That's being a bit literal... Ben's death was Peter's fault, but it doesn't seem to affect him much, Captain Stacy's death is his fault...once again, it doesn't seem to affect him much ("those are the best kind"). This is the irreverence I was speaking of. Obviously, he was depressed after Gwen's death, but there was no real lesson that he learned and the film certainly didn't explore this thematically in any capacity. Just: Gwen died, I'm sad and don't want to be Spider-Man. *Rhino appears*- "but I must". Becomes Spider-Man again. All within the span of 5 minutes...meaningless.
I feel like I've debated this with you before, but here goes again...
Each of the characters deaths were results of different types of irresponsibilities on Peter's part. Uncle Ben's death was a result of him not stopping a thief because of a vendetta that he had with the cashier. Lesson learned from Uncle Ben's death... Peter uses his great power and becomes Spider-Man.
The death of Captain Stacy was a result of Peter giving his formula to Dr. Conner's creating the Lizard. Lizard kills Captain Stacy. Lesson learned from Captain Stacy's death, don't be irresponsible about untested cross species science. He learned his lesson afterwards and it's shown in ASM2 when he is unwilling to give Harry his blood.
The death of Gwen Stacy was a result of him wanting to have a real life relationship while fighting crime as Spider Man. Will he learn his lesson? Probably, and it will be shown in the next movie.
Saying that Peter hasn't evolved or learned anything from his actions is ludicrous. Each death was a consequence of a different action and is more a display of Peter's usual "Parker Luck."
It's like I have a million dollars and I lose it from spending too much money on expensive desires like material things, lavish lifestyle, and gambling. Ok, now I have another million dollars, I learned that I should invest the money instead of spending it. I put it in the stock market without proper knowledge of the markets, and I lose the money day trading.
I lost a million dollars twice, but for different reasons. Same way Peter lost several loved ones for different actions. Doesn't mean that he didn't learn from each loss.
It's not the best written movie, but you are making it out to be the worst movie since Batman and Robin.
