He deserved it leading that squad of vets to the 1 seed two years in a row.

For some reason, I feel like if Derrick Rose wouldn't have gotten hurt, Thibs would have won it. Sure, they could have these awards decided weeks in advance, but it seems to me Tom did more, with way less.

I agree. I'm much more impressed with the job that Thibs did than Pop, because aside from Rose they don't really have any other scorer on their team. Bulls' front office really have to find another superstar to play alongside Rose because they can't depend on him not to get injured again in the future.

A friend of mine actually predicted Rose getting seriously hurt before the season even started, not so much because of the lockout but his style of play. Everything just seems so hard. He really does remind me of Allen Iverson. They both have the same type of teams too, unfortunately. I just don't see who they can possibly get to help, unless Amare has finally got himself out of NY...

Why would you even want Amare? I don't think even Thibs can get him to play defense.

Well personally I was just making an observation, as I'm not a Bulls fan, and I'm also on the record that Amare is highly overrated. He's no more of a "superstar" than Chris Bosh is, they're just All-star caliber players, which is a difference.

That being said, Chicago would be the perfect place for Amare for that exact same reason, he wouldn't have to play defense, at least it wouldn't be such an emphasis on him to do it, because Boozer doesn't play D either. The rest of the team does though, but they need another scorer, and Boozer's been less than consistent for two years now. D-Rose running the pick and roll with Amare could do the trick. Otherwise, I don't see who else they could possibly get to help Derrick from killing himself before he's 28.

Knicks center Tyson Chandler to be named NBA Defensive Player of the Year tomorrow at team practice facility, source tells

Congrats Tyson!!

Well deserved. He took the Knicks from the bottom of the league in defense towards the top.

I don't know why people are so quick to put "old" players in a premature box. From the looks of things tonight, Paul Pierce is still The Truth!

Tough watching the Bulls without Rose tonight. He's really been missed in the 2nd half. They can't buy a basket and there's no go to scorer to get them an easy bucket.

I'm not worried about the Bulls in this series. They should be able to get past the Sixers. It's probably going to go 6.

Real good win for Boston tonight. Atlanta put it to them early on but Pierce wouldn't be denied. Also, I don't know who that play by play guy was on NBA TV but he sucked. He was clearly annoyed by Pierce "Tebowing". Get over it you *****e. I like Greg Anthony though. He did a great job in the studio during the NCAA tournament and he's pretty solid as a color commentator.

Sixers got a shot at winning this series now that Rose is out. Yes I know I said I thought they was not going to win the series, but I changed my mind I think we can beat Chicago in 7 games.

I think Rose has better supporting players then what Iverson had here in Philly.

I agree with both of your posts DT.

Rose going down changes everything. I still think the Bulls will win the series, but it's going to be a real struggle now.

This Bulls team is still better than what Iverson had on his team. The comparison is pretty accurate, though.

Well yeah both Rose and Iverson are in your face point guards who take it to the hole strong and do not care if get hit real hard. But this Bulls team is better then that 76ers team, I mean you take Iverson off that 76ers team and they are a 20 win team at best, take Rose off this Bulls team and they atleast a 42-40 team.

And it will be a struggle, especially since the next 2 games will be in Philly and you know how Philly fans are during the playoffs. And the 76ers have played good at home this season so I expect the 76ers to be up 3-1 going back to Chicago for game 5.

Another solid effort from the Lakers tonight, although they got a little too cute in the 2nd half. This should've been another blowout, but I'll take it.

Nuggets is actually a dangerous team, so while I don't like the winning margin, I'll take any victory because a win is a win.

How so?

Ummm I wonder who Vinny will go with to replace butler. I know Nickyoung is the obvious choice with his instant offense but Bobby Simmons is a much better defender against gay

A bunch of defensive minded role players without another offensive option able to create his own shot consistently. Who on that '01 Sixers team was a real threat to score on a night in, night out basis. Likewise, who on the Bulls has that ability?

Part of the reason Iverson fell off a cliff is because his game was predicated on speed, and getting to the basket. Once injuries, and age, caught up to him, he never developed the other skills to still impact the game in the same way he once did. And because of the lack of another scorer, I think it accelerated all those things happening. Derrick is going down the same path from my estimation.

Better bench perhaps, but Rip can't stay healthy, Boozer's soft, Deng's been inconsistent up until this year, when conveniently, he got hurt, and Noah is limited offensively. Yeah it's better, but by how much?

I'd take Tyrone Hill over Boozer, I know he's at least going to play hard and rebound everyday. Aaron Mckie was the 6th man of the year before, I'd take him over the Rip Hamilton Chicago has right now. Theo Ratliff lead the league in blocks a couple times, he wasn't no joke.

I say Rose has better supporting cast by a little. Rip can still play and m may not be a threat offensively but he is a pretty good defensive player, korver good shooter, boozer not all that bad and deng pretty good aswell. Like I said take Rose off the team and they atleast a 40 win team. Take Iverson off that 01 team and they a 25 win team at best proably.

The biggest similarity I see with Rose's Bulls and Iverson's 76ers is the lack of a consistent second scoring threat. Rose and Iverson were the only two that could consistently get points and get scoring chances on their own.

No I definitely agree with you on that, I'm just saying the margin isn't that big. But the bench clearly is, no doubt about it.

Exactly.
