Recent history, we were 11-0 in 1960. Though some Kansas fans who are up on their history will dispute that. Though it has been a year to remember and next year has the possibility of being better.

use the BCS bowl games as playoff........just move the scheduling around, and the NCAA can keep all their other bowls. and LSU gets what is basically a home game in New Orleans against OSU

Every other level of college football has a playoff; Div. 1-AA, Div. 2, Div. 3., NAIA. Div 1-A is the only place this nonsense happens every year at the conclusion of the regular season. They don't need to look to other sports for an example on how to do it. There's been a playoff system utilized in college football for decades. They're simply too stubborn to adapt it to D 1.

But the thing is, they don't even need to sacrifice the Bowl games. 1 of 2 things could happen.

1) The playoffs serve as Bowl games, like each specific game is a bowl game depending on the seeds of the two teams and with each game you rise. For example, the first round would be the dot com Bowl or one of the lower levels, then the mid levels and finally the national championship changes every year between the Orange Bowl or the Rose Bowl, etc and the major Bowls that aren't used serve as the semi-finals.

2) Based on when and by whom you are eliminated in the play-offs you get placed in a different bowl game so you would have both play-offs and Bowl games.

But alas, NCAA is too stubborn and too deep in the sponsors pockets, so it won't happen. That is why I'm not really into College football.

Again though, the Bowl sponsors would blow their lid. However, if you set up the bowls as a play-off system or allowed the play-off losers to get placed in Bowl games depending on where in the play-offs they lose it would be fine.

I think incorporating 8 teams in the current 'top tier' bowl system could be done without too much fuss and still have huge paydays for the bowls/schools involved. It just comes down to the powers that be wanting to do it. :ironman:
