No Div 1 college that plans on competing for a national championship, in this day and age, relies on a walkon program....midmajors and smaller schools can get away with that....

By no means is he suggesting we "rely on it" as our primary source for recruits. The walkon program at NU was severely reduced under Callahan and Pederson. One of the things we have missed over the last few years are the kids that have a fire...a passion for Nebraska Football. Kids who want to sacrifice everything to play for Nebraska. The walkon program was always full of kids like this. Kids who have dreamed of playing for Nebraska since they were little. We've all but turned our back on most of them under Callahan. Some of our greats have come on as walkons. But, the coaches should have also instilled in their players what it means to play at Nebraska, and that wasn't done. They just plain couldn't motivate the players at all. Add to the systematic removal of over 30+ years of tradition and you have a complete lack of passion, sacrifice, and pride.

I see your point halfway......but just because someone has the fire to play for Nebraska doesnt necessarily make them qualified to play. A coach or scout should always be looking for the best player(s) possible, someone who wants to play football and is going to best help your team. if that person happens to have a dream to play for Nebraska than fantastic.....

You're reading a little too much into what I'm saying. I'm not saying that we are just going to let anyone play as long as they "bleed red." Of course there has to be more to that recruit. They have to have talent and earn a spot on the team. But those kids that were walkons, that did make it on the team, was very often the heart and passion of past teams. That's all I'm saying...it's what we have missed recently, and need to get back.

Anyone else see the hit on Stanford QB Pritchard in the Notre Dame game? Nearly got his head taken off. Thats said a lot on big hits, but this one looked that bad. Thankfully he is seemingly ok.

I'll have to keep an eye out for that on SportsCenter.

Was it worse than the hit Colt Brennan took in the Fresno State game? I thought Brennan was dead there.

I didn't see that, but he was trying to get up immediately after the hit, so there was no threat of him being dead. It was a helmet to helmet hit, he was diving and a Notre Dame player was going in for the hit, the way his head was just shot back ...it was just looked real bad. Helmet went flying off. Might have gotten a concussion. But the worst part was that Harbaugh put him back in later in the game and he still looked woozy and got sacked before he was finally pulled again. Thats just downright ignorant.

That was a pretty good game. Much more so than I expected. Chase Daniels had quite the game.

I think Oklahoma beats them again, but I hope not. West Virginia playing for title is bad enough. No need to exacerbate the issue by matching them up with Ohio State.

Missouri knocks off Kansas 36-28 :wow:

Yes, yes, yes!!! It is a glorious day for ole Mizzou!!! :woot:

I was supposed to be at the game, but came down with some flu virus. :down

It was good game, and KU had me hella worried towards the end. Great season for KU.

Now hopefully we get the #1 in BSC, we should.

Bring on OU in San Antonio, the outcome will be different this time. :cmad:

Congratulations to the Missouri Tigers.

But WVU is gonna be the new number one.

Isn't West Virginia's only loss at South Florida? If it wasn't for their turnover parade in that one, they'd be undefeated.

Man should never have to live without YouTube. This is Brennan getting destroyed.

Yes I believe so, kinda the same story for Mizzou, late turnovers killed them. They were leading in the 4th quarter at Norman.

Thats a hard, but clean, hit, but I think the Pritchard hit looked worse. If he wouldn't had started to move right after he got hit, I would have thought he got his neck broken for sure. I watched it in slow motion a few times and it just hurts to see it. His head is going in one direction and his body in another. Sideways.

Who wants to be my shoulder to weep upon?*

*NOT Badger!

Well look on the bright side, if we beat OU next week you all will still get a BCS bowl.

But that would also put Mizzou in the nat'l title game....

Oh, **** it all, I want my Hawks to be in a BCS Bowl. :(

Just, you know, make sure y'all lose to West Virginia when you make the championship.

now if mizzou and WVU lose one more time... we got a shot at the BCS...LOL:oldrazz:

Amen, and maybe by doing that, (or recruiting a bit more in state) the Big Red could have the NCAA's all time leading rusher instead of a damn D-III school like Chadron State (way to eff that up Callahan!!!:cmad:)
