The Dark Knight Rises 6 Minutes of TDKR footage attached to Mission Impossible 4! - - - - Part 13

I don't know what year you lived it, but it's been one of the best.

Thor
Captain America
Drive Angry (damn right!)
Rango
Limitless
Paul
Super
The King's Speech
Hanna
X-Men First Class
Transformers 3 (sue me)
Rise of the Apes
Fright Night
The Rum Diary
Immortals
and finally, IMO the best...

Super 8.

But maybe it's just me. I loved this year.

Ok, so I might be stretching a little bit here...but because Bane reminds me a little of Darth Vader and knowing Nolan grew up a fan of the original Star Wars movie, does anybody else think the prologue scene might've been influenced by the opening sequence in the original Star Wars film, when Vader's larger Star Destroyer hijacks and takes control of Princess Leia's Rebel ship?

The only issue I hope is fixed in the final edit is the weird double explosion when Bane's men blow out the back of the smaller plane.

Oh it was good, but certainly not for THOSE reasons.

Drive, The Artist, Tinker Tailor, Hugo, MI: GP, Tintin, Source Code, First Class, Rise of the Apes, Puss in Boots, Arthur Christmas, The muppets, Harry potter, The descendants, 50/50, moneyball etc etc

I mean...Immortals...REALLY? I can't think of a single mindset that would think that is a good film let alone one of the best of the year.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes, The Kings Speech, Paul and MAYBE the marvel films are the only one on that list I agree with.

To each his own dude, to each his own. The Artist and Moneyball left no real impression on me. And Puss in Boots I didn't think was that good either - more Shrek 3 level quality. Watchable, but not the "best." For him it was those, for you it was those. It's all subjective.

Ahhh...subjectivity. The word that protects those who think Transformers 2 is a better film than the godfather.

Or that it's better then the third TF.

Back to prologue talk, after seeing the prologue for at least 20 times in IMAX it is very clear just like a bunch of posters have said that CIA is spot on in his delivery. Come the guy shows up to a exchange in what looks to be a hostile environment wearing a polo, khaki pants and a members only jacket. He's not a field operative, the men guarding him are but he is not. He has most likely never been in this type of situation and is trying to do something big in his career with this mission. He's interrogating the men to bring something back to Langley that'll make him look good.

I wouldn't necessarily agree with that, but hey - some people might. And, as someone in the film industry, all we really want is to bring entertainment to the masses. Some like oranges, others like popcorn.

Because it is true. Beause film is all but subjective. Film is not objective. If one thinks this, that is dangerous. It's a bad attitude to have when someone thinks they're better than them because they may think a film is great that is commonly not known as a great film. But it's still opinion. And their differing opinion is just as valid as the majority that may think that film isn't good, and yes, that goes for Transformers 2.

Please don't misunderstand, It's not about thinking that I'm better than others, that line of thinking is one that I despise. It's just a personal preference, obviously I'm not going to respect all opinions equally, if someone told me they legit thought transformers 2 was a better film than the godfather (this is basic simple example...I actually like Michael Bay films) I personally wouldn't take their opinion as "valid" because in my eyes, that is such an extreme difference in opinion to mine, it just isn't something I would be able to process or understand. Of course that doesn't make them a lesser person by any means...Just not someone that I'd respect or take seriously. :oldrazz:

But that is neither here nor there....And I've got to watch the TDKR bootleg again, my once every 24 hours quota is nearly up! :awesome:

There's far too much politeness on here sometimes.

I'm sorry, I don't think that Transformers 2 will ever be better than the Godfather and personally I think whoever does is a fool.

I'm not so much concerned about subjectivity in certain matters, there are fundamentals to filmmaking and storytelling that aren't exactly a matter of preference.

Don't get me wrong, I understand the whole: It's someone's opinion, everyone's not going to like the same thing but there are just some things I don't think are really possible when looking at things from an educated standpoint. (educated here is not being used in the fashion of school smarts but just looking at facts)

Possibly. But I'd say it's more a homage to the opening action scene in the James Bond film License to Kill where Bond and co. literally pull a plane out of the air mid-flight with a helicopter.

amen!

Saw the prologue today attached to MI in Manchester UK. Screening was delayed because something was up with the sound system, ended up working at the last minute, but right before it did a awesome manager said for the inconvenience everyone would get a free pass for any film! =D funny too, he asked out of interest who was here mainly for the prologue and a good scatter of hands went up! "I like ur enthusiasm" he said =D

MI itself was very good, the IMAX shots wer jawdropping, especially the skyscraper part. Interesting to see how Nolan tries to top that for wow factor!

I had watched a terrible bootleg a week ago, so the impact was lessened, but it allowed me to absorb more. Only negative thing I could find was something felt abit awkward about some parts of it, but now I think about it, the plane was in a fair state of turbulence so that makes sence lol. I do think the "for you" line needs tweeking to flow better.

Overall, was engrossing, jawdropping, and fun. Why are people ragging on the likeness to skyhook? Was obv ment to mirror it. Sizzle reel at the end was a killer. Stunned silence filled the audience until afew people, including me, broke it will a "Jesus", "woah", or the most popular (which I also did) was the laugh of disbelief after the broken mask was dropped.

Maybe its cos im Scottish, maybe its cos I knew beforehand what his lines wer, but I understood 99.9% of what Bane said. All that evaded me was the line about fear. The music peeks at that point and was overpowered. Asked my gf after, she understood all but that too. I really don't get the dislike for his voice. It dragged me in and MADE ME LISTEN! Its also so refreshing/different/unique that it, and he, becomes something else entirety (no pun intended). I'm not quite hearing any Latin infections.

For anyone who can't understand it at this moment in time, I recommend the following - log into Amazon & order a Sean Connery boxset, Die Hard 3 (for Iron's voice), Lost (Desmond, brotha), and I suppose Star Wars. That, or a hearing test ;)

On the topic of subjectivity: If anyone tries to tell you that The Godfather, Chinatown or Alien are anything other than masterpieces ignore everything else they say immediately. They are wrong.

Also Submarine is the best film I've seen this year (see my sig).

Also TDKR looks great doesn't it. :awesome:

I forgot all about that scene! Makes sense also since Nolan is a Bond fan as well. Good connection.

At my job at lincoln square the imax projectionist played with the sound system, and now you hear every word Bane says. its great!
