The NBA doesn't have a hard cap. Teams get penalized for going over it but they CAN go over it. You think Dolan wouldn't pay to get Chris Paul?! Over the cap or not, he's going to get him. Speaking of which, the Nets signed Humphries to a 2 year contract worth around $20M. That means their starting lineup alone is making $10M+ each and Proko-----whatever it is, doesn't care. Dolan is known to throw money at players and when Paul is free, I think they will get it done. Me personally, I'd match Lin's offer, just to use him as trade bait than let him walk for nothing. But if the Knicks don't, I couldn't care less. Lin has a ton of faults and due to Linsanity, you are going to have guards have career highs against him just to prove a point to him.
The NBA has a soft cap, which teams can go over, but once they do, they can only sign players to exceptions. Meaning a team over the cap can't sign players to max contracts. Which is why, until this upcoming year, Miami had such a weak bench, because with all the money split up towards the Big 3, they could only bring in guys willing to take vet minimums.
In other news, apparently someone on Twitter put Dwight Howard on blast, posting some DM's that Dwight made to him bashing the Magic organization. Basically, Dwight is whining that he only got 1 phone call from the Magic after his surgery, so he's using that to say that the Magic don't care about him, never did, and only care about the $$$ he brings.
To which I say, welcome to the real world, Dwight. Grow up and stop acting like a whiny girl. Companies typically don't care about their employees beyond the value they bring to the company, and companies typically aren't going to bring flowers and get well cards to your bedside in the hospital. It sucks, but that's the real world. You think the Nets are going to value you any more? Hell, you don't even value
them, you just want to go there to play in a big market alongside a premiere point guard, and get all that media exposure...
In the tweets, Howard also said his back isn't okay, he's not healthy, and that the Magic are "hiding" it from the rest of the league.
Oh Dwight. I'm not gonna lie, ultimately I want to see this resolved, and Dwight sign the extension (I'm not delusional, I know it's
not happening), but he sure is a whiny little runt.
Watching Dwight's antics this summer make me not really care what they do down there in South Beach with LeBron, Wade, and Bosh, and all the Big 3's they are forming down in Miami. Cleveland may have gotten boned by LeBron, but at least it was done quickly, and allowed Cleveland to attempt to move on, and James didn't insult the city or the franchise in the process. Dwight is just dragging the Magic and the city of Orlando through the mud.
