Dark Phoenix X-Men: Dark Phoenix News and Speculation Thread

I believe in Simon Kinberg! He is motivated by a desire to make Dark Phoenix Saga great again.

The notion that Kinberg knows he messed up the first time and will do a better job this time is misguided.

If there's no talent there to begin with then no amount of Acts of Contrition will suddenly make him a better writer/director.

(and we get to see like, Shane Black's Predator too)

Hopefully my big screen debut isn't cut from the film lol

Btw, just back from Spidey. Loved it!

RIP Joan Lee.

Hope you didn't post that to be funny.

I managed to get through the Phoenix Saga. And now on to Dark Phoenix.
I'm surprised how well Wolverine and the X-Men was able to do DOFP and DPh in 3 episodes.

Eh.....really? I didn't care for how Wolverine and the X-men show handled DPh at all. I thought TAS felt far more grander and it was also closest adaptation to the comic saga we've ever got. While I liked some of the stories from Evolution, these later animated x-men tv shows just didn't seem like the X-men I recognized growing up which was probably why I preferred TAS since that was closest depiction to the comics. I just didn't care for the younger kid versions of these characters for some reason.....

As someone said that dialogue isn't oscar worthy but its fine exposition.

And i am assuming the "from the ashes of this world" line was taken from the 90s cartoon.

I grew up with the 90s cartoon, its very nostalgic to me and i do think its got some great episodes that still stand up today... but the dialogue in that show isn't all that great.

I've heard people talk about this early draft. Any idea where I can read it? Also, I remember Singer saying in an interview before the release of DoFP that getting the dialogue right was a priority for him. He micromanaged that script HARD.

YGPM

That script amazes me. It's the same movie. The same plot points, and the same structure... just with the most cringe worthy dialog. It amazes me how we got such a great film.

Same here haha. To his credit, he did provide the film's plot points. But DOFP is Singer, Ottman, and the cast at the top of their game. I really hope the actors are in their peak form for Dark Phoenix and improvise whenever the dialogue gets shoddy. It seems like Singer and some of the cast (J. Law for example, and with the exception of James and Michael) were on autopilot in Apocalypse (and I'm an Apocalypse apologist).

I've enjoyed all of the shows but Dark Phoenix saga was definitely done better in TAS.

Tas is the best X-Men animated series ever! The theme song is also forever iconic!

That says Kinberg is just there for The Gifted. Donner is there for The Gifted AND Legion, if that counts.

I agree about the theme song, thats something I hope they implement into the next movie even as an after credits thing.

I agree it was my favorite iteration of the story out of all the cartoons.
I dont pay attention to the dialogue in these movies, but Apocalypse had its cringeworthy parts that stood out to me in the climax of the movie when Best freed QS and saved Raven when he said "cover me" then hovered over Mystique and said "I got you" I cringed because it was so cheesy how he delivered that line. For the most part the dialogue is ok though, I just want the execution done better and for some characters not to look dead onscreen.

They were two different stories. Have to see how TAS did DPh, but its Phoenix Saga was a mess of characters and plots constantly popping into the screen...which probably fits Kinberg best. Plus, the dialogue was hokey; as hokey as Xavier's astral projection wanting to wipe out the X-Men because reasons.

Wolverine and the X-Men resolved its season long arc by connecting the Phoenix, thus explaining why Prof X and Jean have been gone so long, with DOFP. And...that's impressively grand.

Olivia Munn está em Montreal e marcou sua treinadora de luta que também está no Canadá! Será que teremos #Psylocke em #DarkPhoenix?

----

Huh. What, I wonder, would Psylocke's role even be, if she does indeed appear?

So far, feels like Apocalypse where new and returning actor announcements are spread out. As is, seems like the only players left that we know of that may or may not be back are Angel (if he's alive), Moira, Stryker, and Jubilee.

Ooooooooh damn. I hope that means Psylocke is back. Not sure what her role will be, but I'd love to see her again.
