Best VFX Oscar shortlist:
Ant-Man
Age of Ultron
Ex Machina
Jurassic World
Mad Max: Fury Road
The Martian
The Revenant
The Force Awakens
Tomorrowland
The Walk

After seeing Revenant I think it's Leo's to lose now. He basically had to act with his mannerisms and expressions for most of the flick, which impressed me more than the other dialogue laden lead roles.

So Bridge of Spies was actually good and not the most boring movie ever, like it appeared to be?

It's grade A filmmaking from top to bottom. I didn't love it (it still feels like an old person's movie at times which Spielberg seems to be doing the opposite of what he did earlier in his career) but I can't deny the excellent filmmaking and performances from Hanks and Rylance. It's like Mad Max for me. It's a great film but I wasn't crazy about it and I don't think it's the second coming of Christ like the internet has declared it to be.

My Best Actor and Best Actress of the year are Tom Hardy in Legend and Alicia Vikander in The Danish Girl.

Won't hold my breath for Hardy to get nominated though.

They're also like the MVPS of the year, with Hardy in 5 movies and Vikander in 7 (!).

Vikander came the **** out of nowhere. I hadn't heard of her before August.

Vikander is doing a " Jessica Chastain". Basically signing up for anything that comes through her post box.

Her 2015 movies include:

Seventh Son
Ex Machina
The Man from U.N.C.L.E.
Burnt
The Danish Girl

2016 movies are:

Submergence

Bourne 5
The Light Between Oceans
Tulip Fever

I'm not hatin' it's good if you can get it.

''A Royal Affair'' from 2012. Alicia Vikander and Mads Mikkelsen. Get on it.

As far as 2015 is concerned, she gets my vote for ''Ex Machina''.

Hope she gets a Best Supporting nod for Ex Machina.

Yeah ever since I saw her in Ex Machina back in April, she just started appearing in everything.

I saw Anomalisa last night, that was such a great experience. It's got a better love story than 90% of live action movies.

I love stop motion but even in some of the best stop motion films I find myself much more interested in the craftsmanship than the story.

With Anomalisa, even when the animation purposefully calls attention to itself I found myself even more bound up in the characters.

I think right now its coming down to Michael Fassbender and Leo for best actor. I cant lie I can imagine the academy giving it to Fassbender regardless.

I disagree. This is Leo's to take and the faaaaar second is Cranston. Jobs' weak performance killed Fassbender's momentum and the surprising support for Trumbo is propelling Cranston. These 4 I think should be safe for nominations: Leo, Cranston, Fassbender, Redmayne with Damon, Smith, Carell, etc. fighting for that last spot.

Anyway, I thought this was interesting: http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/envelope/la-et-mn-oscars-so-white-again-20160103-story.html

yeah but I don't think the movies weak performance affects the acting for potential acting awards. Just because a movie bombs doesn't mean it should eliminate an actors work. Trumbo made way less then jobs but I'm sure Cranston is superb as ever in it. I do agree with you though Leo, Cranston, Fassbender are shoe ins at this point.

on a side note I just don't like redmayne and don't see the hype with him.

It did came out in the US (that's how I saw it) and eh... Tom Hardy was good in it but the movie itself fizzles out towards the end.

Legend was really just mediocre with a capital M. Tom was great in it but beyond that there was nothing remarkable about it.

It's pretty similar to Black Mass, Depp was great but the movie itself was just okay.

Producer's Guild Awards Best Picture Nominations:

Ø The Big Short
Ø Bridge of Spies
Ø Brooklyn
Ø Ex Machina
Ø Mad Max: Fury Road
Ø The Martian
Ø The Revenant
Ø Sicario
Ø Spotlight
Ø Straight Outta Compton

Straight out of Compton and Mad Max are getting Oscar noms!!

I don't think Leo is gonna win best actor this year. The script for The Revenant just doesn't suipport the character (or Leo) well enough, leaving the great struggle he goes through feeling a bit hollow.

He may get it just because he's due, but I'm not so sure.
