I thought all this Lin crap was put to bed once he saw the upper echelon teams. We all saw what happened, why in the world would NY overpay for him?

I understand they have a track record of doing that, but it doesn't mean they have to continue. They're already overpaying Amare as it is, and while Lin would definitely be good for revenue, that only applies if he keeps playing at the same level that brought him to prominence in the first place. He already showed last year that wasn't going to be the case.

they would overpay him to bring in the $$$ from Asia

Right, but like I said, that only applies if he were to continue to play at a high level. He was a novelty, an Asian pg that was actually dominating. Everyone could get behind that.

But it doesn't work so well when you start playing worse, like he started to before he got hurt. If he's just some nondescript player who belongs in the NBA, but never again shows the ability to take over games, hit game-winning shots, and reel off a baffling win streak, then I doubt the publicity continues. He had no expectations before, with a contract like that, the whole situation changes. Particularly in NY, they're very adept at eating their own...

So, when do the NBA players playing in the Olympics get to find out which five star hotel they will be staying in while in London?

Brazil giving it to the USA team early on

Hoping OJ Mayo join the Lakers....probably wont happen, but here's hoping.

I had to break your spirit but, he can could make more money and get way more playing time elsewhere. If he was 32 then he would go to the Lakers.

I've done a flip flop on the Lin thing. At first I was pissed at the Knicks but now after hearing the details, they're in the right. Lin and his agent tried to get cute by going back to Houston to restructure the deal's 3rd year after knowing that the Knicks were willing to match. The Knicks have every right to be pissed, Lin bit off more than he could chew.

I don't think Felton is all that and I def don't think that this means Chris Paul coming to NY is any more likely (because I don't see it happening ever) but this totally backfired on Lin.

Chris Paul will end up in NYC. Melo sees him every day, works out with him and he's confident that it's going to happen. Paul made the toast and I'm confident he's going to make sure it happens. I honestly believe it's why Dolan is saying forget you to Lin even though his contract isn't THAT bad.

It was fun the last half of the year watching Lin, as a Knicks fan. Personally, I didn't care if he came back. I think he's better than people gave him credit for but we can get someone who is a better PG than him for a lot cheaper. Not that it matters since we're going to be over the CAP for years. Plus, I thought Kidd coming to NYC would help out Shump a lot more than Lin anyway. As for Chris Paul...I always excepted him to become a Knick at some point. Then he didn't sign the extension with LA, now we don't sign back "our point guard for the future". I think upper management knows a little more then we do and with Melo and him being good friends, I think it's a good sign he'll be here starting next season.

Dwight been dying to get to become a net and it has yet to happen due to the salary cap. Paul to the knicks would be no different. Knicks are max cap. The only way to sign Paul is to get rid of stat in a salary dump. because Paul ain't signing midlevel contract. So please feel free to propose a logical trade for stat cuz that's one thing I have yet to see any knick fan or media say. Stat, Mello and Chandler alone make 53 million combined! That doesn't even include the new deals camby, kid, Smith, Novak, and Felton signed lol .

I know right? I agree that Paul would love to play for the Knicks but he's not gonna do it for free. They would have to try a sign and trade with the Clips. Good luck trying to get them to take back Kidd, Felton, Camby or Thomas.

Jamison Close to signing with the Lakers. Can't be a bad move for the minimum.

The NBA doesn't have a hard cap. Teams get penalized for going over it but they CAN go over it. You think Dolan wouldn't pay to get Chris Paul?! Over the cap or not, he's going to get him. Speaking of which, the Nets signed Humphries to a 2 year contract worth around $20M. That means their starting lineup alone is making $10M+ each and Proko-----whatever it is, doesn't care. Dolan is known to throw money at players and when Paul is free, I think they will get it done. Me personally, I'd match Lin's offer, just to use him as trade bait than let him walk for nothing. But if the Knicks don't, I couldn't care less. Lin has a ton of faults and due to Linsanity, you are going to have guards have career highs against him just to prove a point to him.

Again your not seeing the point. It don't matter how much money Dolan has. There over the cap meaning they can only sign him with an exception. I know Dolan don't care about the luxury tax but its moot because all the knicks can offer Paul is the exception.

Yeah but can't Amare and/or Melo restructure his contract after this year? It's not out of the realm of possibility.

Grant hill signs with the clippers! Great pickup! now we just need a back up five

Mario chalmers dominated his ass.

Remember they had to put Shumpert on Parker when they played the Spurs, guess out of fear that Lin would get dominated.

No idea which one I'm tired of more, the Lin or Howard situations.

I'm more sick of Lin. At least Howard is a franchise changer. Lin had a good 10 game stretch and now you have people who wants Melo's head on a plate blaming him for Lin leaving. And if you stand up for Melo or call Lin overrated, you are then labeled a racist because you hate asians. Go figure!
