The amount of people up in arms over a kid being nominated for Worst Actress at the Razzies baffles me, if just because when did folks start putting so much energy into or treat the Razzies seriously? Even they don't take themselves seriously. Why should you? They're there to point and laugh at what they feel are the worst of the worst.

Plus, they nominated Jake Lloyd, so it's not like there's no precedent. Can you really be surprised?

When you nominate a big celebrity, say like Stallone, he’s rich, and is so successful in the business, he’s not going to lose any sleep over it as nobody takes it seriously. It’s not exactly punching down. They’re knocking big celebrities down a peg. Fine.

A kid though can’t really differentiate between a stupid awards show or a real one. So getting nominated for anything “worst” when you’re at a very young impressionable age can be traumatizing. Jake Lloyd hasn’t exactly had the best mental health after the way people treated him as a child.

Like, what’s the thinking? Let’s knock this little girl down a few pegs?

Of course WE know that the Razzies are meaningless but put yourself in her shoes. The average 12-year old has enough self-esteem issues as it is so it's really punching down by telling a kid that they can't act.

@DarkKnight88 put it best, look at how much needless scrutiny Jake Lloyd had to endure and it really messed him up.

Exactly. The Razzies are a joke, always have been. They don't give a **** about mocking the "the worst movies of the year." They're just edgelords taking cheap potshots for attention. Even before the internet - just look at how they nominated Kubrick and Duvall for The Shining.

But giving that treatment to kids is just disgusting. It was when they did it to Jake Lloyd, and it is now.

No actor has won Best Actor without their film also being nominated for Best Picture since Jeff Bridges in 2009 (Crazy Heart). The Whale missing on Best Picture is not good news for Fraser.

Smart money is on Austin Butler now.

Happy to see Andrea Risenborough nominated for "To Leslie." Bit bummed that "Decision to Leave" didn't get anything, but eh, what are you gonna do?

The Batman got snubbed in cinematography and score (which we knew already).

Same with Decision To Leave on the former award.

Mia got utterly snubbed. She starred in two very different horror films, played 3 roles, broke the internet, and co-wrote one of the two films.

She deserved a Pearl nomination. And, Oscars continually **** over great horror actresses ala Hereditary, Midsommar, and Titane.

The Academy rarely recognizes horror films

Elvis being nominated for BP is a joke. That movie was horrible

I look at some clips here and there on YouTube, but I’m still not compelled to watch the movie.

Elvis himself just never sat right with me, personally.

It's a fever dream of sad fun, but that's all... nice hangover sunday morning flick.

If Gasper Noe made a bio-pic.

Not a whole lot of surprises here. Elvis getting a Best Picture nom reminds me of Bohemian Rhapsody's nomination. I still stand by Fabelmans, EEAAO, Banshees or Maverick to take Best Picture. If anything I'm inspired to check out Triangle of Sadness and possibly All Quiet on the Western Front as well so maybe my 2022 list isn't quite done yet.

I don't think there's a clear frontrunner. Like you said, Jeff Bridges won when Crazy Heart wasn't nominated so it's not impossible for Fraser. The HFPA wasn't going to give him the Golden Globe because of their history but the Academy is a different story.

Only 3 of these BP noms I watched so far were Elvis, Avatar 2, and Top Gun Maverick. Elvis easily was best of those 3 movies. Top Gun Maverick was good, but nowhere near a Best Picture quality movie. Same for Avatar 2

Goal is to watch the others before the Oscar's. At least 5 of the others I didn't see

Fraser has a lot of goodwill going into this, so even if they don’t love the movie, him as a person as well as his performance might give him his due.

You know what was a surprise for me to learn was that this is Jamie Lee Curtis’s first Oscar nomination? I thought she’d been nominated for A Fish Called Wanda or something before.

My most excited moment will be, hopefully, Ke Huy Quan clutching an Oscar. Talk about one the greatest comeback stories. And the only Goonie to get one. Sorry Thanos lol

Some quick thoughts:
1. F*** Avatar it doesn't deserve a best picture nom
2. I hope EEAAO dominates
3. Elvis was the most overrated piece of s*** movie I've seen in a decade

SAY IT WITH YOUR CHEST BOREDGUY!!

I agree with you on all of the above (Except EEAAO in the Best Supporting Actress category) lol.

Never would have expected Short Round to (probably) get an Oscar before Indy. :o

It’s so amazing that he’s also been experiencing all this with Spielberg right there at each award show having an awards year himself. You couldn’t write this story lol

The Batman really got snubbed in score and cinematography. Avatar getting a nomination for best picture is expected yet still comical.
Yeah the more I think about it the more frustrated I get about The Batman not getting a cinematography nom. I'm disappointed it didn't get a nomination for Score too but that was a little bit tougher competition.

I'm also confused that Judd Hirsch got in there over Paul Dano for The Fabelmans. Hirsch was great but he was barely in it compared to Dano.
