Kelly Slater…?

Kelly Slater, Tony Hawk, and Shaun White??

I don't even understand the thought process here. Why not invite her to begin with?

It must have slipped through the cracks. I doubt they went out of their way to intentionally not invite her.

The president of a country currently in the middle of a war, no less. Now I don't know Zelensky personally, but I feel like if that request ever got to him, he would have the common sense to decline it for obvious reasons.

It would a very deaf ear/awkward thing to do.

We've got priviledged movie stars sitting in a theater safe and sound while he's in a bunker that could be hit at anytime

DJ Khaled is presenting at the Oscars. I'm dying. :funny:

Between that and "We don't talk about Bruno" it feels like the Academy's are desperately fishing for any audience they can hook.

I keep seeing the "We don't talk about Bruno" clip suggested/trending on youtube that's why I think they're just picking anything popular at this moment to snag some audience.

What's the point. Ratings are going to be abysmal anyways

I'm glad Rachel's fans bullied the Academy into inviting her.

As a long time Oscar watcher, I'm so annoyed with everything happening. I feel like this telecast is going to be a trainwreck and I hope the ratings tank. Then maybe they'll ask the actual people who watch the show what they like about it and go from there.

Kelly Slater…?

I've never heard of most of those people. How many of them are actually in movies?

Shaun White? DJ Khaled? They don't have anything to do with movies. What the heck??

But they axed several live awards because I guess they figured nobody tuning in wants to see awards on an awards show.

This year's show is going to be a disaster. It might be the one that finally kills off the network broadcast Oscar show.

Kelly Slater is a surfer. Tony Hawk is a skateboarder.

Also, Stephanie Beatriz is more of a TV actor, although she did do the lead voice in Encanto so it makes sense for her to be there since Encanto was nominated for Best Animated Feature.

DJ Khaled brings in the younger generation...I'm assuming this was a convo in some LA office somewhere.

Eh, must've been a slippery one at that. Heh. She mentioned trying on her end, which means her ppl CAA biggest agency in the business trying directly to the academy and producers etc. Most likely some of the bad press got to old man Spielberg and it got corrected immediately.
