay rights]” she apparently went on to say. “If they can’t take care of their own problems, why should I bother. It’s not my problem.”

Meanwhile, we’re worried about the effect fallout from this will have on Channing’s career. (Former fan Perez Hilton’s comment? “It’s okay. Channing is 85. She’s gonna die soon.”) Even more concerning, though, is Channing’s relationship with God, which may not be as solid as she thinks. When asked if she goes to church every Sunday, Channing replied: “No. I am too busy creating.” Skipping church to produce material enjoyed by cardinal sinners on their way to hell can’t get you right with God, we’re thinking.

Interesting articles... wasn't expecting to see those when I hit the thread.

Have there ever actually been any gay female characters in the X universe? I don't recal coming across any, which is a shame since its another corner left open.

Karma is a lesbian. Mystique is bisexual. (shut it sebita before you even say it. :p) Destiny was either bisexual or gay. Sunfire from the Exiles was a lesbian as well.

Dude, I need to engage brain before posting. Please excuse the 8AM post above... Saying that though, how many of them are main characters that get a reasonable amount of space?
