X-Men - Part 3

Yeah, that series looks stupid. Like a wannabe-Exiles without the freedom to choose interesting characters.

I'm not really interested either. I'm not planning on picking up any more X related titles since BMB is taking over down the line.

Is Bendis officially confirmed yet? I'm still kinda hoping that he goes the Cosmic route.

I've heard he's taking over X-Men and taking them on a Cosmic Epic but that's just rumor from my local comic shop.

Until there's an official announcement from Marvel, I'm not believing that Bendis is coming to the X-Men.

same here. Maybe if people stop saying it, it wont come true

I'd be okay with it if Mark Bagley did the art on UXM. :o

Where's your avatar from? Looks like 90's TAS but the animation doesn't seem right unless it's from the last 10 episodes or so that were done by a different studio.

It is from TAS. In Japan it had different intro and ending which was done in an anime style

Much as I'd hate to see what he'd do with still more characters I have a fondness for, I'd be cool with that. It'd probably be good for the cosmic line in the long run.

Ive always hated X-men space adventures. I surprisingly didnt mind Brubaker's Shi'ar arc but overall I havent been a fan of the X-men mixxing it up in space so I hope thats false.

Not a big space fan, either. Hopefully that will take place in a book I don't read.

I like it when the X-Men go Cosmic, but I'm not a fan of Bendis' writing on most Marvel books.

Bendis doesn't bother me, beyond being a bit wordy at times. I'm just not into space things, Shi'ar or otherwise. :(

I'm not a fan of X-Men in Space either.

Give me some good old mutie vs mutie fight and I'm happy.

Agreed,
Dont understand why the writers always wanna do X-Men space epics when the themes they deal with are much more earthbound.
Humans being scared of mutants seems a little silly when there's a ton of aliens walking around, wouldn't the majority of somewhat xenophobic humans prefer an earth-born super-being protecting the planet to some cosmic entity like captain marvel??

while I understand the hate for space...one of their greatest X-men stories was a space story (Dark Phoenix Saga)

Yeahh but see, to me, even with Dark Phoenix Saga, the more interesting parts were the earthbound aspects, mainly the Hellfire Club and her basic interactions with her teammates. That's where the good drama was. Yes it was a cosmic entity, and yes she ended up dying on the moon after fighting aliens, but the drama was in her sacrifice, and in seeing the X-Men deal with power overtaking a loved one. All the generic X-Men in space stories though just seem very bleh. The only one I cared for was when they dealt with the phalanx in space right before the Trial of Gambit, but I think it was only the art and my Gambit fanboyism that made me like that story.

The X-men were in space for one issue of that arc. I really wouldnt call it a space story when the bulk of it was on earth

I really wouldnt say they always want to do that. Brubaker's Shi'ar arc was the only time it was done within any X ongoing in the last 10 years at least that I can remember and then Carey did clean up of that when he had those characters recovered in Legacy which needed to be done. Morrison touched upon the Shi'ar in New X-men but he kept the X-men earth bound and focused mainly used them to show what a threat Nova was. The X-men space stories have been kept to a minimum and thankfully its not as bad as it was in the 80s

I'm nervous about Bendis coming onto the X-Men because he doesn't always get the characterizations... but then, most of the X-Men have been written out of character for years anyway. Maybe his mischaracteristics manage to actually have them act IN character?!

I think people are worried about his vision. I loved New Avengers when he revamped the line but many classic fans saw it as a bastardized version of what the Avengers were and I can see those complaints as valid. I think people fear what he will do with the X-line as he seems to have the power and free reign to do whatever he wants at Marvel and they let him

From the AvX thread...

I can already see Bendis' X-Men roster...

Spider-Man
Wolverine
Longshot
Domino
Dani Moonstar
Cypher
Jewel, who discovers she was a mutant all along
Professor X, inexplicably back in his wheelchair and only half as powerful

And that's the A-team.

Bendis' X-Men Roster:

Wolverine
Spider-Man
Magneto
Luke Cage
Spider-Woman
and Ronin (Deadpool in disguise)

:oldrazz:

Bendis' X-Men Roster

Wolverine
Spider-Mutant
Storm (Depowered and sportin' the mohawk)
Beast (Ape again, but nobody explains why)
Selene the Black Queen (Beast's new fiance)
Thunderbird (Original)
Bishop (Cured of the Mutated Legacy Virus that made him evil)

:xmen: :xmen: :xmen:

Is that really the explanation for Bishop's actions since Messiah Complex? The Legacy Virus?
