7.07 - Wrath - Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

Man. Rosenbaum was on, in this episode.

Oh yeah definitely. He's the best actor on the show after John Glover, IMO.

I don't recall her acting insane since season 3 or 4. To me, she only started to get darker after she found out the pregnancy was a fake.

Although it's true that she hasn't been the "innocent girl next door" for quite some time, I wouldn't say she took an excessively dark path until Lex messed with her.

I've recently re watched the scene when Lex talked to her about her "miscarriage". It is so intense that he could do what he did to her, and make it seem as though he was mourning a fictitious child that he created.

He faked her pregnancy.
He showed that he was excited for the baby.
He created a scenario where Lana passed out, allowing her to believe it was her fault, her baby was dead, and that he was deeply hurt about it.

Yah, I can understand why she's pissed.

I have to give Lex props though. The man was dedicated in making things look real. He even had a fake nursery room prepared.

this episode was dung! worst of the season.

Most certainly. Evil Genius.

Naaaaah....stuff like this happens to people everyday. :whatever:

I was just wondering if anyone else noticed that Lana has been insane for like the past 3-4 seasons and it didnt start because of the what Lex did to her during the pregnancy. I knew as soon as she got clarks powers that she was going to do the bad things she always wanted to do and then play it off afterwards as if the powers corrupted her and she didnt understand what she was doing but in reality shes just been lieing to everyone and really is a bad person, and it looks like Lex and Lionel are the only ones who really see it. I am glad though that everyone in this episode finally got to see a little bit of what she really is, unfortunately its only the tip of the iceberg.

The biggest lier on this show, for the last 6 seasons has been...............................Clark.

How many times has he pulled Lana in just to lie to her and break her heart? All in the name of protecting her! What a buncha crap.

She's not evil. She's pissed! Rightfully so.

Just glad she told Clark to get his butt of the farm!!

I don't like this idea people have that this is who Lana really is. This is what she became. Not to say that she isn't crazy, or in the wrong, but the girl was played like a child's toy.

Wow 10 minutes into the episode and SuperLana is already in black leather and corrupt.

She already has heat vision, super strength, superspeed, super hearing, x-ray vision :|

Girls mature faster? :/

Maybe the supersex, um, fleshed out whatever powers were still sketchy at that point.

Clark already had those powers so that's why she had them as well. It's not like Lana could fly and Clark couldn't.

Lionel had Clark dipped in a Kryptonite solution and violated his private memories in "Memoria" and he didn't resort to going commando on him.

And if Clark DID "go commando" on anyone, they'd show us some cute euphemism instead, just like with the tree in this ep. :-<

And I personally hated the sex scene as well. I can't explain it. Maybe it was just too campy...maybe I just hate Lana that much...but it irked me to the nth degree.

I don't know why, but I actually liked the episode. Besides the obvious yawns of Lana's leather fetish and all that, I actually liked to see something CHANGING in SV and having at least SOMEKIND consequences. I think this was a great episode and for once, I don't feel like underlining every absurdity or stupidity in it.

Of course, I could be just jumping ahead. Maybe things will be back to the default SV like always. That'd be silly, but not a surprise in any way.

black goo that goes on a human and then you see the goo around their eyes?
wasnt this on the x-files?

Okay dude...what's up with this avvy? Isn't that a kid?

Yup. It was called Black Oil, among few other things. I was rolling my eyes the second we first time saw the black goo dropping from the ship in SV. It's like, a rip-off like none other.

I would just like for there to be acknowledgment that Lana went through some really bad stuff done to her, and this craziness isn't just coming out of nowhere.

Oh, I know exactly where it's coming from. Stupid f@#ing lazy writing. The same stupid f@#ing lazy writing that has prevented the character of Lana from ever evolving into something worthwhile. The same stupid f@#ing lazy writing that led to her being a witch in the 4th season for no good reason. I have no beef against the character. I do have beef with the writers who could never figure out what to do with her.

Oh, I dunno. Some of the things the writers have done to Lana have been pretty creative - damn near unbelievable, actually. I mean seriously - a sixteenth century witch? Where'd THAT come from?

Silly? YES! Lazy writing? Mmmmm... not so much. :p

I'd take consistency over "damn near unbelievable" any day of the week.

Actually Lana being a witch didn't come out of nowhere. That's pretty canon to be honest. So it's not like it came from the writers directly. You'd have to blame the comics for that.

Ok, first of all, ONE version of Lana Lang was a witch, and that version disappeared after COIE. Second of all, that means nothing in a show like Smallville where they have taken such HUGE liberties when it comes to the source material. You can't have it both ways.
