Jeez Beasties, I completely left out my criticism of Miles. I think his teams can be sloppy and he doesn't preach discipline. LSU has flown by their collective ass too much this season. They should be more impressive.

LSU has too much talent to fall too low. That said, Miles is a pretty good coach, and knows how to pull the major upsets in rivalry games, as seen by Oklahoma State.

Personally I think Miles is a pretty poor coach - his saving grace is that he has the second most talented program in the country (only USC can compete in pure-talent, though this year the Trojans may not even be able to stand up against).

Though this fact is hardly arguable, what has Miles done to prove himself? I believe (please correct me if I am wrong) his only SEC Championship appearance ended with a fairly thorough thumping by Georgia. While his one BCS appearance was a convincing win - it was against a team whose starters - outside of a few choice players, would fight hard for a position on the second string.

When Miles goes against well coached, talented teams - he often looks out of place, and prone to irrational moves.

Which is why I want Carr to stay for one more year, and see how Harbaugh does. If he does well, we gotta pick him up.

personally i can't stand carr for another year...ive stuck up for him the past 2 or 3 years but hes dissapointed me everytime, this year being the worst dissapointment with the team we had coming back. the problem is michigan has to get a proven coach because if they dont the fans will be ticked and an unproven and unexperienced coach would crumble under the pressure. In my opinion lets try to get cowher :)

SC still gots a chance at the Rose Bowl

damn if only we beat Oregon:csad:

Cowher won't go to college ball, if anything he's gonna come back to the NFL.

Georgia could be the best team in College Football next year and still lose two games - their schedule is sick.

Georgia Southern (an out of division opponent that is always difficult and had years of school connections)
Central Michigan
@ South Carolina
@ Arizona State
Alabama
OPEN
Tennessee
Vandy
@ LSU
Florida
@ Auburn
@ Kentucky
OPEN
Georgia Tech

That being said: we return everyone on our offense but one WR and two offensive linemen (our OL will be more experienced as a whole than it was this year however) and our defense returns 9/11 with all backup's receiving large amounts of playing time this year already.

Good schedule. Hardest road games will probably be Auburn and LSU. Hopefully having UT between the hedges will insure vengence from that blowout loss this season.

"LES MILES BRAIN X-RAYED.
Some nights, a magical Viking spirit approaches your liver and says, “Tonight, you’re riding with Hrothgar, mortal.” And Hrothgar the Immortal and Reckless Viking Spirit of Glorious Intoxication rides with you, burninating all that the opponents of the bartending world toss at you: beer, exotic, flaming shots, cocktails, things served in human skulls with umbrellas, whatever. It all falls like so many lesser soldiers to the mighty club of your indomitable liver.
So impressive is your drinking that policemen offer you their cars to drive drunk home with the lights on and siren blaring, handing you loaded weapons out of respect and reverence. Women fall into your arms; gambling wins flutter effortlessly into your pocket. You may, in fact, scream domino and drive the winning tile through the card table as if you were in a video. And just like in the video, you will not be shot by bystanders, but instead nodded at in fear and awe by bystanders, friends and foes alike.
That, friends, is what Les Miles is experiencing right now as head coach of LSU. He has balls for brains, and in 2007, that’s been nearly enough. He rides with Hrothgar right now, which means get out of the way, or taste the blade, peasant."--EDSBS.com http://www.everydayshouldbesaturday.com/2007/10/22/les-miles-brain-x-rayed/

"Which team’s chances? LSU? Oh, that’s me! Ha!
Les Miles actual dialogue, as best remembered from one viewing, during his post-game interview with Holly Rowe following LSU’s eschewing of a field goal and all reason in their 30-24 victory over Auburn Saturday.
Holly: Tell us about that last call, Coach.
Les: (Pauses, looks blankly at her.) Which call?
Holly: (Dumbfounded.) The touchdown call to win the game. Tell us a little about that.
Les: Oh, that call. Sure. It’s because, where other men have brains, I just have more balls. Just a skull full of testes–that’s what you’ll see if you take an MRI of my head, actually. It’s like looking at an x-ray of a beanbag in profile when you look at my head. I jostle when I walk. Why? It’s the balls jangling and boinging around in my head. Don’t ask me if it’s awesome. There’s no brains up there, only balls. And balls always have the same answer to that question: it’s awesome having a brain full of balls like Les Miles does. It sounds awesome when I say that, actually. Balls. BALLS BALLS BALLS BALLS BALLS. That’s it in short, Balls.
Holly: It’s Holly.
Miles: Balls, balls. Balls.

If one needs any further confirmation that Les Miles has no idea what he’s talking about, take this as the last and best pieces of evidence.
First, Miles claims that they still had a time out, not realizing the clock had run down to one second, and that with one more hitch or qb scramble, the clock would have run dry and bled out any chances LSU would have had of winning, unburned timeout or not. Miles would have been introduced as a plaything for Mike VI as punishment, and we’d be writing this great piece we would have wept during the composition of about how Auburn was the greatest, most balanced team in the anarchic SEC West.
Second, they claim Byrd hadn’t been covered all night, and that they knew they could hit it. D.J. Hall went uncovered on Saturday, catching 13 balls against Tennessee for Alabama. This is someone uncovered all night who you could throw to with mathematical certainty. Byrd had two solid receptions, but it wasn’t an Easy Button transaction for the td. It constituted an immense gamble, one done when a simple field goal could have won the game.
Third, we let the crowd speak. Mike Patrick, while denying the killing urges of the “voices in his head” (he described Tiger Stadium as so loud he couldn’t hear the voices in his head, giving us a flash of the daily madness swirling in his mind) invoked the seismograph game, but got no thunder. While the crowd was loud, at least 30,000 fans seemed too stunned to believe what they’d seen and sat in meek, catatonic silence, cutting down on measurable vibrations at the lab. And not that fun, recreational taser-use stunned, either: a genuine, flabbergasted horrified kind of stunned set in, with most Tiger fans relieved not only to win, but to survive Mr. Toad’s absurdly hazardous driving."--EDSBS.com

Yeah, I do know. He wont coach college ball. Thats it.

For the sake of Huskerwebhead and I...my choices for Nebraska's new coach, based on who I heard is avaliable and whatnot

Bo Pelini- rumblings on Rivals seem pretty sure it'll be him
Joe Glenn- Great coach, grew up in Lincoln, went to UNL, has won a national championship on every level of college FB except D-1
Kevin Steele- great recuriter and respects REAL traditon
Turner Gill- Probably still too inexperienced as a HC
Terry Bowden- um...no.

And that;s about all I've heard. Any of them (yes even Bowden) would be better than Callahan.

So Supes....Is Callahan gone after the CU game? Who you like for the next HC?

Oops...see my above post, but as for Cal...TO will kick him out faster than you can blink.

Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if after the CO game, they find Callahan floating face-down in the Platte River with three bullet holes in the back of his head, Mafia style...just a thought.

Those "In-The-Know" on Rivals Red Sea Scrolls pretty much says Pelini as well. I like this one. He's not really a proven HC but he can fire up the kids and he is a great DC...and that's what we need.

Turner Gill - I like Turner, but I don't think he's quite ready for HC. Honestly, I'll say he's only even in consideration because of his ties to NU and Tom.

Jim Grobe has been thrown out there as well as Paul Johnson. I actually like Paul Johnson and he would be my second choice behind Bo....but we'll just have to see.

I just read an article that Tom is going to have a meeting with the coaches on the 24th and that he has "not made any decisions about the coaches yet." Depends on who you talk to though. Again, those "in the know" say it's pretty much a done deal with Bo. But take that with a grain of salt of course. Only TO knows for sure. :)

As far out as it seems there is a very VERY small chance TO will retain Cally but force him to get rid of most of the current staff...most especially Cosgrove. I don't see this happening though....but it's been a wacky football season so who knows.

I forgot about Johnson!! he'd be great too! We jsut need someone who can respect the traditions of the team. That and A&M has proven the option can work, maybe I'm just sentimental, but I'd love to see just a llittle option used in the future.

Agreed. The tradition around the program has been all but forgotten under Pedey and Cally. TO has already started to get things back to normal and I'd expect that whomever he chooses understands the importance of that and will maintain that.

As far as the Option, yeah, it can work...but I'm not married to it. I don't necessarily need them to come back and take us back to the 'Old Days'...I'd like to see a more balanced offense come in and get us back to being a physical team. Even if we lose, as long as we put up a fight and the other team comes out bruised I'll be a happier man.

Sooo.... Nobody's talking about how 'Zona's beating Oregon? This could be a big deal, folks.
