2008 Academy Awards

Wow that is ******ed, the SFX in Compass looked fake.

Dude that was messed up. :trans: :csad:

Not liking what Cate is wearing, for the first time ever.

That's like those Christmas Coca-Cola commercials winning. Got damn.

After the stupidity of the last award at least this one makes sense.

Golden Compass did not deserve it in the least. Pirates and Transformers were ground breaking (Pirates, mostly Davy Jones, Transformers...everything). Golden Compass was standard fair.

Also, did anyone else think Stewart's monologue was horrible? Tried too hard to be political. He's not doing nearly as good as he did last time he hosted.

So far, the VFX is the biggest snub of the night. How did ILM not win an award?

This entire music cut off is terribly rude. They did it to Brad Bird as well and its only after like, 30 seconds.

The Departed, despite being a great film, is another example. They didn't give him the award for Goodfellas, which in all rights should have won.

My other favorite is Million Dollar Baby. You know, I really didn't think much of that film, and thought the world of Mystic River. Mystic River loses to LOTR, and next year Clint Eastwood trots out this death wish movie that really felt kind of disjointed and was poorly paced and all of the sudden it beats out a host of better films.

They gave him Departed, because he already should have won for Taxi Driver (lost to Rocky and I forget who for director), his best, Raging Bull (he lost to Ordinary People there), Goodfellas (he lost to Costner for the great, but not deserving Dances with Wolves) AND The Aviator, which lost to Eastwood's make up Oscar, the mediocre Million Dollar Baby.

Albeit, The Departed deserved the win over Babel and Little Miss Sunshine. Mind you Eastwood released his next great movie last year, the ignored Letters from Iwo Jima.

Yea thats true, everyone knew that Scorsese's time had come and the academy just needed to give him ther Oscar. Mystic River is one of my favorite films and I remember when it lost to LOTR, I couldnt believe it. Then when Million Dollar Baby came out I didnt think it had a chance, who knew :o .

They are really cutting it short this year. Give them at least one minute to say what they need to say.

The polar bear was well done, but TF was seamless fx work. There were many instances that you would assume CG was practical in that flick.
