Nope... I don't think they got "hosed"... other than the game might have been different if not for ONE play (the botched punt return), but it happened, the Giants scored, and the Niners still had a chance to win.

If your team lost because they were cocky, then you can blame your team for failing to show up.

My team was not cocky, and showed up for the game, and had a great chance to win... same goes for the Giants... it was a damn close game...

If the Giants had beaten the Niners without that ONE play, I might be sining a different tune... it's just one of those "plays" that unfortunately happens, and you hate to see the outcome of a game decided on it.

And had we won the game, we would have deserved it... just like the Giant fans feel like their team deserved it.

Unlike the AFC game, where the Ravens clearly outplayed the Pats, both teams in the NFC championship played well enough to "deserve" the win... unfortunately, that only happens to the team that scores the most points...

Unlike a Steelers fan, I can hold my head up high this morning and still feel proud for my team.

:yay:

Umm...okay?

Your analysis of the game is way off, btw. :oldrazz:

I'd sign him for one more year, and make in high on "bonus incentives"... if by the 12th game, he's clearly shown great improvement, sign him to an extention... maybe 3 to 5 years... would depend on the "improvement" of play...
I guess we'll see how passionate Smith is for the 49ers if he accepts a 1 year deal.

No way his agent would let him accept a one year deal.

I've picked up on that a bit too. None of this loss falls on the Niners. It is just a "fluke," from the Giants. It doesn't matter to fans that Smith played like total ****. It doesn't matter that the Niners had all kinds of stupid penalties (which Harbaugh didn't seem to hold his team accountable for). The lack of third down conversions, the ridiculously conservative play calling, the mental lapses, the bad special teams play and so on and so forth....The Niners lost this game because they deserved to lose. Their fans seem to act like they were heirs apparent to the Lombardi, that this was THEIR season and that they were some how deprived of it unjustly.

Agree. Niners deserved to lose. Horrible QB play, receivers not getting open, horrible QB protection by the OL, and some really foolish penalties/turnovers. Giants defense played really well, Cruz had a hell of a game, and Manning did pretty well considering how much punishment he took from the 49ers defense. They also avoided the idiotic penalties/turnovers. Giants deserved the win, plain and simple.

Speaking of the dumb penalities ... I love that Davis gets the celebration penalty on his first TD and then on his second TD he pushes teammates away because it was so important to do his little dance. Maybe you lay off that crap since you already hurt your team once?

Incredible talent, but that guy will never get it.

Didn't really impact the game, but that stuff drives me crazy when I watch games.

Everybody plays "shoulda coulda woulda" when it comes to football... it was an excellent game, and unfortunately, my team didn't win... doesn't make me wanna cheer for the Giants though... like CConn mentions, they play really dumb football most times, and it's difficult to appreciate a team that fumbles their way to success, and I have just hated the Giants for over 25 years now... never liked them, never will...

Yes but you make it sound like the 49ers totally outclassed the Giants . They were about even in total yards so lets not get carried aweay . This was a one of the most evenly contested matchups in a long time ... Fumbles their way to success ? They beat the 2 top seeds on the road... That is called earning their succcess ...

Yes they were only 9-7 but they also had the toughest schedule in football , and had a a boat load of injuries for most of the year ... So lets cut the crap . The 4 teams yesterday proved that they were all deserving to be where they were and we had 2 classics in ond day ... Unfortunately 2 teqams have to lose so you tip your hat and move on.

I don't recall ever getting a better set of conference championships games yet .... It was a hell of a day to be a football fan though I am sure Niners and Ravens fans are dissapointed . Still all 4 teams and therir fans can take pride in the fact that they showed that they were 4 teams that deserved to be where they were.

I could take the time to look for the post, but I believe you said they were a team that played kinds dumb football and never to their full potential most times... or soemthing like that...
I didn't say most times.

And, honestly, if they end up winning two Super Bowls in 4 years, their inconsistency will kinda be a moot point. It's post season Ws that matter.

Anyone know how much of a beating Kyle Williams is taking in the Bay Area press or on the sports talkers?

Come on Lee Evans didn't drop the ball. Lets give the defender some credit . He knocked the ball loose before Evans could get control . I am giving credit to the defense on that.

Cundiff missed a fg that was nearly an extra point by a lot ... That will give the Ravens and their fans some nightmare for awhile

Evans did have time to secure the ball and go to the ground instead of turning.

That was my problem with it. As Simms pointed out, Evans was trying to turn around and begin celebrating before the play was over. That ball was very catchable and he blew it. But Cundiff's mistake was worse.

I hate that Evans just blinked as Moore's hands came down and just let the ball pop out like a bar of soap.

But anyway you put it, Cundiff missing was a joke.

Anyone going to watch the HBO special on Joe Namath this Saturday?

I would say Cundiff's was way worse than Williams'.

Fumbles happen. Missing that kick was atrocious.

If I'm doing the scheduling right, the 49ers are going against the NFC North and AFC East next year?

So, with finishing first in their division they have to face: Manning, Brees, Rogers, Stafford and Brady or essentially the 5 QBs who threw for the most yards this year.

Jim Harbaugh needs to put his foot down and tell Davis not to do those silly stuff, or get benched. If he can't even control Davis, what kind of head coach would he be? Look at Ochocinco; even he got muted by the Hoodie.
