Yeah the more I think about it the more frustrated I get about The Batman not getting a cinematography nom. I'm disappointed it didn't get a nomination for Score too but that was a little bit tougher competition.

I'm also confused that Judd Hirsch got in there over Paul Dano for The Fabelmans. Hirsch was great but he was barely in it compared to Dano.

Dano deserved it on two scenes alone;

His face/composure during the monkey scene... and his demeanor during the finale scene with Sam in their apartment concerning the photos in the mail.

I didn't see The Fabelmans, but I am actually shocked this whole award season that Paul Dano didn't at least get some kind of acting nom for the Riddler in The Batman. I mean he was CHILLING in that role, WB should've campaigned for him.

That was just on my mind.

Just some quick thoughts

1. Biggest surprises for me who got nominated:

Ruben Östlund – Triangle of Sadness
Paul Mescal – Aftersun
Bill Nighy – Living
Andrea Riseborough – To Leslie
Brian Tyree Henry – Causeway
Stephanie Hsu – Everything Everywhere All at Once

2. Possible that Everything Everywhere All At Once is going to win the top 4 categories which I love

3. Women Talking kinda got shut out and I wonder if they had release the movie wide earlier it would have gotten a better boost.

4. Avatar and Top Gun got exactly what I was expecting them to get.

5. I'm glad Oscar voters didn't forget about Turning Red even though it's probably going to GDT's Pinocchio

6. Weird that Triangle of Sadness isnt also in the Best International Feature

7. Glad The Batman got at least 3 noms even though they didn't get Best Cinematography

8. I'm actually not surprised Babylon didn't get Best Picture or Best Director

9. f*** Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris

10. Shout out to My Year of Dicks for the best film title of 2022

Im kind of happy for once with the well rounded overall nominees with a good mix of big budget movies and smaller if not indie movies. I may actually watch for once lol

If you told me back in March that Everything Everywhere All at Once... a movie that features two talking rocks, d**do nunchucks, and a everything bagel of doom would lead the Oscars race, I wouldn't believe you in a million years. It's just crazy that one of my top 2 movies I was rooting for this year got this much recognition.

I was never expecting him to be nominated for Riddler unless there was no competition in that category at all but it still would have been really amusing if he were nominated for The Fabelmans because then every villain in The Batman apart from Falcone would have been up for an Oscar this year.

You certainly did start the campaigning for the little engine that could, my dude. It really deserves all the accolades, it was a brilliant film.

I regret not seeing it in theaters but I made up for it by buying the Blu-ray.

It really would be poetic for him to win with Spielberg in the audience.

I think I will legit have a wee bit of misty eyes if Ke wins. That guy was our childhood. I know if him and Yeoh don't win it'll be like how I feel about Stallone not winning for Creed. Won't lose sleep over it but I would think of it every year.

The Batman got snubbed.

No direction, adapted screenplay, OST or cinematography?

If anything, Fraser's work on the film was outstanding and that should've received a nom, at the very least.

I'll agree with you on Score and Cinematography for sure but Best Director for Reeves and Adapted Screenplay were longshots at best.

Cinematography and Score, yes I agree. but I honestly feel like it didn't deserve any of the rest.
