LMAO I knew you were going to point this out.

Love ya kid.

The usual suspects are Very Mad about this show, because it dared to show two girls kissing; and that's yucky.

You’re free to that opinion, but I’ve been following Bruce Timm since BTAS - his stuff is ONLY good when he hires great writers because he himself does not have a great handle on the basics of character and story and never has, and him being the poster child for this, as he has been for all things he does, doesn’t change that. What you’re describing - the guy who hired everyone to make “his vision” - is the role of an executive producer, which just so happens to be what he’s credited for here. I never said he deserves no credit, but to me the highlight of this show is the actual writing, and that’s what I rightfully credit to other people. The thing I’ll credit him for is having a solid eye for talent.

Him being a rather crappy person on top of that is irrelevant.

Oh please, you had nothing against Bruce Timm until it become popular to bash him post Killing Joke. Let's look at some old posts from you shall we?

Wow, this is just embarrassing. You have completely hopped on the Bruce Timm hate bandwagon. Touch some grass.

You mean I learned more about the guy in 12 years? Imagine that. We all thought Bruce Timm was animation God at some point. Some of us grew out of it as we got disillusioned as time went on and we saw more. It happens. But given the hostility of your post, that’s irrelevant, because it was in no way intended in good faith. So see ya in a while.

Treating Bruce Timm as persona non grata for making two fictional characters screw and making a raunchy animated movie has been probably one of the most ridiculous things to happen in the DC fandom lol For the record I didn't think that the TKJ animated movie worked and I found it kinda disappointing and I never even watched Batman & Harley Quinn as it seemed annoying, but there is a reason that Kevin Conroy specifically credited him whenever he got asked why the DCAU was what it was. Of course he wasn't solely responsible for everything (and I doubt he ever claimed he was) but he was a key part beyond just "he did character designs", he had his hands pretty much on everything then and he still does now on CC (perhaps even moreso now).

Dude, find a new song. Some of us don’t like the guy, and that’s perfectly valid. You’re not changing any minds here.

It's specifically not wanting to credit him that bothers me. I think that's an insanely disrespectful thing to do to any creative, especially for one that really never did anything wrong like Timm who at worst made two bad animated movies.

I disagree. Which is my right. And if you can’t let it go, you’re outta here, because I’m not about to let your refusal to let it go stretch this thread on for multiple pages like it always does.

Wait, besides The Killing Joke Batman/Batgirl ship, what’s wrong with Bruce Timm?

I don’t follow him that closely so I am completely out of the loop

Best to move on from this topic, but if you’re really curious, look into Alan Burnett’s disagreement with what he did to Terry McGuinness on Batman Beyond/JLU (Beyond was Burnett’s baby through and through), and what THR suggested Timm tried to do to Paul Dini (basically pull a Bob Kane) a while back, which explains why they no longer work together.

You know... I've always been curious about the whole Harley Quinn creator debate. Every time I have seen Timm talk about the character, he always mentions Dini's idea to give Joker a ''hench girl''. Both Dini and Timm's stories sync up and they always seem to get 50% credit. What's the issue?

One thing that does irk me at the moment is everyone saying this show would be way better with Paul Dini writing it. Oh really?... because fans just spent the last three years bemoaning how Dini had lost his magic with the Batman: The Adventures Continue comic series. That his writing (with Alan Burnett) feels forced and never fully capturing the flavor of B:TAS.

Wishlist characters for season two?

I need The Monk, Mr Freeze and Hugo Strange.

Even if he was there in the "Strange Days" short, I'd also like to see that mad scientist version of Hugo Strange appearing.
Maybe as a character who slowly schemes in the background for a few episodes before taking center stage, kind of like Harley Quinn in this first season.

Otherwise, in this gangster oriented universe, the Ventriloquist would certainly fit right in.
I'd like to see the Scarecrow again because I still think it would be a fantastic occasion to go CRAZY with the visuals and even tap into surrealism. I'm also thinking that a Mister Freeze in a retro/steampunkish look might be something very cool to look at.
Given the show's commitment to fantastical, I'd welcome Man-Bat and I'd be thrilled to see a new team-up between Batman and Etrigan (I know Timm loves this character).

But really, there's no character I'm desperate to see.
As long as it fits and there's something creative, it's good for me. I like to be surprised!

I'm a damn broken record at this point but just look how much more dynamic that kind of animation was... Argh!

Ok, so episode 7 : "Moving Target"

I don't know... Yeah, it's cool to see Batman doing some, um, "classic interrogations" and there's nothing really wrong with the story...
But I just don't find things exciting. I know "noir" stories are based on tropes, but I'm not finding any twists.
Onomatopea could have been that twist but there's not even an attempt to create something around his shtick. He's just... there.

And there's still some curiosities in the direction...
I don't have a lust for blood, but in terms of storytelling using the visual medium, when you emphasize that a character is seriously hurt "and losing too much blood", you have to show something more than him grimacing vaguely and cowering slightly...
Also, that cop car falling down the cliff was very rough, looking straight out a Family Guy episode.

The fight scene were pretty well made though.

It's a bit heartbreaking for a BTAS fan like me to recognize something like this, and I hate to say it, but I think the series is starting to slightly bore me... :meh:
I know we shouldn't compare everything to the original, but when I see what could be done in 20 min back then, I'm a bit puzzled by the superficiality I’m getting here from episodes with some extra minutes.

Again, there's nothing fundamentally wrong, but it lacks a spark for me.

Do you guys think we've seen the last of Harvey Dent? If so, I'm completely fine with it, i liked the direction they went with his character and how it climaxed.

When Amazon rescued the series, they also elongated its lifespan, ordering two seasons, for a total of 20 episodes (so far). “We’re still working on the scripts and starting to record,” Timm said about season 2. “We’ve got a long way to go

I found the Harvey Dent arc of the season to be underwhelming and half-baked. While this new take on Harley Quinn was interesting, this was definitely a lesser interpretation compared to other versions of Two-Face, including BTAS. Pretty much just a "greatest hits" of different Two-Face origins, but with his scars on the wrong side. Also didn't feel that Diedrich Bader was all that great as Dent. I'd have much preferred to have another villain be given the same focus rather than Dent in Caped Crusader.
