2008 Academy Awards

Mark Wahlberg was good in that movie but hardly in it.

Makes me wonder how Grandma got nominated for Mama Gangsta considering the one scene that they showed was pretty much her only scene...

Jimmy Kimmel should host next year, only to bump Matt Damon out of the Oscar telecast, forcing Damon to f**** Jimmy's girlfriend, Sarah Silverman in a second version of "I'm f'ing Matt Damon."

lol I always thought that was rediculous.

You know what would have been cool? If Norbit had actually won best make-up. :o

Sadly, no singing montage from Jack Black and Will Ferrell this year.

Yeah, but this is bad enough:

"Norbit is an Academy Award-nominated comedic film"

Poor Norbit. I thought they did a good job in that department. Actually asian Eddie murphy was terrible though.

I loved Enchanted, but I'm so glad the song from Once won. That was such a great little movie.

I thought the oscars were pretty good, but my friend called most of the winners, he didn't get the bourne films though.

i didn't get the bourne trophies either!

Judi Dench won Best Supporting Actress for Shakespeare in Love and she was only in the film for about 10 minutes (she was great in it, though).

Glad to see Coen Brothers win awards and Bourne as well.:yay:

Though i haven't seen all the nominated films there weren't many shocks except Marion Cotillard winning ahead of Julie Christie and Tilda Swinton beating Cate Blanchett who was nominated twice but still ended up empty handed.

Transformers losing out on the sound and especially visual effects awards is....an absolute travesty in my opnion.:cmad: Someone needs to explain to me how the heck The Golden Compass beat out Pirates 3 and Transformers. I liked the movie but i thought it was very lucky to even get a nomination for that category.

I was very happy that Bourne and Once won their Oscars. And that they gave Marketa Irglova her speech afterall.

I think everyone who deserved to win won. Surprised it was europeans who won the big four acting awards.

I think the awards were overall fair, especially the Coen´s win, but Spidey 3 not getting even a nomination for visual FX and Golden Compass winning was a travesty... And I love that Ratatouille won, but Surf´s Up got a nomination for best animated film and not The Simpsons Movie? Philistines.

WHatever... who gets worked up about the technical awards.... but I read that the dude for sound mixing on Tranformers was nominated 20 times.... 0 wins... that is remarkable... you'd think Hollywood would run out of guys in that department eventually... guess not...

It'd be hilarious if the Academy was just playing a 20 year long prank on him, and the one year he doesn't show up they award him an Oscar just for the **** of it.

You know I'm glad the Coen Brothers won but... You know I just watched Scorcese's Mean Streets again and damn it's not perfect but its got so much passion compare to something like the Departed. This is how I feel about No Country for Old Men(which is better than the departed) good movie but it lacked the passion that Fargo had which seem so fresh.

People always miss the point with this.

Its easy to compare previous pieces of work from the directors that was much better, but the point is the Academy is awarding the best film of that year. Sure it may pail to there previous work that got slighted (sometimes maybe because there truly was something better) but they managed to put the best thing out in the year they won it. It just one of those things....

I mean whatcha gonna do you know?
