F'n tv channels here are not even showing the Oscars and it's not on the net live:cmad:

I think There Will Be Blood could win Best Picture, but there should be no doubt that Daniel Day Lewis should win Best Actor. He embodied that character through and through. You could see the hate in his eyes. I didn't buy into all the hype about his performance before I saw it, but afterwards, I have to agree with all of it really. The best performance of at least the past few years.

Bardem, Lewis and Viggo look sexy as hell. *swoons*

I just got home. Damn, Jennifer Garner is smexy.

And I see John Stewart had no trouble getting the crowd hyped up.

I sat for like the first 15 mins... Glad Jen was the first presenter. yay

The Oscars is all political. All you usually have to do to figure out the winners is figure out what statement they are trying to make this year.

Well, there goes Sweeney's only chance of winning anything. . .

I saw No Country for Old Men, and I liked it, but I don't think it will win. The Oscars is too political, they try to uplift the flavor of the month and show that they support a wide array of films. No Country for Old Men strikes me as the conventional pick. It's dark, gritty with an unsatisfactory ending. While those things all helped the movie, the Oscars is all about politics, not quality. Why did LOTR:RotK win, because the other two had been snubbed the last two times up. I think most people who saw Mystic River that year would concede that was the better film. Then what happens next year, Clint Eastwood's Million Dollar Baby wins, despite the fact that I found the movie to not be Eastwood's best showing. The Departed wins to make up for snubbing Goodfellas. Now we have Juno. Juno is a quirky comedy, and for the past few oscars there has been this push to see a comedy win best picture. You saw Will Ferrel get up and do his comedy routine act at the Oscars asking why comedians get snubbed. You saw Little Miss Sunshine lose in favor of The Departed despite being the great hope for comedies. Now we have Juno. So I think they'll give it to Juno to show how hip and now they are.

agreed. did the oscars promote the Iphone? yeesh.

What?! Elizabeth? that trite?

Well Jen looked nice and so does Anne Hathaway.

Oh well.

Yea God forbid they actually give it to the best film.
