No Way Home "You've Stuck Your Webs In My Business For The Last Time!" Alfred Molina Returns As Doctor Octopus

I think they'll be even Steven with the spotlight. Maybe Ock having more screen time as Ock comes from the most popular Spidey movie, and is also the fan favorite villain of all the Spidey movies, too.

I think this is the most likely outcome. They'll have roughly equal screentime, but maybe the Goblin does something so horrendous that it even takes Ock aback, establishing the Goblin as Spidey's deadliest enemy and the true central antagonist.

I wish they didn’t have to De-Age Molina. His face looked too smooth in the trailer. Ah well, still awesome to see him back

He still looks better than de-aged Downey in Civil War, though that's an admittedly low bar to clear.

It's getting more and more fun seeing this movie involves both characters.

Just off the top of your head, who do you think will get more screen time, Goblin or Ock? Or will it be roughly equal?

Even though Goblin appears to be the main villain, I'd say Doc Ock. or possibly equal.

Yep. Think Goblin will have the most screentime followed closely by Doc Ock.

I'm actually more interested to see what they do with Goblin not just because I love Dafoe's Goblin (my friends and I quote his lines all the time) but also his costume upgrade, and how he leads the sinister six presumably.

At the end of the day, while Ock is the most iconic of the returning movie villains, Goblin is still Spidey's archenemy, so it would make more sense for him to be the true main antagonist.

Is he?

I feel like in recent years Dafoe's Goblin has been memed to hell and back. Kind of like Palpatine in ROTS.

I think so. I mean, it helps that he's near universally considered the franchise's greatest villain. I doubt it's a coincidence that the trailer's money shot is of him.

Molina's been chomping at the bit to reprise this role since the mid 2000s and now he finally has. He must be as happy and excited as we are!
Very very glad he got the chance. (just as much for me as for him :D )

Is he number two though? I feel most fans like Vulture or Mysterio for the number two spot.
I mean more a direct nostalgia no.2 package to Doc. The intro of the Goblin voice and the pumpkin bomb elevated Doc’s appearance massively to me. It was a great setup that wouldn’t be possible with even a better villain. Ock was the coup de grace we all wanted after seeing that and it worked so well as a 1-2 punch.

I think the main reason the "money shot" is of Ock is because Molina has already spilled the beans that he's in the movie and Feige has acknowledged that Molina has done that. So there's no point hiding that anymore because then it would seem silly and insulting people's intelligence.

But with Goblin, Dafoe hasn't been officially confirmed, so that's probably why he wasn't shown instead of Ock and they're still attempting to hide him and insult people's intelligence in other ways.

Agreed. That was a beautiful stinger for a teaser ending.

so the Spider-Man 2 DVD had loads of special features, more than you'd see today! And I remember when I was watching the special features the day it came out, there was a bit in the Doc Ock portion of the documentary at 20:37 where they talk about the possibility of Ock not being dead. Hard to believe all these years later, I'd look back on that and go "it really happened".

i remember when these features where available on the initial dvd release now we have to wait for an ultra special edition for something like this

i don;t know why but when i hear Avi Arad speak it makes my skin crawl

It's rare to see 10 hours of special features for physical releases anymore and that just makes me said. Back when the DVD was up for pre-order, they marketed the amount too.

true that i used to go and go straight to the special features i loved when they added un used concepts like in the x-2 dvd and the portable rolling sentinels which i found to be a great concept but Rothman famously didn't want robots in fox films then transformers came out and bam

Variety confirmed Dafoe’s return when they did their write up about the NWH teaser. But you don’t see Dafoe’s face in the trailer, so…
