Honestly, as much as I love Guillermo del Toro, he is probably third on my list out of those three. Dunkirk is a directorial masterstroke, so I'd personally have Nolan out in front. Anderson would be in a very close second, because Phantom Thread knocks it out of the park in every single facet.

Having said that, I have zero issue with Guillermo winning. His speeches thus far have warmed my heart, and I honestly don't know how many more opportunities he'll have.

Looks like Oldman will finally get his Oscar.

As for Best Picture, I’d be happy with either Get Out, Three Billboards, or Dunkirk winning. I’m probably going to check out The Shape of Water and Lady Bird before the Oscars. I think one of those five will win.

My only disappointments were no BP noms for Wind River or Logan.

I feel like Oldman for Best Actor and The Shape of Water for best picture are the safest bets

Planet of the Apes for Visuals is safe too, I think.

I don't care what anyone here thinks, Wonder Woman should have got a nomination for Costume Design, I wouldn't have been disappointed if it dd not win, but not getting a nom is strange.

In order to nominate one thing, it means taking out another. What film of that list would you cut out? It's a pretty strong list.

I feel Get Out's nominations were added as an afterthought, as well as Logan's Best Adapted Screenplay nom. I can see Peele winning for Best Original Screenplay, I'd be shocked if Kaluuya or Best Director won.

Nolan will likely end up empty-handed this year. It seems to be Guillermo del Toro's year, as well as Gary Oldman's.

A bit angry Wonder Woman did not score any nominations, not even technical achievements. Would've swapped out Denzel in favor of Hugh Jackman for Logan.

Wonder Woman is strong in that department as any other movies listed here, so it's not a case of something unworthy replacing something so much more here.

I will have an opinion on that once I see both those movies this weekend.

Sounds about right, yeah.

I have to wonder if there would be any surprise wins as far as acting goes, because I think back to Michael Keaton, for example, racking up so many wins for Birdman and then once the Oscars roll around, boom, Eddie Redmayne came in for the win.

I am still ticked about that. I saw both movies. I strongly feel Keaton gave the better performance. Not that Redmayne wasn't great, but the make-up did much of his acting. Keaton had to do more, and in takes that spanned up to 10 minutes at a time in different scenes with different emotional temperatures WITHOUT STOPPING! Or even preparing for the other emotional range he was going to need for the next part. It was incredible.

Bad enough Del Toro gonna win BD, come on Billboards!

Haven't seen The Shape of Water yet, but how is that bad? Del Toro's filmography may not all be great films, but he has made them.

Sad War for the Planet of the Apes didn’t get a BP nom. Also upset that they aren’t giving Serkis a ‘Special Achievement’ award. Happy to see Get Out, Peele, and Kaluuya get noms. Shape of Water is great so I’m hoping it walks away with some trophies.

Andy Serkis will prob get some type of honorary Oscar. It just won't be for many years. They usually give those to you after you retire, or when you're really old, LOL
