X-Men Origins:Wolverine on DVD/BluRay

I'm confused, in the UK there is only a one disk edition. What special features are on there or have they put them all on the blu-ray? Play doesn't list any but their 'exclusive bonus disk' with a 30 minute behind the scenes thing

Honestly, re-watching I get more and more disappointed with the Gambit vs Logan fight.

The casino bit is bad ass where they are talking and Remy flings those cards at him.

But as soon as it gets outside it just becomes crap, for me. I mean, the bit where he is twirling his staff around then...crouches in front of Logan and gives him some cheesy grin. WTF is that all about? Why did he crouch down in front of him instead of trying to smash his face in? And the fire escape chopping bit is one of the most ludicrous scenes in cinematic history.

The alleyway fight feels a bit off for me too. I love the part where Gambit slams the staff into the alleyway, it's very reminiscent of my favorite Gambit ability from the X-Men Legends game.

But yea, once it's Remy vs. Logan 1v1, I feel it could have been done a lot better.

I agree with you about the casino scene tho. That little introduction to Gambit, I don't think I could have asked for better in my dreams.

The only thing about the alley fight that I hated was Gambit not doing anything to Creed, Gambit's ability to be on a roof two seconds later, and of course the ladder slash. Nothing else really bothered me during that scene.

Pretty much sure it will be the exact same thing.

Blu-ray all on one disc, dvd spread over 2 discs.

I would have to agree that the fire escape chopping scene is cringeworthy, even with repeated veiwings. Gambit would have either charged the thing, or jumped off. He never would have just stood there like, "Oh my, whatever shall I do?" :( All the rest of his scenes I really liked, especially when he was teasing Logan in the plane about the clouds. :)

The whole mvoie is becoming cringeworthy now that I rewatched it on dvd last night. I guess thats why the dvd took so long to come out, FOX dreaded the feared PAUSE button. :wow:

Seriously, the cgi almost ruined the entire movie.

Apart from Logans claws I didn't think the CGI was that bad. The part where Gambit smashed that falling bit of that tower looked pretty real to be fair. The way it crumbled.

DVD took a dramatic drop in sales this past week, in its first week it made just over $40 million, now, after its 2nd week, it is up to just over $50 million, so its gone from selling $40 million's worth in its 1st week to only selling $10 million in its 2nd, thats quite a drop-off.

All according to the-numbers.com

They made their money, that's all that counts. :)

According to blu-ray.com, the sales of the blu-ray have been really good.

It looks like DVD sales typically drop off by more than 70% in the second week so nothing unusual about this.

Cool, DVD sales still tend to be higher than BD one's at the moment though.

Watchmen didnt, that had quite a good drop, same with Underworld 3, Knowing and Push.

Watchmen dropped by 71.9%. It's one of the films I looked at to see what was typical.

^I have been watching the performance of Watchmen closely on DVD were did you get this info?

Blu-Ray drops to #3 this week, thanks to some new releases, but is continuing to do well:

http://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=3516

The monsters were too much for the wizard to handle, as Dreamworks animated feature 'Monsters vs. Aliens' took the top spot over last week's other high profile release, 'The Wizard of Oz: 70th Anniversary Edition' which came in second on the Nielsen VideoScan Blu-ray charts. And after two consecutive weeks in the top spot, 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine' drops to the third spot.

Here is the Blu-ray top 10 (previous-week ranking in parenthesis):

• Monsters vs. Aliens
• Wizard of Oz
(1) X-Men Origins: Wolverine
• Superman/Batman: Public Enemies
(7) The Dark Knight
(10) Earth
• The Kingdom
• Labyrinth
(9) Gladiator
• The Dark Crystal

It appears that 'Monsters vs. Aliens' suffered from poor advertising, with only 13% of all units being purchased on Blu-ray, while 35% of all 'Wizard of Oz' units sold were on the high definition format. 'Wolverine' continued to put up great numbers, generating 25% of the sales on Blu-ray.

The Gambit fight scene was corny and all but certainly more entertaining than final fight with Weapon XI... during the final fight i felt there was too much time where 'nothing' happens. Like waiting for d'pool to appear (back to back!), or waiting for him to shoot his laser beams and logan and vitctor standing there staring into space. Wheres the berserker rage? Is it because its an old friend? makes me appreciate wolverine hacking down a ladder. =|

Love or hate the film, I think we can all agree that the ladder chopping scene was beyond awful.

I disagree. The part where they go back to back and Weapon XI comes porting in from all angles was brilliant I thought. Where he is vaulting towards them, jumps up, does a triple somersault, then ports back behind them was sick.

well ok, i guess Wolverine and Sabretooth didnt know how to react because they have never seen a teleporting version of themselves before... but im just saying thats probably the weakest action scene in the whole movie. Dont get me wrong, i like the scene, but it wasnt a good enough for a "boss fight".

Also, the claws in the bathroom scene. Why were they CG and not practical, is it at all mentioned in the commentaries?
