I don't think Marko's addition ruins the origin, it simply adds a new dimension to it. The end result is still the fact that if Peter had acted earlier, Uncle Ben would still be alive--and that's all that matters.

My change: keep the deleted scenes in the movie.

Leave Eddie for 'cameo' reasons, but No Symbiote/Venom story thread. Or, if nothing else, have the Symbiote arrive at the end to spark off the next installment.

In terms of the filmmaking process:

Keep the screenplay AWAY from the brothers Raimi.

I agree with you. "Sandman is not Uncle Ben's killer"! This was my second choice in what I would change about this film.

Well, in the event that Sam had the foresight to throw in a Marko cameo in Spider-Man alongside with Caradine, this Ben's killer business wouldn't both me as much. Hear me out: I'm not against Sandman being the killer, but the more I watch Spider-Man 3, the stranger the retcon feels.

So I would just make Sandman a General Grievous type villain. A nuisance who abuses his superpower and attacks Spider-Man because Harry promised him a cure, or something. I'm not too sure about the whole Harry business. Really.

Actually you're right. Once that dropped, it felt really misplaced. No explaination was givin either to what it was. It was just a random Rock that fell with black glue coming out. It really didnt make no sense and was unnecessary.

I like the idea. Hmm, maybe a rough structure:

SP4: Symbiote's discovery, intro of Eddie Brock, a bit of background on symbiote, villain is Scorpion.

SP5: Lizard is villain. Spider-Man comes into contact with symbiote when Peter went to see Doc Connors after class for some reason or another. More story for Eddie (Infinity Diem and I did a good brainstorm on this stuff).

SP6: Peter's relationship with MJ is tested by her fear of Peter and Peter's foe Venom. Venom is the only villian to die an unsympathetic death.

Very rough, needs work, obviously.

No symbiote equals a movie 100 times better. That means no black spidey, no dark peter, no dance scenes, and no venom. They would've had more time to developed Sandman and given the film that introspective and more concentrated look at the characters that made 2 such a success, and give all the characters (especially the tons of new ones) more breathing room.
