The Alfred Molina as Doctor Octopus appreciation thread

"James Bond" saying Spider-Man 2 had a horrendous script. The irony...

Casino Royale actually kicked major Arse. can't say much for the other ones though, I really wasn't a big fan.

But I thought Molina was amazing, but as Mr. Bond said, the script really screwed his character. Ock has never been a nice guy, he's always been a major D*ck. And seriously, if movie Spidey has to fight, and or see another father figure die he's going to have serious issues.

True-hell, I'm amazed he hasn't already had a breakdown-but I heard that Molina is in the 3rd film, so . . .
Anyway, I like the arms having personalities. It makes things even more interesting, psychologically.

Ba-dump-bump! The Fred Thread lives!

He didn't steal the show. He walked off with it. I was raised and suckled on Spider-Man cartoons and comics and consequently always had a healthy respect for the Doctor O, but I fell in love with him on that day.

Hey, I remember this thread! Molina still rocks as Doc Ock. Terrific performance by a great actor :otto:

Alfred Molina is the perfect Doc Ock. I loved everything about him in Spidey2 and the train scene was kick ass. :otto::up:

That look alone just ooozes Master Planner! Alfred Molina was the best choice, and knew what to bring to the character. LOVE HIM!:woot:

Molina as Ock was a perfect choice! He pulled off the look, the character, everything! Can't imagine anyone else playing the part.

Molina is one of the best things to have graced the movie. His performance has it all; all that has been said in previous posts. Alfred's Ock gave me more respect towards the Doctor Octopus of the comics. I absolutely love it.

Well the changes they made were essential to the film, they made it a better film, made his character more 3-Dimensional, and helped tell the story of Peter's journey. His relationship with Rosie was something that Peter could look up to. Additionally, it gave more layers and levels to Doc Ock and Alfred Molina's performance

Indeed, and as I have said, there were new and great things combined with the classic menacing Ock from the comics. The way that was put togeather into one was truly incredible.

When he was in villain mode, he was very faithful to the comic book version of Ock. My favourite part is when he pwns all the train passengers when they try to protect Spidey:

Is there reason to respond to such an old post? Probably not, but I digress...

CR was a damn find Bond movie (though I think there are a handful of better ones out there). But the other poster had a point. A Bond callilng SM2's screenplay horrendous does leave a weak flank. I am a Bond fan myself but will be the first to say the screenplays, like the movies themselves, were awful for the following:

-You Only Live Twice
-Diamonds Are Forever
-The Man with the Golden Gun
-Moonraker
-Octopussy
-A View to a Kill
-License to Kill
-Tomorrow Never Dies
-Die Another Day

Bond has a pretty spotty record in the screenwriting department and those movies make SM2 look like Oscar material. Crap they make SM3 look like a great movie.

Hell, even my guy friends who regularly mock my ottophilia say that's their favorite Spider-Man 2 scene. :word:

I would have to say that his performance as Doc Ock was simply spectacular. It's sounds like Ledger's Joker may end up being the best villain ever in a comic book film, but as of right now,Molina is tops for me.:woot: He stole the film and he had the personality to carry it as well. Ock wasn't just some "evil" villain. Alfred made that character come to life.

He was perfect as Doctor Octopus. After looking at the first picture of him:

I knew he was the right choice.

^^ One of my favorite Doc Ock pictures of Spider-Man 2. It screams comic-book Ock.
