50 state initiative

Same here V.

Hey Omega Flight or Alpha? What's your preference?

Alpha Flight had so much potential it's mind boggling.
However it's potential is balanced out by how badly that team was handled.

Omega flight seems promising mostly because there's not as far to fall...
(although beta ray bill is awesome) and yet it's still pretty cool.

So far i'll say alpha flight but i may change my mind once omega actually comes out.

i live in New Jersey, so the Jerseians would be our team.

-The Jersey Devil [leader]
- The gay polotician
-Rutgers man
- The Garden state

Sorry I missed this little gem, so what their story? Powers?

I kinda like it.

More info.

Louisiana

Jean Harlequin: No actual powers, just well disguised weaponry including bomb-bells in his fool's cap, constricting bead-chains, razor coins, and some acrobatic skill.

Gambit: come home to lend a hand, and sort his brain out after having it screwed with by Apocalypse. He finds himself unable to face Rogue any longer, and after telling her to find someone else, and move one, he adds "And don't come for me."

Sargass: A thousand year old crocodile that can speak english (although with hiss). He is highly intelligent, and very wise.

Sister Tarot: a swamp mystic gifted with visions of the future.

Crewe: a set of attractive triplets that can combine to form an extremely strong, flying, amazon.

Yeah it's gonna be interesting to see how this plays out.

Not familiar with these characters except Gambit.

made all but Gambit up. Gov't producing new heroes to fill these gaps (as seen in CW6)

Brotha VooDoo is perfect for your team.

As is Mort the teenage Zombie.

Brotha Voodoo is haitian, not from Louisiana.

Mort the teenage zombie... I can live with that one.

Nice Ideas Deemar Could The Poster Please Mention When They're Using Their Own Heroes So We Don't Mistake Them For Unfamiliar Marvel Super Heroes also could we please stick to the topic at hand which is what i wrote in my first post

Oklahoma
Boomer: Sonic Powers
Sooner: Speedster or teleporter...
Golden Hurricane: She actually generates tornados, but he's from Tulsa. Don't ask
Redhawk: A Native America with enhanced strength, speed, and the ability to fly.
Rusty Collins: Well he's the only existing character from Oklahoma that I can think of, even if he is dead.

Even though I already did my state, I'm kind of interested in thinking up teams for other states aswell. I'll get back to you on that.

Oregon (might be slightly hokey, but i'm serious. all originals)

Captain Communist: class 45 strength, flight, limited invulnerability. He is an adamant believer in Marxist ideas, however he's a bit naive about how it all works. despite his very adult physique, he's only 17.

Femme: super-speed, and pheremones. Very proactive about women's rights, what some might term "Fem-nazi". she is the leader because she won't follow anyone else's orders.

Vegan: able to control and accelerate the growth of plants. is a vegan, but only because his physiology can no longer tolerate anything that is derived from animals. very bitter.

Anarchist: able to suspend the laws of physics. very basic control at current time (basically it grants him invulnerability, flight, and strength, though he doesn't actually possess those powers. He can also cause matter to instantly dissassociate [read: Explode]). only came to his anarchist views after he recieved his powers.

Lord Nihilism: able to cause all things in a fifty foot radius to stop. is actually a hard working decent person that the papers assumed was a Nihilist and didn't get the option of a name.

Right you are.

My team were all C-D list heroes plus one villian.

Heh Vegan is funny.

I know I was just going with the VooDoo theme he had plus he's lived in New Orleans before.

Well, I put Sister Tarot on the roster to fill that place. she's knows swamp magic.

I would just like to provide some equal time; CIVIL WAR has had many good ideas and many bad ideas (and some poor execution of many ideas), but the 50 STATE INITIATIVE is an idea that makes a lot of sense and finally addresses the supreme oversaturation of heroes in NY and sometimes CA, with very few in-between. Of course, considering most of the decent supervillian are dead, Thunderbolts, or in jail/hiding, lord knows who they'd be actually facing, but who knows. If only it weren't being done in CW because it's a no-brainer sort of idea, to spread the superheroes around.

Yeah if theres one thing we get outta this is the even spread of heroes in other states.

Maybe Marvel should do a series of One-Shots featuring all the Superteams from each state and the fans can vote on 5 teams to get an ongoing series.

Is it a one shot? Is it an ongoing?

I would like it to be kinda like 52, maybe come out everyother week though, it should focus mainly on the 50 superteams throughout the U.S., with the exception of New York. Showing how states like Montana, Utah, etc are affected by the initiative, I'm guessing there will be quite a bit of B-C listers floating around on the various teams, so if it was an ongoing, it would be a b-listers paradise. I would buy it. The Mighty Avengers would of course be in the book here and there but, again focus on other characters, besides the big dogs, 52 has been great without the appearance of Superman, Batman, and Wonder Women.

Frankly, the only bad thing about the 50 State Initiative is that it is happening in CW, a story that pretty much turns liberal hatred of the current administration, especially before Democrats retook Congress, and harnesses these emotions for punch. When 2008-2009 comes and a Democrat is President and Congress still under their control, then Marvel's government will suddenly be less evil and the 50 state thing will really kick off. Bank on it.
