93rd Annual Academy Awards

A24 make great movies but they were horrorble to promote them in the award season.

Not that I'm complaining but I'm still trying to figure out how Hamilton was eligible for nominations. I understand that it's technically a new film released in 2020 but it's still a taped performance from almost five years ago. Still, it makes more sense than Prom being nominated for anything.

Yeah, Hamilton being nominated does not make much sense other than being the popular choice that the Golden Globes likes to do (ie Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie for The Tourist).

That’s not a knock on the quality, but it’s not a movie as stated. It’s a taped performance.

All I care about is the double Reznor/Ross noms.

I have a feeling that if it were a normal year it wouldn't have been nominated. Same goes for Borat 2 and Prom, although Hamilton is more than a few tiers above them in terms of quality.

Pickings are slim.
They really, REALLY aren't though...

These nominations are just... insane. Like, WILLFULLY incomprehensible. Especially when they were willing to bend their rules so far as to allow Hamilton, ANYTHING released this year could have been eligible.

Look at the options for Comedy/Musical: You had Bad Education, The King of Staten Island, The Lovebirds, Spree, Personal History of David Copperfield, On the Rocks, The 40 Year Old Version all nowhere to be seen. The King of Staten Island in particular is outrageously snubbed twice for Best Comedy and Best Comedy Actor for Davidson. And Sandberg gets a (deserved) nom for Palm Springs but no Milioti?

Are they seriously trying to say Jared Leto was better than Paul Raci, Glynn Turman, Stanley Tucci, Yahya Abdul-Mahteen, Orion Lee, Jeremy Strong in Supporting Actor?

And of course there's Minari getting shut out.

I could go on and on in every category. There's simply no excusing this nonsense with "it was a limited year." They bent over backwards to expand their criteria and this is best they could come up with?

What are the chances next year of Elizabeth Olsen being nominated for some awards for WandaVision? Or would anything Marvel be snubbed?

Love Elizabeth Olsen & WandaVision... but it's not getting anything.

Love Elizabeth Olsen & WandaVision... but it's not getting anything.

Why should that be? Just because it's Marvel or a comic book property?

And if it had been released last year and was now awards season this year, would it have been considered since there are so few options?
