''He'' did not have Bruce hook up with Barbara on his own. His team of writers/producers, spearheaded by Alan Burnett (a man he, and his boss at the time, Jean MacCurdy greatly respects and admires) had the initial idea of Bruce hooking up with Barbara.
- Michael Reeves came up with the dream sequence idea in ''Batgirl Returns'' that Burnett pushed (1994 - BTAS).
- Alan Burnett suggested the actual failed romance angle in Batman Beyond (1999)
- Both Alan Burnett (Producer) and Michael Reeves (writer) made it more overt in Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman (2003). A movie Bruce Timm had no involvement in.
- The pregnancy storyline from the Batman Beyond comic had nothing to do with anyone from the DCAU.
- Once again, Alan Burnett and Brian Azzarello had the idea of using it as a plot device for the newly created epilogue in Batman: The Killing Joke. Something Timm apparently had to be convinced about.
Should Timm have put his foot down and refused? Yeah, probably, but to blame him for all of this is just silly. Heck, Burnett and Dini have been making some real head-scratching choices in their Batman: The Adventures Continues comic run as well. Timm seems like a real horndog, but for fans to dismiss 25-30 years of great work over one little idea is crazy to me.
