I'm very pleased the Keoghan has been holding strong with the precursor awards. I actually thought he gave the stronger of the two supporting performances between him and Gleeson. Hope he gets the Oscar nom in the end. He'd be the fifth Joker actor to be nominated for one.

I think at this juncture, Best Actor is between Butler and Farrell. My gut tells me Butler takes it. Not the worst win in the world, but Farrell is better.
Fraser is definitely still ahead of Butler, IMO. Butler has pretty much only won the Globe. I get that music biopics are catnip to the Academy, but Fraser remains the most broadly acclaimed Lead Actor performance of the year, while Farrell has won the most awards. Those two are the frontrunners.

Cameron will be fine. It's not like Hollywood hasn't decorated him with enough awards already and he's got three of the highest grossing films of all time under his belt. Avatar 2's box office is already showing for it. Hell, the first Avatar won Best Drama at the Globes. Cruise on the other hand was probably on the HFPA's **** list after he returned his Golden Globes, so him not being nominated and Top Gun not winning anything isn't too surprising, although I was a little surprised that neither Gaga nor Rihanna won for Best Song.

It should also be noted that the Golden Globes and the Oscars are entirely different beasts. Avatar and Top Gun will get more attention via technical awards at the very least.

Well yeah, but nobody showed up last year because the industry people were rightfully appalled by the discrimination of the Hollywood foreign press. Top gun maverick's cast and crew delivered a fantastic movie. I'm not surprised sag snubbed top gun for the best-cast ensemble after they didn't give mission impossible fallout the best stunt ensemble after Tom did a life-threatening stunt. My surprise with the globes is that they used to do it right. They honored the best pictures of American graffiti, Chinatown, The Aviator, Brokeback Mountain, Avatar, The Social Network, and Sweeny Todd. And they handed out best actors to Russell Crowe for A Beautiful Mind, Johnny Depp for Sweeny Todd, Mickey Rourke for the wrestler, and RDJ for Sherlock Holmes. And they nominated Sean Connery for Indiana Jones 3 and Russell Crowe for Master and Commander The Far Side of the World and Cinderella Man when the academy didn't. The adventures of Tintin won at the Golden Globes but got snubbed by the academy, and that had names like Peter Jackson and Steven Spielberg on it. Rihanna would have been a better choice for the best song. I agree with that.

So...is there a clear Best Picture frontrunner? If I had to guess, maybe it's The Fablemans? Haven't seen it yet, though.

I'm wrecked.

Crazy that our potential Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor Oscar winners this year are two of the best Hollywood comeback stories.

The Fabelmans vs EEAAO.
I wouldn't count out The Banshees of Inisherin either. I don't think there's a clear frontrunner yet I'm pretty certain one of those three is taking Best Picture.

Quan and Fraser comeback... Let's goooooooooo!

I'm so torn on best actor. I love Fraser getting his due and he was great in The Whale...but Colin Farrell was amazing in The Banshees of Inisherin, I would really love him to win.

I'd love Branden Gleeson to win too but no one is unseating Ke Huy this year. He's the only actor lock IMO.

I really liked Farrell in Banshees even though my favorite performance of his from last year was The Batman. You really can't go wrong with Farrell, Fraser or Austin Butler in Elvis but I really want Fraser to win.

I meant to see All Quiet on the Western Front during that brief window when it was in theaters. Heard good things about it.

I wonder if it could be a potential dark horse at the Oscars.

It's definitely going to rake in a ton of BTL noms, and has a very strong shot at breaking into the BP 10. Almost certainly landing a Cinematography nom. I don't see it winning much but it will very likely be a leader in total nominations.

Unlikely, but I'd love Albrecht Schuch to sneak in for Supporting Actor. He was probably my second favorite in that category this year behind Quan.

Seeing Gina Prince-Bythewood in director at the BAFTAs was fantastic. That's a nomination that I would love to see repeated at the Oscars.

They nominated the little girl from Firestarter, which is kind of crappy to do to any kid no matter how “bad” she might’ve been. Are they known to nominate kids?

And I think Tom Hanks performed exactly as big as he should have in a Baz Luhrmann movie. He was great IMO. Pinocchio, on the other hand, might be deserved lol

This nom, however, is on point:

Andrew Dominik & His Issues with Women” for Blonde
