i know everyone here loves keaton, but eddie redmayne really did deserve to win over keaton. he was mind blowing good in theory of everything. keaton was great in birdman, but redmayne was better.

I just hope Keaton gets nominated again in 5 years. Then the Academy will give him his "we owe you" Oscar.

Though considering the writers were all handpicked by him, yeah, that's still on him.

I agree. This film was a small, character driven film that was led by Keaton. It lived or died by his performance.

The fact of the matter is that it was a biographical role about a historic figure with a crippling, tragic disease VS. a washed up, schizofrenic actor trying to put on an off-Broadway play.

Despite the momentum in favor of Keaton originally, the Academy couldn't pass up the opportunity to vote in favor of another crippling disease.

They weren't NPH's writers. He had his people do his material and Berlanti and co. did everything else. Though, considering even the non-NPH stuff was so blah, I'd say this should be a lesson NOT to let people running two different shows write the Oscars, because that **** was just droll.
