9.02 - Metallo - Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

totally going to post my full thoughts in a bit eatching SGU premire right now.

interesting about the kandorians

that doctor who talk to Tess, was that Emmet Vale

Metallo was awsome, Interesting to saw Clark acting smart about taking down Metallo without getting hurt by the kryptonite

like the whole Metallo found out about Clark's weekness with Kryptonites, and seeing Clark in his blur outfit. here's hoping that BAG return.
Alia in the Hous of El crest. she might be related to Clark(who might being going the silver age route with Clark as a disguise and Kal-el/Blur/Superman as the real personality but something in the end scene between Clark and Lois told me that Clark is going to be the real personality again).

nice Lois/tess interaction(agreeing with what Webhead said), Nice Martha Kent references and great seeing Shelby again
Metallo/John Corben was great and I felt a little sympathetic and little happy seeing another bad guy who started out bad(like Brainiac, Major Zod, Toyman, Parasite, etc). Hope to see a Roger Corben(Metallo's brother) and hear Lois to call John Metallo though, but nice n
like Clark/Lois interactions and great s

sad, I miss some of the Rabid trailer, only saw part of the begining and only part of the ending.

9/10

Like Clark using his head to defeat Metallo instead of having the answer just given to him by either Chloe or Hamilton plus a sloberknocker type brawl with Metallo wouldnt have worked anyway

I agree. It was nice seeing Clark use his head for once (and remember that lead protects him from kryptonite). Also, glad to see him not getting much help from Chloe.

Great episode tonight. I'm glad that Brain Austin Green's Corben grew on me.

well now
we know the young jorel is actually on earth and isnt flashbacks.
But overall a very good episode.

If I were you I'd spoiler that sentence. You may know this but others who dont live and breath on these boards ans read every spoiler do not.

That wasn't Alia, she arrived with Zod's troops.
oh it just look like a woman like figure

so, it's agreed then we all like BAG John Corben way more than the Lois and Clark and Superboy Metallo combined and he could really is the iconic Metallo in the comics, tv series etc. I'm glad they used the silver age Metallo

I like that Clark learned how to use brain instead of brawn

Well i got to say first totally happy my CW affilate didnt have any audio or video issues unlike last week. Thank you affilate for that. I did like that martha got mentioned, cyborg got a mention. Then also seeing shelby in three scenes was nice. I hope we get to see him/her a few more times in the season.

I liked how the episode started off with corben writing a story on a bust the blur stoped and wrapped criminals up in metal fence that was good. His feelings about the blur were good showing why he hates him. Cause he blames the blur for a criminal killing his sister while he was away in iraq. I thought that was a nice way to start having corben not like the blur. Also man getting hit by the truck was wicked. I liked the blood and the cutting in/out before he woke up with the bionics in him. I think brain played that very well.

Also it was cool lois going to the kent farm and finding shelby and thinking clark was back. I liked that they did mention martha and she had a story to cover for clark. So i guess he talked to his mom a bit(offscreen) if any one is looking for him what to say. Also shelby was nice to see again.

Lois I liked her alot in the episode. Its fun to finally she lois and the blur(superman) getting into that relationship they should be in for a long time coming. It was cool to see her get into classic lois mode and getting to invovled and having the hero needing to save her. I thought all her scenes with corben were good. They have good interaction together. Same goes for her and chloe. Also interesting to see another flash of her future vision and that jacket/cape on a pole was cool. Also after the corben fight it was nice that clark let her finally see the blur in person. I liked how the S shield was visable for that.

As for clark, i do like this hero 24/7 idea he is going at. Though you can see its hurting him emotionally and he doesnt really want that. He wants to have his human side but he just doesnt want to make that same mistake he did with getting jimmy killed. I do like that lois is his connection to humanity and she will be the one that helps him find that balance in being a hero and having a human life. Also i liked the scene at the hospital with clark and emil. That was good interaction between the two. I like that chloe isnt the only one to be his helper in super villain stuff any more.

I do wish their was more to the "fight" with metallo. But we know their budget is crap. Plus you can have to much of a fight with a krypto powered hero villain and clark since kryptonite still hurts him. I thought the emp bomb was a cool idea and thought that was going to stop metallo. But that clark using his head and melting a lead plate onto metallo was a sick idea there. Also Cool that corben learned that kryptonite can hurt the blur. So he can use that when/if he does return later. Also it was cool Tess and her assistants got ahold of corben at the end. So we know they could bring him back down the road. Also as i said i liked the idea with continuity in the show and that the kryptonite was causing mental stress on corben. I wonder if that second doctor guy tess talked to at the end was emit vale aka comics creator of metallo.

Tess was pretty good tonight also. I liked her interactions with lois about her job. AS i said earlier totally felt a lesbian vibe coming off there. Also her interactions with her new assistants were good. At the end with all those kryptonian symbols(family crests) was cool. Also interesting it looks like
Jorel (younger version) was also sent to earth. I wonder how that is going to work out in the up coming kandor episode.
Cant wait to see were that story line going. Also the promo for rabid/echo was pretty neat.

Another solid episode. Wow BAG was awesome as Metallo, Lois & Clark continue to rock, Emil is such an awesome addition to the cast .

:wow:Wow, I think I like this one even more than "Savior"! I mean, throughout the whole episode, it felt like I was watching Superman, not Smallville! I mean you had:

The Good:

Clark acting like Superman and coming up with his own way to defeat Metallo!

Lois being more Lois than usual and investigating in her hilarious way!

BAG kicking a$$ as Metallo and really gave a strong dramatic performance during his confrontation with Clark.

Emil Hamilton is just the best and REALLY needs to replace Chloe!:o

My god, that final Clois scene put the biggest grin on my face since their last scene in Hex. Just perfect! Welcome back Clark!:yay:

The special effects again as really awesome this year!

The Bad:

Chloe....PLEASE...SHUT...UP!:cmad: That whole crap line about Clark "backpaddling" was such BS! Chloe's jealousy over Lois is disgusting and she yet again continues to put all her frustration on Clark, ehw! Calm, calm, only one more season of her and then bye, bye Chloe!:woot:

Really liked this episode, it had a nicer flow than last weeks and how much did I love the scene where Clark is using his superhearing to hear cries for help! Also the ending cliffhanger was excellent, looks like Jor-El fell to Earth. I really liked SV's Metallo and I like how his defeat was open ended where he can come back again. 9/10 Next week, Rabid looks better than I thought it would in the trailer, I just hope it's more of a dramedy than a Resident Evil rip-off!

First off, that was a great episode all around. BAG really grew on me.

There's two things I'd like to say about the episode...

1. I liked the ending but I can't help but think that the PERFECT ending would have been ending it with that Lois and Clark scene at the DP.

2. I realized during the final Clark/Chloe scene that as much as I love where the story is going now, I kind of want it to get back to Clark being just a little bit brighter, like how he was last year. I'm sure he will seeing as how the episode ended tonight.

Wish Zod had been in it but still a great episode overall.

good points tempest. I agree i dont like chloe much this season so far. But hopefully a few more episodes down she can get away from the jimmy talks to clark and they can rebuild their friendship so its back like the old days.

The series definitely has a very different feel to it this season, It's no longer about Clark Kent growing up in smallville . It's more about Kal-EL in Metropolis taking a giant leap towards becoming Superman .

That's the perfect way to put it.

Chalk up another good episode for S9.

They really seemed to pack a lot in this episode, but it flowed together nicely.

Personally, I can't help but see the show as that of a Superman show as it is now with Clark playing the dual roles. The only real key differences is he isn't using the name Superman as of yet, he hasn't donned the glasses, and he sticks to the shadows instead of being out in the public directly, although he does have a public image of sorts via his news stories and burning the symbol. While it's not exactly a match for the Superman of the comics, it's as close as its ever been in context to the Superman comics.

I loved this episode. I haven't enjoyed the show this much in a while. Like everyone else I'm hoping Chloe get's an attitude adjustment soon. Other than that I actually think everything is really starting to gel for the first time since Rosenbaum left. I was apprehensive about her at first but even Cassidy Freeman is really starting to grow on me.

totally i think the start of the season is strong hopefully they wont have a hiccup like last year in the second half. also i wonder does any one have a screen cap of the lois vision where we saw cape/jacket with the S shield on it.

anyone else see a cape on that person?

Not me. If that was the case, then it was near impossible to see. On the other hand, I *did* see a cape in Lois' dream/nightmare in the opening act.

yea can we get a screen cap of that as soon as possible guys?

I'm so glad that John Corben didn't meet Clark Kent beforehand insuring that Metallo doesn't know the true Identity of Superman in future .

Not a cape. I thought it was at first but it's actually his black shirt.
