You know back in 2013 i argued the fact that Man of Steel was a near sure fire win for best picture... until 12 years a slave came along. :o
The Academy screwed that up again. :argh:

Exactly.

And Kedrell, you still haven't explained in any objective terms why AOU is more deserving of BO than the current Noms. Just repeating what you liked and didn't like isn't going to solve anything. Using an objective assessment of the film's in question will result in people taking your opinion more seriously.

I'm not asking nor expecting people to take my opinion seriously. Just like I don't take their's seriously. The opinions have been made, why bother? I just wanted to get my own opinions off my chest. I did so and if nothing came of it then that wouldn't have bothered me in the slightest.

But awards are made up of individual's votes and those votes are individual opinions. I'm not saying they don't have th right to nominate whoever they choose. By all means their opinions are as valid as mine or anyone else's. I was just giving my own opinions. I can't count how many critics and pundits I've seen do this as well as posters around here. I don't go around telling them how I think they are wrong. Why bother?
Individual opinions that form a consensus.

And you totally do. You do it in the most obviously passive aggressive way possible.

But real talk though i was hoping it at least gets nominated for a best visuals oscar, but alas... :csad:
I love MoS, but the CGI is pretty rough at times. I can't remember what else was nominated that year though.

Because 12 Years a Slave was the only thing that kept that from happening. :oldrazz:

And Gravity deserved the awards it got, imo.

Oh, that movie I dislike immensely... :o

See, difference of opinion. I(along with most of the world that saw it) adored Gravity.

Do you see me saying you're passive aggressive(or whatever insults you're saying towards me) at you for being a contrarian? No, you don't. Your opinion is your own and you are welcome to it. You can even make fun of Gravity if you like. Really, it won't bother me. I just don't care so why would it?

Well yeah, didn't you hear the pre-release buzz about it going to be an Oscar contender and WB's highest grossing film of all time? :o

Ah yes, how could I forget.

Gravity was very impressive, but I just couldn't stand Clooney in it. I was so happy to see his smug ass float away into the endless cold void of space. :o
Well it didn't get an award for Best Supporting actor, so I stand by my statement. :oldrazz:

Wolf of Wall Street deserved all the awards. :argh:

It will always bother me that Scorsese won for The Departed and probably nothing else. I love The Departed, think it is a great film. But there are 6 other times where he could and should have won Best Director, including 2013.

I'd say those are your own personal issues then.

Did I say it was bad? Nope. Said I didn't like it, and I don't. I still think it is a very good film. I just can't stand it.

I agree Scorsese has deserved it MANY other times, but I don't consider that year one of those times. Loved Wolf of Wall Street, though.

Just noticed kedrell's dumb signature

Anyway yes Marty has deserved it many times and unfortunately hasn't won. It's a shame.

I don't know about Best Director(and for the record I find The Departed to be one of Scorsese's weakest films) that year but among the BP nominees I'd say it deserved Best Picture. And I definitely thought DiCaprio deserved Best Actor as that is to date the best performance I've ever seen him give. That was the first and only time I saw Leo DiCaprio: MOVIE STAR disappear and what I was left with was only Jordan Belfort.

Wall Street convinced me that Leo needs to do more comedy. F***ing Innaritu making him crawl through snow for three hours. Take some quaaludes, Leo! :argh:

This conversation got me thinking. Am I the only one that never gets the idea of Best Director going to something other then the BP nominee? The two that always stick in my mind are Ang Lee and Spielberg.

Also, I am watching Agent Carter right now. It seems like a bit of a quickie transfer, but still much better then the ABC broadcast. Though, there does not seem to be a play all feature, which is just stupid. :funny:
