He deserved it leading that squad of vets to the 1 seed two years in a row.
For some reason, I feel like if Derrick Rose wouldn't have gotten hurt, Thibs would have won it. Sure, they could have these awards decided weeks in advance, but it seems to me Tom did more, with way less.
I agree. I'm much more impressed with the job that Thibs did than Pop, because aside from Rose they don't really have any other scorer on their team. Bulls' front office really have to find another superstar to play alongside Rose because they can't depend on him not to get injured again in the future.
Why would you even want Amare? I don't think even Thibs can get him to play defense.
A friend of mine actually predicted Rose getting seriously hurt before the season even started, not so much because of the lockout but his style of play. Everything just seems so hard. He really does remind me of Allen Iverson. They both have the same type of teams too, unfortunately. I just don't see who they can possibly get to help, unless Amare has finally got himself out of NY...
Another solid effort from the Lakers tonight, although they got a little too cute in the 2nd half. This should've been another blowout, but I'll take it.

I think Rose has better supporting players then what Iverson had here in Philly.
A bunch of defensive minded role players without another offensive option able to create his own shot consistently. Who on that '01 Sixers team was a real threat to score on a night in, night out basis. Likewise, who on the Bulls has that ability?
Part of the reason Iverson fell off a cliff is because his game was predicated on speed, and getting to the basket. Once injuries, and age, caught up to him, he never developed the other skills to still impact the game in the same way he once did. And because of the lack of another scorer, I think it accelerated all those things happening. Derrick is going down the same path from my estimation.
Better bench perhaps, but Rip can't stay healthy, Boozer's soft, Deng's been inconsistent up until this year, when conveniently, he got hurt, and Noah is limited offensively. Yeah it's better, but by how much?
I'd take Tyrone Hill over Boozer, I know he's at least going to play hard and rebound everyday. Aaron Mckie was the 6th man of the year before, I'd take him over the Rip Hamilton Chicago has right now. Theo Ratliff lead the league in blocks a couple times, he wasn't no joke.
I say Rose has better supporting cast by a little. Rip can still play and m may not be a threat offensively but he is a pretty good defensive player, korver good shooter, boozer not all that bad and deng pretty good aswell. Like I said take Rose off the team and they atleast a 40 win team. Take Iverson off that 01 team and they a 25 win team at best proably.
The biggest similarity I see with Rose's Bulls and Iverson's 76ers is the lack of a consistent second scoring threat. Rose and Iverson were the only two that could consistently get points and get scoring chances on their own.
